  1. Talespire just came out in early access and I was wondering who in the boards has been playing around it and are going to be using it for their games? Talespire is an online, digital, graphical way of playing classic P&P Role-playing games. A GM can build their campaign from a library of detailed 3D modules and minis, and invite players for sessions. Trailer I bought Talespire and have poked around inside of ita bit but it will be a little before I use it for my Runequest game. I don't have a ton of time to build anything right now.
  2. Really depends on Which of those runes they are following for sure. You don't need to follow all of them when you make a character. So I guess it should depend on which of those runes they like to align with the most. Disorder - for instance would just reflect how unorganized the character was and how even when something was organized for them, how they would easily find that ordering of tasks too complicated and break from it. Illusion - would probably be best reflected in a character not believing most things they hear that were truthful. But would be more likely to except lies at face value. Qanon for instance. Mu player has this as their highest Rune affinity, but not over 80% yet. Movement- this would be easy to reflect as a driving need to not be in the same place all the time. A well travelled trickster as it were.
  3. I mean, Its my thread and I asked a question pertaining to the subject so I think its ok.
  4. I was think of either treating it as a failed Luck roll from the other party members or as a successful Disorder roll from the trickster. In both cases just being a hidden GM roll.
  5. I'm also curious if any one uses The Trickster Flaw from Heroquest in their RQG game?
  6. So far, since he just started to play the character, no one knows that he is a t4rickster. He also hasn't openly done anything so far that would warrant anyone in the community to become suspicious of him outside of how any normal stranger would be viewed. As far as pretend initiation, it hasn't come up, but when asked he will say that he is an initiate into a Ancestor worship cult for Enjossi (the clan founder).
  7. The group is closer to Runegate than Clearwine, but I'm using the description of the Lightbringer's Temple from Clearwine as a basis for the one in Runegate, though a rebuilt version since the original one was destroyed when the Crimson bat attacked the town in 1602. Imagine with the one in Clearwine that Orlanth Adventurous is the Major cult within the Runegate temple in comparison to Orlanth Rex and Thunderous in the clearwine one (based on info from the Sartar Companion). I imagine that once the lunars were forced out the Orlanth Adventurous cultist returned to the town. I am also assuming that Kallvale the Sow is still the Chief Priestess in residence. Ya, I don't think Leika has a bond trickster, but other Runemasters in Clearwine probably do. I haven't read anything that suggests that the lightbringer temple wouldn't have a priest for each shrine, but you could be right that its maintain in a similar manner to how the Temple of all Deities is handled in Apple Lane, where a priest maintains several shrines for gods that are only associated cults. For my game though, I think I might make Starken Var of the Last Chance Inn a Hidden Trickster. He just seems to be the type to me. Ya, that was my thought as well. I'm sure someone somewhere would take Eurmal picking up a pebble and then tossing it away as evidence that Eurmal purposely causing the landslide to happen after that same pebble tumbled down hill when it landed, instead of just being a side effect of the disorder he represents taking affect in the world.
  8. I think your assuming that Eurmal is Loki too much. Thinking that he decided to do something. He just represents disorder, not chaos. Disorder is a natural disaster. Eurmal wondered into the darkness and Found Death and brought it out of the darkness. He was looking for it, he didn't Steal it. He just found it and brought it into the world. Then he just gave it to someone who gave him something in return. It think nothing more that Eurmal is pretty curious in general about stuff. He was on the Lightbringers quest because they needed him. Orlanth gave him something he needed and as such joined them.
  9. I've been told that, in good conditions, its a full days travel (on foot) from Apple Lane to Clearwine. Which would make travel to Rune Gate from Apple Lane being dsomewhere around 6-8 hours. Thats been the scale I've been working within roll20. For the Roll20 map of the Colymar region, I set the Hex grid up so that each Hex is a single days worth of travel (by Foot) to pass through.
  10. We are going to need a whole new slipcase for all of these books.
  11. So I get that Tricksters are frowned upon in Orlanthi society, and for good reason and that for the most part they are killed unless they are bound to an Orlanth Rune Master - who takes on the responsibility for the Trickster's actions. I get all of that. In my current game we have one Trickster whose main trickster trait isn't stealing but is a con man whose long term goal is to be the man behind the curtain who is pulling the strings. He has some loft goals, in my mind. Currently, no one knows that he is a trickster - so until he is discovered the orlanth binding hasn't happened yet. But there is a lot of aspects to a none exposed trickster or even a bonded trickster living in Orlanthi society that I am trying to warp my head around still. For instance, There is a Eurmal Shrine in every Lightbringer temple. I assume that these still follow the same rules of any other shrine and require at least one Rune Priest to maintain the shrine. If this is the case, if this was runegate, would the popluation of Runegate know who the person Eurmal Rune Priest was? I guess what i'm trying to get at is how open is the worship Eurmal. Is it like a known secret, for instance? Granted, I assume some people will offer worship Eurmal, lay member, in order to dissuade disorder or trickery taking root in their day to day lives.
  12. Something I missed earlier; The GM's Adventure Book say this takes place during Movement week of Storm Season, but a few people have said this was during Fire Season. Is it both?
  13. So this begs the question, what do the marshaled forces do when brought together? Training is a bit of a given, but what form does that usually take? or does all of this really reflect something more akin to the Highland games?
  14. Thanks Jeff! I really appreciate you giving your insight and advice into this post.
  15. I found, before game yesterday, while reading the Heroquest: Sartar Companion book, that there was a orgorvalite hero named Vestorfin; so when my players had encountered the Chief of the Anmangarn, One Vestorfin Tribute-taker, and were telling him about how they released Orgorvale Summer from a spell put on her by the EWF and were reestablishing her cult, Vestorfin told them about how he was named after a orgorvalite Hero due to being descendent from that bloodline. The reawakening of the Goddess seemed significant to him. Though, I don't think he will become an initiate since he has his hands full being a Storm Voice and clan chief. But he did tell of Vestorfin's hill nd its imprtance to the Orgorvalites in the past.
