  1. Now I want to know if the Maiden is Ginna Jar without making a chart
  2. Camels are just a kind of old-world llama, actually. You can breed them.
  3. she severed her name; it's her personal cut. they won't know (I guess the players at the table might know and share it)
  4. substituting people for the Lightbringer's quest is how we ended up with the Red Moon in the first place. They clearly were riffing off the Lightbringers' quest. The details might be different (we don't know AFAIK), but largely they did katabasis for the Sun Moon.
  5. "Evil is not Chaos" means they might overlap, but they're not identical. "Chaos is Evil (for all practical purposes)" and "Evil is not Chaos" are not the same phrases. You can engage in a lot of evil acts that aren't Chaotic!
  6. this i don't know, but if tiktok has taught me anything, it's that cows LOVE music
  7. it's always amusing that demons are as much an enemy of Chaos as anyone else
  8. Have you read Malkah's Notebook? I feel like you might like it.
  9. to clarify, a human pregnancy irl averages 280 days
  10. I think I just assume people age differently? So a 15yo Gloranthan is identical to a 15yo human, time be damned.
  11. the real question is when Sea begins
  12. I have to tell you that the people of y Wladfa would not appreciate that dissociation from Wales. They might be rough and tumble gaúchos, but they sure as heck are Welsh
  13. sir i live in new england and it was glorantha that finally provided the correct number of seasons for me
  14. i mean, i might if that was the table standard. some people like to play a little more... idk, 1978 D&D table? I don't know if there is a term for these kinds of styles of play. I don't think Runequest has a very strong play profile, in contrast to many newer game systems. In Mörk Borg, your characters are like tissues ("soft, strong, and disposable" - Ms White), in other games you explicitly discuss out-of-character things more like ... writing a novel? So it might be fine to be "hostile" at your Runequest player table.
  15. this is subject to the issue about player expectations. if it's going to ruin their character, any action potentially taken should be discussed. i think each table has its own expectations about the level of player power over their own character (and of course it absolutely varies from game to game... there are many systems out there where you choose to fail because there is a payoff for failure). basically, if the table expects that traumatic and disfiguring things can happen to characters, then sure. if you aren't sure, then figure out how to discuss these topics. personally i always erred on the side of honesty, but then again i like my games to be explicitly separating player and character knowledge so that you might well send your idiot son to make bad decisions because that's how he rolls? i know for a fact that this is definitely not the case for many tables.
  16. I believe the Seven Mothers Cult was deliberately engineered as an "entry-level initiation" to Lunar Society. Remember, the Red Goddess is a massively evangelising religion. It isn't like most of the other cults because it is somewhat akin to Christianity as a de novo god and religion whose followers are interested in aggressively proselytising. And in Glorantha, where your cult teaches you life skills, an entrance path for the new city-based faith of Lunarism is important. The Mothers focus on the basics of indoctrination, the seven virtues of Sedenya, and basic learnin' about what it means to join the Lunar civilisation. For a lot of people, that's all they need, even inside the Empire proper. They aren't capable, interested, or trusted in diving deeply into a specific cult. If they are, they'll probably choose one of the Mothers and be selected by the priests.
  17. lmao houses are the lego bricks of Prax
  18. did giants succumb to Chaos when Genert fell? also, i'm imagining seeing ruins and explaining the anti-giant roofs to someone who didn't realise how prevalent they were
  19. presumably when the horse was tamed, so was Elmal. There's often a lot of land to cover when you are guarding the territory.
  20. i don't know this retcon but I imagine they all arrived half a milennia ago when Moon flora were able to be grown again. Presumably they were unavailable after the Blue Moon cracked.
  21. squish the baby [with the Block] (don't squish the baby!)
  22. potatos can kill: you just use the "eyes", which contain glycoalkaloids. that's why you have to remove the eyes before you eat them!
  23. Apikoros "Epicurean" is the Hebrew word for "heretic", replacing the earlier term minim ("sectarians") once the division between Christian and Jew became established. Nowadays the more common term in Aramaic, Hebrew and languages like Yiddish is derived from zindiq, a Persian term that means "follower of the Zend(-Avesta), i.e. Zoroastrian" - it was borrowed into Arabic as well.
