Have a look at 282, at the bottom of the left coloum: "Leaving the Cult"
I am not sure it is the case with these two cults.

If a PC chooses to pick up the "other sword" and join Yanafal Tarnils cult, what changes if any will need to be made on the character sheet? Rune Pool? Worship skill? Gifts/Geases?

The Empire of the Dragon ...
Yeah, this is the guy to blame for getting me involved with RQ and Glorantha a long time ago. IT'S ALL HIS FAULT!!!!

It seems pretty odd that Yelmalio is dating his Dad's ex-wife, just saying.
Does Buserian have a Freudian subcult to analyse that?

Elmal is Orlanth's Thane- then you effectively have two subcults and no major cult on the men's side. Why is that?
Yes, exactly. This is a situation I am trying to work out in my head. How to mesh these two cults. It seems that Barntar would be dominant based on needs with Elmal more as a uncle/guide/leader figure.

one is to Orlanth Thunderous and his son Barntar, the other to Ernalda and the Grain Goddesses. Orlanth and Ernalda are the primary cults, with Barntar and the Grain Goddesses being subcults.
Understood. How would it be different if it was Elmal and Barntar?

I am setting up a village, in my campaign, with primary worship bring those of Orlanth, Ernalda, Barntar, Grain Godess.
To me it seems that there is a lot of overlap between these four cults, so please help me strainten things out. Who would worship each deity?

Am I correct in my understanding that Glorantha lead, unlike RL lead, is not poisonous to humans?
Lead poisoning takes a while. In a world like Gloranth, it should not make too big a differnce since mortaity rates are high and magical cures are available.

My party calls that a "power spanking".
Yeah, and now he owes a Ransom on top of that.

Still... Careless... 🙂
In this particular case both the Wachaza priest and his allied spirit were captured after sucessful divine interventions (one by each). The priest now has a POW of 6 and his allied spirit is at POW 3.

What would be a ransom for an allied spirit?

There is nothing as a familiar in RQG.
My personal opinion is that familiars are what Malkioni call their allied spirits. There may be some differences as to benefits and abilities these have vs. the "regular" allied spirits from Theist cults.d

We years away from Sorcery rules at best.
Heroquest framework, probably longer than that
Larger scale, Ritual magic (wyters and up) rules .... hmm, possible, but I doubt it. More likely as a JC publication
A few more settings (Western lands, Eastern Isles, Pamaltea locations) .... only as JC publications (IMO). Several have already been released. Although, you may see something on Western lands with the Sorcery rules.
The big Hero Wars campaign book ... huge undertaking. I can see it being done, but such a huge effort may not financially feasible

I'm not that convinced that the HQ rules are essential - it's a niche product for a niche game. Whilst I'm sure it is spiritually important I would be surprised if it is expected to sell more than a scenario book like Smoking Ruins or Pegasus Plateau.
Why not compare these to Secrets of HeroQuesting (Secrets of HeroQuesting - Chaosium | Jonstown Compendium | DriveThruRPG.com) which has also been extrimely popular.

Don't think clans, however, think islands.

It's really a sign that they are committed to a longer term vision of the company.
Totally in agreement on this.

Without the rather obvious "We don't yet have the rules for that", I'm curious as to what people have interpreted as acquiring "Mastery" of a Rune.
I have been toying with an ideavthat Mastering a Rune would give the character access to all Divine spell tied to that rune irrespective of which cult they belong to, or any at all. In effect allowing them to setup a <rune> Rune Pool. Also thinking of setting up some different rules for Sorcery in regard to spell associated with the Mastered Rune.

Why does it seem that Chaosium puts about 4 Call of Cthulhu titles from every single RuneQuest title?
I think that CoC has a wider audience and thus bigger sales. The main world is parallel to ours and there is less of a barrier to entry.

The Haragalans have been known to range pretty far, but most piracy remains within the East Isles itself. To an East Islander, piracy is like cattle raiding to a Sartarite.
Are you saying that they consist of pirate clans which raid each other? Doesn't there have to be wide scale trading going on to support piracy? Who is their main target?

Cool stuff. By the way, how far to the Pirates of East Isles range? Are they a problem most to Kralorela or do they reach Pamaltela and the far West?

I consider the initiation tithe for a city god a city tax, and what allows you to get any special services of the city, in addition to sales tariffs or entrance toll (initiates are exempt).
I consider it Citizenship with only these people being able for position in whatever governing body the city has.

Mine gets weird and funky since we often find the party go to other worlds, and sometimes things come to visit.

Switching from Humakt to Yanafal Tarnils
in RuneQuest
Posted
Thank you for the discussion. It is all very useful. In this particular case the PC in quesiton is Illuminated and has been reincarnated (as an elf no less, but thats another story). So, I think I will play it as following. No sword breaking curse, He keeps his gifts and geases (although he may choose to ignore them). He has access to his Humakti Rune Pool, but can not add to it. His Worship YT will start at base. His Cult Lore YT is at 1/2 his Cult Lore Humakt. He will need to start his YF Rune Pool from scratch.
