  2. Per the Bestiary change in the Q&A The healing spirit must engage the disease in spirit combat. The disease’s spirit combat skill equals the victim’s characteristic POW×5%, and its magic points equal the victim’s POW. If the healing spirit succeeds in reducing the disease spirit’s magic points to 0, it will drive the sickness from the victim’s body.
  3. Please don’t post copyright material on this forum. The French core rules can be purchased here and used with most built in computer. translation software. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/329163
  4. There's now a Rivers of London Discord Channel #rivers-of-london https://discord.gg/w8VDH38Y Link is good for 7 days, if it expires and you a new link, just ping me here @Scotty
  5. You might find this helpful: Within the seven days you can be resurrected per the Resurrect or Seal Soul rune spells. Anyone who has the ability or magic to make them visible can see the spirit (Second Sight does not work). Bad people can bind the spirit. Communicating with the spirit is difficult, spirit speech is easiest, and the spirit may be in a state of trauma having in this case just been murdered. After seven days, it goes onto the path of the dead that leads to the courts of judgement, where Daka Fal, judges them, and send them to the correct afterlife. This can only be accessed by experts (psychopomp worshippers, shaman and heroquesters). You may also find this excellent two part video of the Tibetan Book of The Dead, narrated by Leonard Cohen helpful: https://youtu.be/AFgs2rZkOgU.
  6. Sadly not. David is not one of the Mods or Admins on this site: https://basicroleplaying.org/staff/
  7. You are more than welcome to distribute materials within your group facilitate play. But as soon as you post chunks of a book on a public website (such as here or your own) or distribute it publicly, it becomes a copyright issue. Our fan policy covers most of this:
  8. See the spell description, Red Book of Magic page 100. No. All the normal abilities of the animal become usable by the target for the spell’s duration. Yes. If the others transform spells allow. No. Transform self, changes neither of these. It's the other transform spells that may do so. eg Bears Strength: doubling the target’s natural STR (above species maximum), which also boosts their damage bonus and Agility and Manipulation skill bonuses. Note that most adventurers who use transform self will only be able to use their natural weapons.
  9. Yes, although may be later as I will be at Dragonmeet. Please wait for announcements.
  10. Chaosium is coming to Dragonmeet in London this December! Come see us at the Novotel Hammersmith on Saturday 3rd December. Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game – Official Launch and Seminar (Seminar Room #2 - 1.00PM) Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game is based on the hugely successful series of novels by Ben Aaronovitch, and where better for its official launch than London itself? Join Rivers of London creator Ben Aaronovitch, and Chaosium's Paul Fricker, Lynne Hardy, Mike Mason, and Michael O'Brien for the official launch of Rivers of London: the RPG. See this eagerly awaited game for the first time, and hear about its genesis and development from Ben and the Chaosium creative leads for the project. We'll also announce what is further in store for the Rivers of London RPG line. Chaosium is proud to be an associate sponsor of Dragonmeet.
  11. Just for general reference: https://robslink.com/SAS/democd79/body_part_weights.htm
  12. Speak with Birds comes from Vrimak, and is a cult special anyway. Command Horse from Hyalor (Southern Peloria & parts of Dragon Pass) Clear Sight from Sun Bird (Impala & Sable Praxians) One of my players is a yelmalio merchant, and was very excited by Command horse.
  13. See Gaining Access to Associated Cult Rune Spells in the Q&A.
  14. No. The Starter Set is a streamlined system, see the notes on Darzim and Sureshot in the Q&A. Yes, it's a correction for the Core Rules, see the Q&A. Remember, that Minor temples have no access to associate cults, major temples have 1, and great temples all of the appropriate regional associate cults.
  15. The great thing about most of these clans is that there is often little known about them, make the Lonendi your own. There's little official material other than a few maps and this in the RQ Screen Pack adventures book: Lonendi: This clan is located near the Upland Marsh and is often troubled by the forces of Delecti the Necromancer. so you can just develop it yourself. That's the whole idea behind the JC. I'm going to ping @Nick Brooke here as he's involved with not only the WYFA, but is also familiar with the area... Another alternative is to make your own clan and shoehorn it into the map! I did this when running my Lismelder campaign (note that I'm also @David Scott) this way you don't really have to change much except the clan boundaries: and https://basicroleplaying.org/topic/10716-heroquest-glorantha-starting-setting/page/2/#comment-159688 Looking at the Clan Map of Central Sartar, wedged it in here:
  16. No shield from any associates. Lodril is worshiped as Mohenjar and so gives Support, Yelm gives Cloud Clear. Engizi has no access to shield either (except of course Fireshield)
  17. It was taken down as it has no BRP or Fan policy attribution.
  18. As it says in the Core rules: and the bestiary says: While it's fun to run with an idea, many of the rules mechanics for human adventurers fail when applied to huge creatures. The idea of a giant who is overcoming his desire to eat humans and yearns to play the harp could be a fun one. There are however some stories around this this subject where it takes a turn for the worst 🙂. Have a look at some of the giants that have been created for adventures: The issaries merchants in Griffin Mountain (and the stories of others), and the giant group in Snakepipe Hollow.

    Rune Lords

the cost is still D10 Rune points and with a permanent loss of 1 Rune point I would hope so. Rune Lords are the leaders of the cult. I'm interested to hear how this is impacting your game, or has done in the past (even in RQ2). Do you have Rune Lords with 10 Rune points in your game? Remember, as a GM you are always free to limit player actions if you feel they are over emphasising an element of the rules that is unbalancing your game.

    Rune Lords

The limits are already there, not more than species maximum. The same limits were in RQ2. Adventurers who are Rune Lords will have plenty to do each season, than just burning Rune points on DI. There's the Hero Wars to fight. There will of course be situations where such a practice is useful.

    Rune Lords

Note that the wording is under review. It will be along the lines that on a successful DI, there is a minimum permanent cost of 1 RP. while the correction above is correct, there is still additional text to add.

  23. That they are spirits, yes. That they are the same no. Allied spirits are spirits sent by the deity, and limited in number. Cult spirits are common within the cult Same as when a human discorporates. It's not a prepared enchantment, there no POW spent, there's no command or control spell, only a persuasion test. So as they are not magically bound, no. As always, GMs can decide otherwise in their games. Rune levels with allied spirits are already powerful, if you want to make them more so, you can give them more powerful allied spirits and abilities.
  24. Note that applied spirits aren't summoned, they are sent. Note they aren't bound, they are persuaded. Allied Spirits inhabit animals or sacred cult objects (RQG page 227) and are not bound. An allied spirit is a spirit up until it enters its new home, then they are corporate. Rune level adventurers could certainly quest for more exotic animals / creatures for their spirit to occupy. The spirit stats then replace the previous occupants (remember that Rune Lord and Priest AS have different stats). If the creature is an embodied spirit, then it can naturally discorporate. Otherwise would need to use the Rune spell. Currently the only allied spirits that can do this are Waha riding beasts, as they can learn Discorporate. While nymphs like naiads would seem useful, they loose 1 mp per 10m away from their river. So unless your Engizi priest is involved in Local river adventures only, they will have to leave them behind. You may find the Q&A on allied spirits helpful.
  25. If you want to discuss anything other than Dwarfs please start a new topic.
