  1. From the sounds of it, overall they are upgrading some of the printers to what is call ultra premium, so it will be better quality (hopefully) in the long run.
  2. This is just an update for those of you who have Jonstown Compendium products up on DTRPG and particularly for POD fulfilment. I don't know if you have seen this the price change announcement? Lightning Source, the print supplier has, increased costs for POD by up to 45%. So adjust your prices accordingly.
  3. I believe that was the plan or at least its been planned as a box set for some time now.
  4. So other than the Day of her reawakening as a Holy day for her cult, I was thinking about where to pull 4 other holy days. There is very little written about her so there is not much you can pull from so its mostly just make something up. So with that in mind, I have this as her next holy days. Windday of Movement week of Seas Season to mark the day when Orgorvale tamed the Wild White Stallion. Ulanin had unintentially challenged her newly learned riding ability and she proved him wrong. Clayday, Harmony Week of Fire season; Marks the Day that Orgorvale Summer Married Ulanin the Rider. Earth Season -N/A Dark Season - N/A
  5. This is also a High holy Day for Yinkin and Odayla as well, so if this is the case, then the same rules would apply.
  6. When I ran this recently, the other players were doing other stuff at the time back in Clearwine. So I would go back and forth between the two scenes.
  7. (Raises hand) I've run a lot of Shadowrun. So i think i know what you are getting at. The hunt itself should be solo, but the friends can help in every other way. The hunter wants to score some sweet points over the three weeks so finding the best hunting ground and judicious targets takes a lot of time and work and the more hand you have to help with the Legwork the better. I also think that you friends can help you with spells during the hunt, as well as be lookouts for you. Maybe even harry animals in your direction. Maybe they can also keep other hunters out of the area.
  8. Wrote up an Overview of the Adventure; Cattle Raid, which is in the GM's Adventure Book, that comes with the GM's Screen. You can check it out here on my blog.
  9. I just have a notepad open and write out the turn orders since Roll20's init tracker isn't designed for SR. I have it list 1-12 and write a name/ one word action next to the SR that a player or NPC goes on. You can use a white board or a spread sheet to make this easier.
  10. Overall, they are really enjoying the game. We've been playing for about 8 months now - think and just finished the last Adventure in the GMs Adventure Book. Slowly every few game session, I add a little bit of the lore into the game since I know several of them are not going to be reading up on the setting, that way they get exposed to it a little at a time. But all in all, they have no complaints and really like how the characters are members of their communities. I think the only thing that really tripped them up at first was Strike Ranks, but after a few combat rounds it all starts to make sense.
  11. Here is the first of (hopefully) many similar posts about some of the adventures I have run for Runequest so far: Blogpost
  12. When I ran the duel, it was stated before hand that the only spells that could be used were ones that you cast on yourself. No Summoning and no attack spells. They discussed and negotiated the terms of the duel beforehand with opposed rolls. The win condition was surrender or death. The prize was a, if the PC won the Orleving thane would take 5 of the cattle and leave. If the Orleving Thane won, then they would take the 50 cattle and ransom the Herdsmen that were present - PC could leave though.
  13. I've been greatly enjoying the series and I am looking forward to more.
  14. I work in film, so i think that's why i stuck with three. its a good storytelling tool for most media. lol
  15. The GM can make the call in the end. if you want you can do it a few ways. But overall it works just like Dodge and parry does for attacks.
  16. When running the various personalities in Runequest, I went through the GM Adventure book and put a label next to most of the npcs, each label had a name of an actor that I used to help capture who these characters were and how I wanted to portray them in my game. ( I used small sticky notes for this.) What actors spring to mind when you run the various personalities your players interact with? Here are the ones I use. Leika Black Spear: Angelina Jolie. Asborn Thriceborn: Willem Dafoe. Especially Williams Manic Energy since in films like Boondock Saints. Dunorl Brandgorsson: Anthony Hopkins. Ereneva Chan: Lisa Bonet Erannina Chan: Zoe Washburne Nameless: Grace Jones - Conan specifically. Gooseberry Sprig: Steve Buscemi Hartkos the Bearwalker: Danny Trejo I still have a few that I haven't decided on as of yet.
  17. Sorry, I should have made that more clear. Yes, the ties were measured by Success levels and not by the actual numbers.
