  1. Looking forward to it! When did the name change from Player's Handbook?
  2. I just remembered this blog entry from last summer announcing the release of Arthur the Soldier by Chris Gidlow, which is to be the relaunch of the Pendragon fiction line. Since it wasn't released in November, I was wondering about the current status of this book. Amazon is listing a July 2024 release here. Or did I just miss an announcement?
  3. I was looking over the pinned thread for Starter Set errata, and noticed this in the initial post. Is there a compilation of all the errata discovered so far? I'd love to be able to print a copy and slip it into my copy of the starter set.
  4. "It is a truth universally acknowledged that in his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
  5. I wish I had known this before I bought it on eBay! Darn...
  6. Thank you AlHazred for this incredibly useful resource! I made a preliminary start on a similar spreadsheet, but yours is much better. The Great Hall site should definitely include a link to it.
  7. Thanks for the addition, Scotty. I wish I could read French.
  8. Regarding the art: I don't have a problem with what has been revealed so far. I'm sure there will be a variety of styles. One artist I hope they include is Eric Hotz. He's done a lot of RPG work over the years (Ars Magica for instance), and can draw like a medieval artist who happens to live in the 21st century! Here is an example. Check the rest of his site for many other excellent pieces. EDIT: Actually, Eric Hotz did multiple illustrations for 5th edition. I guess I didn't need to point him out to anyone here! He is a great artist though.
  9. The primary source for all versions of the game is Mallory's Le Morte D'Arthur, with Chretien de Troyes' poems running a close second. The 13th-century anachronisms laid over the "historical" Arthur are quite intentional.
  10. Again, thank you for these glimpses into the design process and Greg's thoughts on the new edition. I'm really looking forward to it.
  11. Thanks to everyone who replied! It seems that the work has been done already. I am going to look into buying some of these issues, if they're cheap on eBay.
  12. Has anyone compiled a list of gaming magazine that have publish KAP articles over the years? I bet there is a wealth of resources out there. Assuming such a list doesn't exist (correct me if I'm wrong), I'll post one to start. - White Wolf Magazine issue 37: "The Treasure of Galilee", an adventure for Chaosium's Pendragon by Paul Cockburn, p. 8 This is available as a PDF on Drivethrurpg. Is it appropriate to past a link? If so, I will edit the post to include it. I will compile and keep a list from what everyone else contributes.
  13. I'm still really interested in helping out on this. The new Runequest wiki is making me a bit jealous! 🙂
  14. This is amazing. Are your players all Oxbridge-educated medieval scholars or something? They are definitely setting a high bar!
  15. piersb, I have really enjoyed reading this AP thread. The variety of styles and narrative devices you're using is brilliant. Please keep it up!
  16. Any chance at a sourcebook for Faerie? You could even call it "Castle of Bones" after the one that didn't get published back in the day.
  17. I think I would go with that. Me support for it comes from that cornerstone medieval English text, uh, Star Trek. Seriously, I like how they call all officers "Sir". To be fair, I would discuss the issue with players first and probably go with what they preferred.
  18. Suppose a player wanted to play a line of exclusively female knights. How would that work in the early periods? Perhaps they could pass as men. Then at the right period, Sir John could reveal herself to have been Sir Joan all along?
  19. I'm really happy about women knights being a central part of the rules. Almost all of the groups I've played in have included women, so it's important to me that games be inclusive. Also, there is no one true Arthurian story. Why not a variant with women knights? Now I am inspired to shake off my pandemic stasis, get out there and find a group. After it's safe again, of course. Edited to say that the art is really good!
  20. Robin Hood with Pendragon rules? I'll take a double helping of that, please!
  21. The reviews on The Green Knight have been excellent, and now I know that it has a lot of applicability to the game. Thanks for this. I want to see it in theatre, but I'm still a bit COVID-shy.
  22. Thank you very much for this David! It's fascinating to glimpse the early origins of one of the greatest role-playing games of all time. One can really see Pendragon being born in that marginalia. I look forward to future entries in the design journal. I will be following it like my favourite show.
  23. There's a Mythos story waiting to be written about all this, I'm sure.
  24. I have no server space to offer, but I am really looking forward to your annotations. I recently bought the first three Fantagraphics hardcovers. I just wish they would bring their Definitive Prince Valiant Companion back into print! Please let us know when you are able to get your rewritten annotations online.
  25. Harlem Unbound just got a stellar review over on rpg.net.
