Death is not freedom.  Slave revolts may be Deathly, but dead slaves don't found an ongoing cult.

Death rune is same as severance. I view it in that context.

    Eurmal the Revolter

Yes, that is getting closer. The magic is about right. Would need to separate it from Eurmal to make it more accessable to none Lightbringers and come up with a HeroQuest. Hmm, lets call it "Free yourself. Free the world."

    cult of Orlanth Rebellious

Thank you. I will definently read it over.

OK, you're coming at this from the "If you don't get a specific Rune spell for it, it doesn't really matter much to the cult" perspective.

I am not coming at this from a secific spell, but I would expect some sort of magic that aids in this tupe of thing.

Issaries - fair exchange is impossible if one party is enslaved, after all.

The main character is actually an Issaries, so yeah.

The problem is, where is the consistent worship going to come from?

That is why I am thinking a Hero Cult which spirings up from time to time as a need arrises.

Beat-pot Aelwrin as a prominent slave rebel and liberator

That is an interesting suggestion. Are there any write ups for him as a cult?

how does this magic interact with Oath, Ban, or Harmony?

That would depend on the spell, but you are correct there maybe version that would work on all of these (and others).

For Runes I am thinking Death and Disorder.

The Red Goddess, and her Seven Mothers.

I was actually onsidering this. so its not too far off.

What i am looking for is magic which would to disenchant/distroy bonds be they magical, including enchantments, and physical like manicles. So, I am hoping for a Hero/Spirit Cult I guess which character could join no matter what their main cult is.

In terms of being uninitiated, I would expect that no Malkioni of any caste can call on divine intervention, and few people actually know more than a couple of points of spirit magic, other than Zzaburi.  Then there is God Forgot...

According to what Jeff has been posting on Facebook, that is not the case. Lower castes follow spirits and worship Gods. If they are initiated, then they will get divine intervention.

Agree. Plus it would be silly if your Allied Spirit could achieve Rune Level and get its own Allied Spirit, and so on recursively.

In precious version we allowed Allied spirits to become acolytes for reusable Rune Magic. No need to do so in RQG.

I think I may rule that the U. can only initiate when his companion achieves rune level, and at that point takes the place of the Allied Spirit. That should keep down the power-gaming aspect a little.

From our earliest forays into RQ gaming, our rule of thumb was "Parry the rider, kill the mount." Having the unicorn as an initiate, may actually help it to survive past teh first combat. Honestly having it become an initiate is not a power-gaming at all, at least IMO.

Chalana Arroy just doesn't fit for me as adventurers.

From time to time one of our players choose to play a Chalana Arroy. most find it to be fun ... for a while, but it gets borring really fast as they tend to be very one dimensional. Except for that one Chalana Arroy Illuminated Ogre. That did not end well.

Not only is Parry Ok (for me) but Disarm (which is an attack maneuver) is also Ok (for me, again), because it cause no harm, and thus don't violate the oath.

FYI, I agree with you and actually go farther, but in previous discussions it was all "Gregged" by Jeff, who took a much more hardline position as stated above.

What book is he in? I know I read his cult info and now cannot find it for the life of me!

There is a description in the Cults of Terror, and others published afterwards

Aren't Uz mostly subterranean? I thought there was no limit to how low they sink. 😛

Subterranean? Not really. They were driven to the surface from Hell. Granted Uz may feel more at home underground away from Yelm's sight, but are strong enought o deal with it. (and will eat those who are not).
