  1. Why 13G? (review)

"13G gets an enthusiastic thumbs up... It is clear the authors love Glorantha, and their giddy enthusiasm is on every page", says long-time Glorantha devotee Andrew Logan Montgomery in his comprehensive review of 13th Age Glorantha. https://andrewloganmontgomery.blogspot.com.au/2018/03/13th-age-glorantha-review.html He poses the question, why bother with 13G?: "For 13th Age fans the answer is simple. If you love that game, there is every chance that you will love Glorantha, given the fact that both Rob Heinsoo and Jonathan Tweet do. Glorantha's influence on the Dragon Empire, for example, is evident in the mythic extravagance of that world. Places like Starport, beings like the Koru Behemoths, even the Icons themselves show Gloranthan inspiration. How could you not be curious after reading Heinsoo's dedication? But seriously, this is one of the most storied and significant settings in fantasy gaming, and 13G serves it up for a game you already love. Now is your chance to see what 40 years of fuss has been about." (He goes on to answer why RuneQuest and HeroQuest fans might like 13G too...)
  2. 13th Age Glorantha authors Jonathan Tweet and Rob Heinsoo talk about their processes, design choices and influences for 13th Age RPG and recently-released 13th Age Glorantha in this Tableplay Podcast interview. They also recount their abiding interest in Glorantha and how that started for them both, and give their "elevator pitches" for 13G (that starts 1.06)... A brief excerpt from the 13G elevator pitches: RH: "...Dragon Pass is a central area in Glorantha that actually literally exists between—though not everyone really knows it—the bodies of four living giant dragons." JT: "W-h-a-t??" RH: "And in between them you have this amazing vibrant area where all these cultures that are connected to different runes collide..." http://www.tableplaypodcast.com/episode051/
  3. If DriveThruRPG is the way you get your gaming stuff, the newly-released 13th Age Glorantha PDF is available there now too...
  4. 13TH AGE GLORANTHA—now available in PDF! Greg Stafford’s classic fantasy world of richly imagined cultures, ferocious combat, and colliding mythologies comes to 13TH AGE, the d20-rolling game of heroic fantasy, escalating combat, One Unique Things, and limb-ripping owlbears! Buy the 13th Age Glorantha PDF now, and you'll get a coupon for the full price of the PDF back when the hardback book is released later this year. https://www.chaosium.com/13th-age-glorantha-pdf For Game Masters, the 466 page 13th Age Glorantha includes: —More than 80 pages of monsters and enemies fully compatible with any 13th Age campaign, including Chaos priests, dragonsnails, scorpionmen, Crater Makers who call down the Moon, and the awesome Chaos demon known as the Crimson Bat. —More than 60 pages of ready-to-run adventures and heroquests—venture into myth to refight the battles of the gods and gain their cosmic powers! —A distinctive setting that will entertain longtime fans but is aimed at gamers who've never heard of Glorantha. If you’re a 13th Age player you’ll find: —5 new classes, including the hell mother who summons Darkness spirits and giant spiders; the swordmaster Humakti who wields Death; and the trickster who (in theory!) funnels your bad luck onto your enemies. —5 new class variants, including the wind lord, a fighter with magical storm-related exploits; and the rebel, a rogue with the supernatural ability to get where he’s not supposed to be. —2 new PC races, the trolls and ducks, plus Gloranthan humans with new cultural traits.

  9. Rob Heinsoo has just informed 13th Age Glorantha Kickstarter backers that we plan to start distributing the 13th Age Glorantha and the Glorantha Sourcebook PDFs next week! Right now, we're in the approvals phase rather than the production phase, and we're all thrilled! More details about next steps are in the most recent backer update, but as a preview of what's coming next week, here's a near-final version of the 13G front cover, as designed by Lee Moyer & Chris Huth:
  10. Great news: Rob Heinsoo has reported to backers that Chris Huth has finished with initial layout of all chapters. In fact he has also finished the first round of draft corrections! Rob is now going over things and preparing the second round. Then we're working to finish the appendices. The sample spreads below both feature art from Michelle Lockamy:
  11. In the latest Kickstarter up for 13th Age Glorantha, Rob says "I'm not making timing promises but we're getting close". We're now laying out the last chapter, Chapter 8: Adventures—after that comes the credits, appendices and the covers. When we've got the first version of the full PDF available for people, the plan is to turn on BackerKit fully to allow people to manage pledges and add books and other items. Go to the Kickstarter update for more details, including some layout spreads from Chapter 6: HeroQuests.
