  1. Just as an aside, but related, I thought there was a thread or something about this, regarding dual-weilding, and the Bladesharp not giving the skill bonus to both bladed weapons. E.g., sword & dagger, with Bladesharp on the dagger not in any way altering the sword attack.
  2. That is literally what I was going to post!
  3. Pretty sure that's actually Firearrow - 2mp for such an instant spell is outrageous! And you still need to be fortunate to hit.
  4. The spell target is the weapon. If the weapon contained an allied spirit, it would need be a POW vs POW for Dullblade to succeed. Where's that description come from? I don't have that in either RQ:G or RBoM. Oh, you're reading Bladesharp... Dullblade doesn't have that. Personally, I'd rule that they counter each other, and the higher point value gets the remaining +/- to both skill and damage. But, you and I are agreeing that Dullblade doesn't require a POW v POW.... some of the others above apparently need convincing.
  5. Destroy the holy objects*, Dismiss the old Sanctify, cast your new one... (GM to decide what they are, and how)
  6. It's really pretty! And I'm liking the new adventurers (can't wait to see the non-human write-ups!) But I really hope this isn't the final version, and it's going to get another proof-read... I see about 4 errors just in the few paragraphs of Mago's write-up 😞
  7. Yep, pretty much what I was thinking - although smaller and made of wood (or bronze). Like you'd put on a small home altar shelf.
  8. So, it's the actual weapon being changed (and targeted), not the person wielding...
  9. Then, let me ask this... What if Dullblade (or Bladesharp, or Crush, or Fireblade, etc...) is cast on a weapon on the ground, and then picked up? I would presume most of you would say the damage effect is no problem. What about the skill adjustment?
  10. But there are spell a that specifically target items within someone's grasp - like Crack. Do you have POW v POW for those? I can see that Dullblade could reduce weapon skill because it becomes more unwieldy, re/unbalanced, etc... Not directly affecting the user.
  11. Damn them! They spread like the plague!
  12. I was thinking more along the lines of - taking votive images with you wherever you go, and dropping said Sanctify and votive image in enemy temples (probably after a quick Dismiss Magic).
  13. Simple question... Anyone out there bother to keep this spell in memory? Use it often? How many points?
  14. Oh, now that makes for some interesting munchkinnerry!!!
  15. Automatic on parry? Hmmm "Automatic" upon saying the words "Flame on"... Easy. As for sticking with Bladesharp, if you do it via Spirit Binding, you can have both 😄 Speaking of parrying, how about a Dullblade autocast on successful parry? (Although, the obvious question here is - who actually uses Dullblade?)
  16. I got that. I'm saying that I don't think you can put a condition in the Control Spirit spell that would include the command to cast the Fireblade spell.. The spirit will be commanded (by...??? That in itself raises questions!), but it will still need to be commanded to do something - adding extra SRs. OTOH, just having the spirit bound (into the sword?), which doesn't require a Control spell to command it to cast the spell (as per above), would be a better way to go.
  17. Given Orlanth has Movement, it's not surprising Stasis took a back seat in the creation of Time.
  18. Personally, I wouldn't allow it all as you're suggesting, for the simple fact that the command for the spirit to cast the Fireblade couldn't be built in. Although, that's really just a few more SRs. Also, as above and in the corrections thread, you don't need to cast a control spell everytime you want a bound spirit to cast a (touch) spell. You can still have your "Flame on" trigger, just not set up like that.
  19. "Lay Member" is barely a thing. Throw a priest some coins and sat "Yelm is great", yay, you're a Lay Member. No-one can really stop you from worshipping a god. But you'll never learn the secrets.
  20. Ah! That explains why Yelmalians can't cast Fireblade... 😋😋😋
  21. TBH, I don't see the point, unless you want that linkage. You're in all ways better off to do a Spirit Binding matrix, and have the spirit cast the spell. Especially since a) it's faster, b) allows you to do other actions on the same round, and the awesome c) you don't spend your MPs (added to d) the spirit replenishes them themselves). There's a post only one possible downside (others stealing the spirit), and that can be fixed with a user condition. Sure, there will be the occasional times when it's not as advantageous (low CHA), but they should be rare. Besides which, if you find and bind the right spirit, you'll have multiple spells available, as well as Rune spells - and not only from your own cult)
  22. Sounds like a thing to go into the GMs book... Or a part of the crafter gods in the cults book. Certainly the ability for crafters to have higher quality items should be in GMs. And the relevant Rune metals should make associated enchantments easier. Crafters having the magical knowledge (Rune spell) to make enchanting easier also makes sense in such a mythical and magical world. Presumably at Rune Master level..
  23. What if a Chaos creature has an arm growing out of their head/leg??
  24. The above argument about Yelm/Storm is actually handy for the thread, as it shows how the same basic myths can be seen from very different angles, and have very different stations and paths for HQers. Q: anyone have any ideas how the other gods see this? We know the Darkness gods weren't too happy, but how do they see the other details? (Orlanth slaying Yelm, the LBQ?) Or the Sea or Earth gods?? And, these differences in the myths see where you can all have fun, as cultists in the same HQ party could accidentally invoke different aspects (or have different interpretations of the stations). And that's without intentionally changing things. And, being a only myths, none of them are wrong! I also second buying @soltakss book! @None, I think you'd like reading the bits about changing the myths, and the consequences of that! It makes for more fun and hilarity 🤣
