I'd rather leave it to my players to roleplay. They know RQ is a deadly game compared to D&D for example and have no wish to roll up new characters every session. By emphasizing they are a part of a society where most, including "monsters" like trolls accept surrender and ransom, and their actions have consequences the worst excesses of murder hobo-type play tend to be avoided. PTSD isn't really something you can give rules for. Its effects are longterm, not immediate, and vary considerably both in type and severity from person to person.

I don't intend to but if I did I'd take a look at CoC Dark Ages rules. A lot of things that our sensitive 1st world 21st century psyches would recoil from would not be as shocking to someone who had always lived in a violent world.

In my game rape and non-ritual cannibalism are treated a little like accepting a chaos feature. They give a chance of your becoming chaotic and changed in some way. The change won't be instant if it occurs. A rapist may find that over a period of a season they change into a broo.

And this one too, wish this forum had an easy way to edit posts (that I'm not missing)

edit: Berserker - want to use a 1H Axe in each hand for 2 attacks a round at6 a really good attack chance
-
Alynx were called shimmer cats in RQ2 IIRC and they were pretty sneaky

The only fault with BG's wide range of spells is too many options. Axe Trance - want to use a 2h axe for lower SR and more attacks a round Earth Shield - want to use a 1H Axe and Shield obviously Berserker - want to use a 1H Axe in each round for 2 attacks a round at a really good attack chance Whatever style of axe fighting your axe woman wants to go with BG has the spell for it

If anything it seems a bit odd that Humakt gives a spell that doesn't work on swords. The only doubt I'd have is should you be able to have parry and bladesharp active on 1 weapon at the same time.

I know somebody who took care of a distressed Scottish wildcat for a while and that was quite hard on their furniture and them. If its genuinely wild the size probably doesn't matter that much. -
Since the sacrificed POW is added to their runepool they aren't giving it up, but I can't see it being very high on their choices. ZZ has a lot of spells to choose from.

My review/musings on Weapons & Equipment

I would say that successful use of reputation gives you a bonus if a player uses it in a way that fits their reputation. 1 of my players has a Storm Bull ex-bandit. His reputation helps with Intimidation attempts or convincing people hes a good choice to help fight Lunars or Chaos, but probably wouldn't help him get a job as a caravan guard. Ofc players being players a lot of them will have really mixed reputations. "You're the guy who led the charge that saved the day at Dangerford. Didn't you kill Little Willem because he was sitting in your chair?" -

Your reputation if you are recognised (quite likely in your own clan) could get you a bonus or minus to the likelihood of someone helping you. Homeland Lore (again with a bonus for your own area or if the person has high reputation) to know something of the person you are dealing with. I wouldn't make a character roll on their own customs skill to know whats appropriate to offer or request, but if dealing with someone from another culture they might have to make a roll on their customs or elder race lore. -

Favours within a group might not even need to be tracked. Someone of your clan, unless they are a rival or a known freeloader, you'd probably help in minor ways in the expectation they'd do the same for you. I think its suggested that Loyalty (Clan) could be used here. -
Troll/Darkness cult for "Stealth" & "Secrecy" &c ?

Hide is 1 of the skills a ZZ cultist can use to qualify for Death Lord status. -

If you wanted a figure for the value of a favour I'd base it on ransom. Someone who is resurrected by the Chaleena Arroy healers is expected to pay them that amount and if they can't their cult or clan will and they will then owe their cult or clan. The thing about favours is that they are going to vary greatly in value. A noble who saves a herders life will probably forgo the favour and look generous, but a herder saving a noble's life would hope for a big reward. Most favours probably aren't for things as major as saving someones life. -

Good to get a sense of scale on them. Quite a bit larger than the Scottish wildcat which is what I've actually seen. -
Broadsword vs. Short Sword "problem"
JustAnotherVingan replied to JustAnotherVingan's topic in RuneQuest
Hunters often used quite long spears. I'd argue useful in massed formations or against a single foe, bad against several opponents in a skirmish which is a lot of RPG fights. -

A step too far for me, I use the same 1H Sword rule but my shortsword does pathetic damage. It makes no sense but hey its traditional.

My house rule of allowing one handed long spear 11 STR/7DEX/SR1/Dam 1D8+1. I'm so used to it I forget its a house rule. -

Impales used to be a reason for using shortswords rather than broadswords but now all specials do some sort of bonus damage and a broadsword user can choose if they want to try for an impale or a slash, and a slash is arguably a better result than an impale.