  16. That's all pretty true and the heroquest is a great idea. There isn't much written about her from what i have been able to pull up so far. So I'm unsure what her mythic deeds are. I was largely basing some of this off of the fact that it sounded like her people were non nomadic horse people who were in conflict occasionally with the grazelanders. But you're not wrong. Though this write up is a work in progress so it could change over time as the group messages whatever decisions they need to make.
  17. My group is going to run the Orgorvale Summer cult as its own cult instead of a sub-cult under Orlanth. So far what I have written up for the cult writeup is: Cult Runes: Man and Earth Initiate Requirements: Standard Favored Passions: Devotion (Orgorvale Summer), Loyalty (temple). Spirit Spells: Heal 1, Strength (2 pt.), Vigor (2 pt.) Common Rune Magic: All Special Rune Magic: Summon Ancestor, Summon Specific Ancestor, and Summon Spirit Teacher. Cult Skills: Herding, Riding (Horse), Homeland (local), Understand Herd beast, Worship (Orgorvale), Animal Lore, Staff Sling Cult Weapon Skill (players picked this). Associated Cults: Orlanth: Provides? Ernalda: Provides? Yelmalio: Provides? Elmal: Provides? Argan Argar: Provides? Ulanin The Rider: Provides? Still working on what Rune spells these associated cults would provide.
  18. Sweet! I'll update the list
  19. Those are all fun suggestions. I'm wondering if there is any updated information on who all the current 1625 Clan Chiefs are in the Coylmar tribe? The GM Adventure book gives us a few but doesn't list all of them, but the best I can come up with by looking at Heroquest resources is the follow: Anmangarn: Vestorfin Antorling: Arnoring: Londra of Londros (Maybe?) Enhyli: Enjossi: Ernaldori: Baranthos son of Dunorl the Old Hiording: Varangost Konthasos: Henth the Steady(?) Narri: Orlmarth: Savan Kenstrelsson Taraling: Verinos the Old Varmandi: Korol Serpent-Tongue
  20. I think because of the Duck Hunt though, they are now attached to the Lismelder tribe currently. I vaguely remember hearing this somewhere. Though, i guess it could come up that one or a few of the clan would see a benefit in approaching the Ducks with a friendly gesture.
  21. Ya, Having the PDFs for Thunder Rebels has helped a lot to flesh out a bunch of the Holy days. Also, that week is the start of the Great Hunt, which will make things interesting. I think I'll be switching between several players for at least two sessions for that three week period in general. Bounching back and forth between the players who are particiapating in the Solo Live capture hunt of the Great Hunt, theose who will be at the Assembly for one reason or another, and those who are particapting in certain rites during the week(s). It should be fun and help cement them even further into the community aspect of the game. One of the issue I think I have planned to come up during the Tribal Assembly is Queen Leika gauging the tribes general support of Kellyr Starbrow. By this point She has already give the new prince of Sartar her backing. Given her reluctance, I had her uses Queen's Day to add more significates to the announcement so that others would see this at as something more than just words. That being said, I figure she would be trying to see where each of the clan heads lean as far as supporting Kellyr goes, since - seeing the post about Jeff's FB notes on Kellyr, the clan doesn't see her as their liberator in the someway that some of the other tribes do. And I'm sure some of the Kellyr rumors will come up - along with the idea of her possible connection to Dragons ( which will have a few worried and scared).
  22. I don't recall it having suggests in there for what is discussed at one of these. Though I will check again. Though I do know that I pulled some of how the Tribal assembly is setup from Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes pg 216. But my reading of this book (PDF) is very sporadic, so it is possible I glossed over a few things.
  23. According to pg 15 of the GM Adventure Book, under the Colymar section, the Tribal Assemby happen once a year. during Movement Week of Storm Season. So thats why i was thinking it would probably be just the week. This a course has it also overlap with several other holy days and ritual events as well. So its a busy time of the year leading up to sacred time. Thanks for the list of ideas; I'll be making note and adding this into the few scenes I have planned.. Looking forward to see what else others have to add.
  24. My players are wrapping up on the Dragon of the Thunder Hills adventure and I'm planning the Tribal Assembly with the idea that a few of them will be present for part of it. I imagine that the Tribal Assembly take most of, if not all of, a week. I think it was Heroquest: King of Sartar or Sartar Companion listed what each spot in the assembly is or what God that position represents. But I'm scratching my head thinking of what the members of the Tribal Assembly will be discussing other than the news of the Starbrow's plan to carry out the LB Quest during sacred time. Any insight or suggestions?
  25. Sorry for resurrecting n somewhat older post, but I found most of this discussion useful. I came across another aspect this her case recently, in the Heroquest: Sartar kingdom of Heroes (or maybe the companion book) at the end of the one adventure in that book it states that after the Lunars burn down Gringles shop, the majority of the population of Apple Lane fled and the only people to remain afterwards was the priestesses of Uleria. Earlier, when I was first reading the rumors and came across this one, i kept wondering if the pervious Thane had a child, why wouldn't anyone in the village recognize this person claiming to her kid. I'll have to double check, but I think the new source for Apple lane, the GM Adventure Book, I believe other than the Temple Priestesses, the only person who was in apple lane before was Squanch the Grey Lord. Anyway, food for thought. I'm just now going to be laying the tracks for this one in my current game.
