  1. Exciting news - the 13th Age Glorantha Rulebook and the Glorantha Sourcebook were been released to Kickstarter backers earlier today! In the latest Kickstarter update, backers have been advised that their PDFs are ready to be downloaded from Backerkit. Both titles will be available for general purchase from Chaosium.com later this month: 13th Age Glorantha PDF (466pp) - $26.95 Glorantha Sourcebook PDF (226pp) - $19.95
  2. 13TH AGE GLORANTHA—now available in PDF! Greg Stafford’s classic fantasy world of richly imagined cultures, ferocious combat, and colliding mythologies comes to 13TH AGE, the d20-rolling game of heroic fantasy, escalating combat, One Unique Things, and limb-ripping owlbears! Buy the 13th Age Glorantha PDF now, and you'll get a coupon for the full price of the PDF back when the hardback book is released later this year. https://www.chaosium.com/13th-age-glorantha-pdf For Game Masters, the 466 page 13th Age Glorantha includes: —More than 80 pages of monsters and enemies fully compatible with any 13th Age campaign, including Chaos priests, dragonsnails, scorpionmen, Crater Makers who call down the Moon, and the awesome Chaos demon known as the Crimson Bat. —More than 60 pages of ready-to-run adventures and heroquests—venture into myth to refight the battles of the gods and gain their cosmic powers! —A distinctive setting that will entertain longtime fans but is aimed at gamers who've never heard of Glorantha. If you’re a 13th Age player you’ll find: —5 new classes, including the hell mother who summons Darkness spirits and giant spiders; the swordmaster Humakti who wields Death; and the trickster who (in theory!) funnels your bad luck onto your enemies. —5 new class variants, including the wind lord, a fighter with magical storm-related exploits; and the rebel, a rogue with the supernatural ability to get where he’s not supposed to be. —2 new PC races, the trolls and ducks, plus Gloranthan humans with new cultural traits.
  3. I watched the most amazingly bonkers Indian epic on the flight back to Melbourne from the US today—Baahubali! It's so Gloranthan, so RuneQuest (and so HQ and 13G too)! And as this enthusiastic Guardian review says, "The final 45 minutes roam a vast battlefield that, with its human shields and Boadicea-style murder chariots, makes Helms Deep resemble a punch-up in a chip shop." Catch it if you can, you won't be disappointed!
  4. This is Lee Moyer & Aaron McConnell's spectacular cover art for 13th Age Glorantha—you can see why the theme of the book is "Chaos is Rising"! And this is Jon Hodgson's glorious cover piece for the Glorantha Sourcebook, featuring the Crimson Bat! Both books will be available in PDF from Chaosium later this month.
  5. The Glorantha Sourcebook was released to 13th Age Glorantha Kickstarter backers today. Both titles will be available for general purchase from Chaosium.com later this month: 13th Age Glorantha PDF (466pp) - $26.95 Glorantha Sourcebook PDF (226pp) - $19.95
  6. Good news - layout for the RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha core book is underway! More news from Jason in the link: https://www.chaosium.com/blog/designing-the-new-runequest-part-21/
  7. Rob Heinsoo has just informed 13th Age Glorantha Kickstarter backers that we plan to start distributing the 13th Age Glorantha and the Glorantha Sourcebook PDFs next week! Right now, we're in the approvals phase rather than the production phase, and we're all thrilled! More details about next steps are in the most recent backer update, but as a preview of what's coming next week, here's a near-final version of the 13G front cover, as designed by Lee Moyer & Chris Huth:
  8. Hey folks, I want to play in Glorantha with (customized) OpenQuest. I've got OpenQuest 2nd Deluxe (print version) and tons of Mythras+ Glorantha+RQ2/RQ3 material. My intention is rules-light but I want to capture all the wonderful Glorantha flavors. Any tips and suggestions how this is handled? Thanks for any advice.
  9. A forthcoming New York exhibition by a once little-known artist who got an early break illustrating Wyrm's Footprints... (HT Nick Eden)
  10. Hey All - I humbly submit to you a tool that generates words, names, etc for roleplaying games. I noticed I had a pretty large number of generator lists built for Glorantha so I just wanted to share in case someone might find it useful. You can check it out here RPG Language Confluxer (Glorantha). Just a note - there are some data sets that are really small and tend to generate a lot of the same names or even some of the source names. This is, unfortunately, expected behavior. Enjoy!

This is my first attempt to design a new character sheet for HeroQuest Glorantha. It is designed to serve as both a worksheet for the as-you-go character creation method and a final character sheet. My goal was to create a sheet for conventions or other settings where I am introducing newcomers to the game. After giving them their culture, community, occupation, and runes, I could allow them to customize the sheet as the game progressed, creating their own additional abilities and boosting their abilities as they wish. I was inspired in part by the great fun I had playing Fate at a convention back in June. That experience showed me how it could be fun to modify a character as the adventure progressed. My next goal is to add a second page with space for notes on magic, companions, or other abilities that need explanation. I welcome any comments.

  22. This thread is to catch any typos or errors spotted in the Chapter 3 Preview of the 13th Age Glorantha book, recently sent to all backers of the Kickstarter . Please note them here, quoting the page number, the error, and the suggested correction. Cheers, MOB
  23. Spoiler warning: In the incredibly unlikely event that you are going to be playing in one of my games at u-con in November, please don't read this thread. First time poster here. I'm running a Gloranthan murder mystery using the Cortex + system at a convention in November and I have a question. The setup is that during the time of the Imperial occupation a Heortling stick-picker has found the bones of a murdered Imperial citizen lodged amongst the mud in the banks of the Stream near Duck Point. The PCs are going to be a motley association of Lunar-penumbra characters who get pulled in by the provincial overseer of Duck Point to help investigate with the threat of heavy-handed action from the Imperial Army hanging over them if they don't move quickly. Ideally, I want to be able to reveal that the victim was involved in some extremely unsavory practices -- something that would be shocking, even for cynical, world-weary Lunars. The obvious Gloranthan taboo is consorting with Chaos, but given the Empire's permissive attitude towards Chaos I'm not sure that makes sense...? Any thoughts on what would make for a good reveal? I'd like to stay away from the standard icky-boos like rape and child abuse because 1) they're hackneyed and 2) I want to keep it PG-13 as I don't know what kind of audience I'll get at the con.
  24. EN World is actively encouraging guest columnists! Although EN World might be best known for its DnD coverage they are actively trying to broaden their reach across the RPG sphere, and we are happy to support them in this worthy aim. They've covered RuneQuest quite a bit recently (frex, see here: http://bit.ly/2hHue9Z) and Glorantha often gets a mention (http://bit.ly/2ieWsNn). Chris Helton of EN World says, "the program is always looking for people who love #RPG games of all sorts and can communicate effectively", so if that's you why not have a go?
