  1. I understood the question about "other games" and at least some of the responses to that question to include things outside of the BRP family. My question was a follow-up to that.
  2. Anyone here familiar with Everyday Heroes and its various licenses (Escape from New York, The Crow, etc.)? I'm wondering if they'd be good for something like Sin City.
  3. Hey, Mike. Just taking a look at the updated version. I think it still captures of the horror element of humans who are twisted by evil forces, while avoiding the potentially racist concerns of "degenerate ape men." Nice job.
  4. The "and" part there is very important: "These pathetic creatures are descended from the slaves and their smugglers ... "
  5. Perfect! Never listened to a lot of Metallica, but maybe I should start ...
  6. Any specific lyrics in particular?
  7. I was listening to XTC's Oranges and Lemons for the first time in an age, and I was struck by how much the lyrics to "Across This Antheap" rang of cosmic horror. How about you? Any songs you recommend for some good old-fashioned Lovercraftian despair?!
  8. Me again. Did some Googling and found this thread: https://forum.rpg.net/index.php?threads/cthulhu-vs-hellraiser.192237/ The Mi-Go suggestion isn't bad.
  9. That's a tough one. Barker seems so different from Lovecraft to me, I'd have some trouble picking equivalents. I suppose Leviathan is a bit Lovecraftian in some ways. And the Cenobites were humans once, so perhaps they could be cultists who have acquired enough magic / incomprehensible science that they've achieved Cenobite-like powers. They've invented their own mythology around Leviathan, not realizing that they don't really know anything about what it really is, but have created the puzzles to test people for recruitment and/or sacrifice.
  10. Nothing to contribute yet, but interested in the discussion. I've read the chase rules, written up a decent summary, and hope to try them out soon. I'll admit, I'm a bit skeptical, but then again, I've never had a lot of love for chase rules in any system. Still, I'll run them as written before making any judgments. 🙂
  11. I don't think pepper spray or mace existed in the 1920s.
  12. Yah, I'm thinking it's more than a little of an homage.
  13. Indeed, which is why it's always strange to me when someone asks me to do just that. 😄
  14. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to explain why I find some things fun. 🙂. I liked ME, but I had no desire to recreate the books for the purposes of gaming. I liked the idea of gaming in ME, but wanted higher action and magic. MERP fit the bill. Sorry: that's the best I can do.
  15. Some folks, myself included, were interested in playing a FRPG in ME without feeling like we were limited to canon, and were happy to take some liberties in the name of fun.
  16. Hmm, that's interesting, I hadn't thought about it that way. I could definitely see a legit GM ruling either way. I'd probably stick with the most bare minimum literal interpretation, and allow the INT roll, if only to keep my player happy. 😄. Very curious to hear if there's an official ruling, though.
  17. You are quite correct: it does say "alter." Since it explicitly lists the things that one is prohibited from spending Luck on, and since the INT roll isn't one of those things, I'd allow it.
  18. Are there any published scenarios that make central use of the photography skill? Perhaps some Lovecraftian horror that can only be detected through film? ...
  19. I prefer a single skill list. It seems easier for the people I've introduced to various BRP / d100 games. It also has an old-school aesthetic appeal that I prefer.
  20. I have no idea if it's any good, but this is literally set in 1986: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/251896/The-Pipeline-A-Call-of-Cthulhu-Scenario-for-the-1980s Ha, an unofficial 80's character sheet: https://cthulhureborn.wordpress.com/2019/06/21/tonight-were-gonna-party-like-its-1984/ Oh, I think this is 80s too: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/220315/The-Dare
  21. Received my copy in the mail today. Lovely! And it has not just one, but two ribbon bookmarks! 😮 I feel so blessed! 😃
  22. Thanks. I actually posted in the corrections thread about this, but my post was deleted, so I assumed MOB had directed your attention to it.
  23. I haven't gone through thoroughly yet, but it looks like it has retained errata from the BGB (and per the nearby sticky thread).