  18. This past week in my game one of my players participated in the Great Hunt. Below I'm going to describe how I handled it in my game and how we made an epic moment for one of the PCs - improv the scene the whole way. From what I could find out about the Great hunt, both from reading and from asking around, the great Hunt is a 3 week ritual event where participates solo hunt and live capture animal(s) and bring them back to the ceremonial grounds where the Yinkin and Odayla High Priests or Priestesses award points based on what was bought forward to them. I left it open for any of my players to participate in this event, but only the Yinkin cultist joined. Anyway he set a high bar for his character though, he wanted to Live capture Redeye. the groups has encountered the Giant Boar twice before and survived each time. Now this one player wanted to try and live capture the beast. He had his character spend a few weeks leading up to this point trying to gather any information that his character could use in order to succeed at this monumental task but often came up with very little information. As the event was upon them, he decided to reach out to Yinkin for some guidance on the task that they had set for themselves. Everything up to now had suggested that the task was outside their capability. Using Divination, the player asked Yinkin how they would they be able to bring Red eye to heel or win the beast's respect and since the roll for Divination was pretty low, I made something up on the spot. the Vision: The player saw their character standing in the forest, their feet rooted to the forest's floor. Redeye came charging forth from the forest, running directly at the hero, but pulle dup short - testing the heroes resolve to remain unmoving. Then Redeye tried to intimidate the hero by thrashing it's tusks before them and stomping and running around in circles around the hero before charging the hero a second time, missing the hero with a second faint. Then Redeye approached the hero a third and final time, each standing only a number of meters away from the other, staring into the others eyes, into their spirit trying to intimate each other through sheer will and force of being. They could see waves of beastial energy coming off of Redeye and crashing against similar waves of energy from the hero, this continued until one of them won and all faded to black, the character unsure who won the contest in the vision. They then went into the forest a few days later and tracked Redeye to his lair where the events they saw in the vision happened. When Redeye tried it first Faint, to test the hero's resolve, I had the player roll their Stasis Rune. With a success they were able to remain unmoved. However, the player barely failed so their character took a step back from Redeye's first test. In the next test Redeye tried to intimidate the Hero and because the player lost the last test, redeye got a bonuses to this; +20%. Since Redeye didn't have the intimidate skill, I just gave him one at 80%. The player got to make an opposed roll against Redeye's intimidation and since the hero had received this the vision from Yinkin, they used their devotion to Yinkin to overcome this attack - believing in what Yinkin showed them. This time they were successful. In the final test , the hero made an opposed roll against Redeye's Beast Rune against the Character's Beast Rune. In preparation for this, however, the player used the last of their rune points and changed themselves into a Shadowcat - hoping that this would give them an edge. I thought it was a good idea so I gave the player a +20%. They rolled 5 times for this staring contest. Each time they tied. on the fifth time the player rolled a critical successes, but then Redeye also rolled a critical success. 30 minutes had passed and as such I had them both make CON checks to see if they can continue the test. The player failed this roll and blinked breaking the contest. Redeye charged, this time he was going to hit the PC but luck was on the hero's side and Redeye missed. At this point the player had the option to run away but instead decided to reinitiate the 3 tests instead. So we went through the whole ordeal again. When we got to the rolls for the beast runes, I gave both parties a penalty and in the end when they both failed in to roll a success for their beast rune, Redeye turned and left the area, giving the PC a bit acknowledgment and a small amount of respect by leaving them alive. So the Great hunt ended with a great story that no one will believe whenever the PC tells others about it. All the players really loved this battle and got them all pumped even though most of them could be apart of the event. I honestly had no idea what the player was going to decide to do but was able to improv something that none of us will forget for some time.
  19. I'm curious how your players developed the cult's holy days?
  20. I'm wondering if Jeff could enlighten us on Who are the "Salmon Men" who live next to the Salmon Clan, the Enjossi Clan lands?
  21. Some of that is coming along. Here is the list they are currently work on: https://trello.com/b/oaBvFslQ/talespire-roadmap But yes, right now its a nice way to do your battle maps.
  22. I played around with Taslespire for a bit over the weekend and I have to say its pretty kool, but I would wait til its out of the early release Alpha testing (or whatever its called). Its suppose to be system Agnostic but so far it doesn't have any built in character sheet stuff. They have stats you can setup, but there are only 4 and I think its mostly used for stuff like hit points, MP, and the like. Kind of waiting til they add more adjustable game system content so that I use this program to the same degree I use any other VTT.
  23. I just got it and haven't dug into it yet. So I don't have anything to show quiet yet.
  24. I've been treating it as a yes, its still acts like a normal experience roll at the end of the season. Generally, since the core book doesn't say to treat it differently I figure you don't treat it differently even if its only two weeks long. Though if someone wanted to house rule it, I don't see anything wrong with that.
