  1. It's not about simplistic, it's about actual proof. If you say, 'I don't believe in your storm god!' And I lightning bolt you a couple of times, it's going to give you serious pause for thought. Even the purest of Malioni believe in Gods, they just think they are jumped up spirits and we shouldn't be boosting their egos.
  2. Just wondering how big the continents are, and the world itself? Does it kinda overlay on the Med? Ta.
  3. I think very few in Glorantha argue there are no gods, the argument is whether we should worship them or not, or try to overthrow them etc.
  4. Tell Meso and South America that! But seriously, GRoY and Enk hint at human sacrifice in Solar worship in the past and Shargash likes a taste.
  5. Off screen and not in your face, yes. Hope. 'Dry as a funeral drum.' So, no.
  6. I think modern research suggest that most fights weren't, 'To The Death!!!'. Gladiators were expensive things, expensive to buy, expensive to train and keep. Throwing that kind of money away frequently would quickly make it a really bad investment. The point was to make money, not to throw it at the crowd saying, 'Here, have this for S&G!'
  7. 'No. Let's not go there, tis a silly rule.' *Thanks to Pendrago...Monty Python for allowing me to slightly tweak that joke.
  8. I'm not sure why it would be associated with Orlanth at all, I would have her associated with Shafesora, the rain goddess of Peloria instead and Entekos, gentle wind god of the Yelm pantheon. Wrong side of the mountains for Orlanth.
  9. So you can't cast a light spell on the boss of a shield and have the same effect? Isn't every surface made up of 'points'? Besides the obvious, I'm not sure what the difference between a globe and half a globe of light is, please enlighten me? The price thing really is immaterial for players I think and really seems unfathomable for a cult spell, do the spirits demand more sacrifice, does it take less time to teach, are there more spirits with it so they are easier to 'catch'? It seems odd that a specialist spell is cheaper.
  10. I don't think it is that strong, in fact it is the same strength as a Light spell, so the only difference is it is 180 degrees only and a slight increase in distance. Sunbright it ain't. People behind will still see the light in front of them.
  11. Now Lantern is no longer a variable spell, what is the point[sic]? Yes it has a slightly larger area of effect, but it doesn't illuminate a whole circle [is the other half just normal light?], meaning you have to faf to do anything in it, unless the caster is at the back. Anyone got any sensible fixes to this almost duplicating 'light' spell?
  12. Yeah, sometimes people make mistakes, sometimes big ones.
  13. Let's say, alternatively, someone is trying to build a family. And let's get away from the Murder Munchkin.
  14. The city bit is a bit tenuous, if you had to go to his palace then, yes. City? Probably not.
  15. Yeah, I disagree, your qualification is circumspect. What does 'actively' mean? Always? when in an empty house with no one there and plenty of non restricted food? in a season of non sundays? In that respect none of them are detrimental, if you are not fighting, none of the martial ones are detrimental, if you are, they are [depending]. If you aren't in love or married or having sex, the celibacy ones aren't, but they are, if you are. If you don't have sex perhaps you don't miss it? I also suppose it depends on how much non-combat, jumpyclimby RPGing you do? If your horse's leg is broken and you are waiting for someone with enough healing for an hour, they it's detrimental, if you're not, it's not. Your definition is a bit vague to say the least and very very open to debate.
  16. Which are the mostly harmless ones? It seems to be more like a quarter.
  17. Except that it's not complete, your sorcery restricts the number of spirit magic spells you can know, for some bizarre reason.
  18. A lot of it. The smoothing of the stat bonuses, The char creation by age. Bringing spell into line with each other. The materials for the DM. incomplete creatures stuff Sorcery [even if it was flawed] Fleshing out of the other Elder Races to some degree [I assume you are just talking about the big box set or we could be here a loooong time] Other stuff I can't put my finger on at the mo.
  19. I think they do and there is no reason they shouldn't be on there. She would be associated with the White Sea and others that helped her near drown the world.
  20. Uggh, how dull! No offence but we [you and I] can do better than that. I've given her an Oslira voiced/centred myth and history [rather than the usual Orlanthi one masquerading as the God Learners], Summon Naga Rune spell and others away from the usual run of the mill ones [someone really has had a failure of imagination], and actual connections with the gods of where she is most important, rather than being associated [Associated!!! WTF?] with the god that supposedly destroyed her. Someone really seems to think that every female god that Orlanth looks at wants to get into his pants. Living in the 80's much?
