  1. For those who like to have gaming material in French, a new site called d100 (a pretty concise name) has been started by the translators of RQ6 and Openquest (ex. Scriptorium, if you know them), talking and providing game material in the French language for Openquest, Revolution D100 and Runequest 6.
  2. In my home town, the babaù is a dragon. Since revolution intends to provide something new in the world of rpg, it may be the chance to go back to the origins of the main fantasy monsters. This is my preference, but on the other hand, referring to the common fantasy monsters of the D100 family and other systems makes revolution more familiar to players and easier to cross-over with other systems. So I’ll live with it. So we could think of a “historical monster coliseum” as a future publication, including of course the babau.
  3. Steve: "I've never understood why anyone would translate place names in the real world - we don't translate people's names, do we? And that applies to fantasy worlds for me too." I would agree with names in the game's languages, like a sartarite version of Apple Lane (how do the locals say ?). But when a name has been "translated" into English, it could be in any other Real Word language as well. And as Oracle said, these names have meanings which act more strongly when heard in your mother tongue. But it is after all only a matter of taste.
  4. Same for me. It was even my very first rpg. And I'm not far from stil considering it today as THE rpg.
  5. may be in the next prehistorical setting.
  6. Then please the classical medieval big-goat-like version of it, not the drippy fantasy 20th Century Hollywood-y white-horse-wtih-a-horn. I know, I can be a true nerd .
  7. Indeed. RQ2 was my very first RPG, and is still today one of the best ones Who said I may have a subjective judgement ?
  8. But I hoped this would be the final cover !
  9. On the other picture, the guy with the sword looks too much body-built and stereotyped, I energically protest. For the cover, just put a bit less light on the coat and that's it. And if there are rules for chainmai bikinis, make some for fur-string armours for male barbarians as well. (Paolo, you, Italian macho !)
  10. The idea is good and helpful for game writers (I wished I had something like this available). Anyway many BRP powers from the different lists look quite the same and the rest could be ported to the other lists, as you did. They are doing something similar with Revolution D100.
  11. So the title of this update should be "the unified Porwer List"

    Pronunciation

I agree with M Helsdon. An official prononciation is IMHO a nonsense. Ask in England, France or Spain to say the name of Jesus (or wharever deity or whatever name), you hardly know they speak about the same. Or ask for the same in Arabic, Chinese or Hebrew. So Hshunchen will not only have different pronunciations all over Glorantha, but probably even different names.
  13. Could you explain me the difference ?
  14. I wrote in the past a Sumerian setting, to be found in the download section of this forum http://basicroleplaying.org/files/file/482-uruk/. It is in French and remains amateur in form, but if you like to use some material from it, feel free. I you like a translation or have any question or request, I'll be happy to help, you can just PM me. Does it mean that a Design Mechanics topic shall be added to the "extended family" of this forum ?
  15. did you never hear about Gadjila, who became a woman when heroquesting to liberate Firshala ? Ask Gianni ?
  16. Another thought: if the BRP Central has to be the main forum for discussions about the rules, it is time to organize it. There are ideas spread over different topics and within a short time, it will become a mess and infos may get lost. I suggest for example to make a topic for each theme, for example one for each chapter, where the specific rules will be discussed.
  17. Just a comment which has not much to do with the rules: the Revolution forum can be seen and accessed only by those who have an account. Is this on purpose ? Lurking visitors cannot see it (and I desperately looked for it the last few days before I eventualy signed up).
  18. This is a great rule: this means that a skilled character not only hits more often, but also much better. I like it. And I find it even realistic. It also makes skill differences even more important, so that you souldn't need skill ratings as high as with the BRP to figure very powerful opponents. When converting a D100 game to Revolution D100, this should be taken into account.
  19. I did the same on pandapirate.net in France. I'll look for more. Does anybody know German forums ?
  20. The last update about characteristics, skills and sequences is clearer than the Parpuzio draft, which lacks an explanation of the principles. You shall include it (or a short version) into the Revolution D100 draft. The concept is excellent.
  21. So do we all. That's my problem for example with the newest gloranthan material using the outdated local Imperial system Anyway, for a game addressing an international public, it makes definitely sense to use an international language (english) and an international measurement system (metric).
  22. ok, but please then I'd like to see 1- at last unicorns looking more like a goat rather than like a horse and 2- if panthotaurs, please change the name or give them the body of a bull -or at least the legs.
