  1. This is going to be my feed back on the game I had with my players. 2.Inheritance Flotsam and Jetsam.txt
  2. I've decided to post my side of feedback here. My players are all from Japan many are new to CoC 7th edition. It would be nice if we get credited maybe by having our names in the back of a pdf as play testers but anyway were just here to help out in the development of this campaign. 1-The Star Brothers (Flotsam and Jetsam).txt
  3. I've started running "Flotsam and Jetsam" as a campaign for 2 groups and just finished chapter 1 for both groups. I'm about to run chapter 2 for my groups and had some questions about the "needle" so I've decided to add other questions I had concerning running this scenario as a campaign. for the "needle" chapter 2 takes place in April 21, 1924 and chapter 3 takes place in 1925. The "needle" has a time limit of 64 days so they clearly had to do something in order to survive that long. If this was a one shot this is not a problem but as a campaign this is something I have to work with. A easy solution I have is to make the time limit longer like 2 years or so which gives enough time for the campaign to end. If for some reason the Players wanted to do some Deep One hunting in the middle of each scenario does anyone have any solutions to how they will do this as I have no solution to this other than making a scenario for this to happen. Another thing I had in mind was that the campaign deals with Deep Ones for all of its campaign (although I have not read chapter 4 yet so I have to assume this is correct). Playing the games with the basic rules if they loss 6 points of SAN if they come to see the Deep One in chapter 2 there suppose to loss only 1 point of SAN. I've started my group by telling them for this campaign I'm going to ignore that rule and there going to loss up to the maximum SAN loss for each chapter as if it was run like a single scenario. The group of players who I play regularly are okay with what ever I do and will go with what I tell them. I'm just wondering what other Keepers would do when introducing new players, I usually find that many players will try to claim any rules that give them benefit during game even if sometimes it doesn't make sense. For this topic I want people to feel free to write about question and ideas concerning running "Flotsam and Jetsam" as a campaign.
  4. Mike M Oh sorry, since it was like that for a long time I was starting to think that was intentional. Thank you for answering. lordabdul That could be a creative answer which I maybe able to use for other skill tests. Thank you for your creative idea.
  5. I posted this because I couldn't find a answer and was just curious. What is the reason for the difference in starting value in <Listen> roll for investigators in 1920 vs modern? This is the 1920 version Investigator Sheet from Chaosium's website(<Listen>20%). https://www.chaosium.com/content/FreePDFs/CoC/Character Sheets/Character Sheet - 1920s - basic autocalc - Call of Cthulhu 7th Ed.pdf Investigator Sheet/Modern version(<Listen>25%). https://www.chaosium.com/content/FreePDFs/CoC/Character Sheets/Character Sheet - Modern - basic autocalc - Call of Cthulhu 7th Ed.pdf both data is consistent with the my data in the rule book. At first I've thought this was some easy mistake but found "Errata CoC 7th" files from this website and in there it does not state this as a error. I'm beginning to think that this was done in a intentional way and just wanted the logic behind this choice. I've done my own research on the 1920's and find that many modern inventions are making cars more and more quiet which maybe why they chose to go with 25% for modern. Maybe there were more factories that made noise. The more I use the CoC 7th edition the more I understand how the rules reflect whats common sense in our society. So I just felt there might be something I could kind of learn from this.
  6. Hello, debg I've also been a CoC Keeper for a few years. I mainly play 7th edition but because of the country I currently live in I've also have experience with CoC 6th edition. From my experience 7th edition is much much deadlier and investigator deaths are much more common. I feel that death is a needed part in any horror, without any risk there will be no tension(in short this is me just saying CoC 7th has alot of deaths). For death vs insanity I feel it depends on the story used. I see [monster strength] vs [SAN loss to meet them] are like 4:1. Deep Ones(from Flotsam and Jetsam) [1D6+1D4]damage vs [0/1D6]SAN Loss. Hunting Horror(Keepers Pg.299) [1D6+3D6]Damage vs [0/1D10]SAN Loss Add to this you usually loss SAN only once per type of monster; while you could get attacked multiple times in battle. Many scenarios are made with battle with the cult or with lesser monsters in mind, or exploring the mystery and just getting a glimpse of the great old one. Any battle in CoC could lead to a death while the more Lovecrafty type of story where they encounter a truly godly being and barely ran for there life type of story could bring them to a more insane end. I feel "Flotsam and Jetsam" is aimed for a more newer player and Keeper in mind. It brings in the very basics of Lovecraft horror; and I feel newer players are more likely to go into fights so at least being some what capable of fighting equally is better than a automatic death if attempting to fight the great old ones. I do not remember if this is stated in the PDF but if your using the scenario as a campaign then you could have them knocked unconscious rather than death. This did happen to me when I ran the game as a campaign in the first scenario. One of the player was knocked out with one hit from the monster the very first turn. Rather than instant death I told my players that the pc was knocked unconscious and it left that character with a deep cut which had her loss 1D10 APP loss and shes left with a nasty injury which is like 90cm on her back to her left arm. I've used this idea from a scenario or campaign maybe from "Flotsam and Jetsam" or it could be some other scenario which I could not recall. Many scenarios have alot of wisdom for new Keepers so we all could learn from those.
  7. I will use and run as many games of CoC 7th edition next month. I am a part of Cult of Chaos and I would like to inform many of the fans in Japan about this. May I use Greg Stafford's picture and final words from the obituary by Greg Stafford's family to on my twitter?
  8. If there's anything I could do I'm also interested in helping.
