  1. https://m.facebook.com/groups/320118915031859/ Hello all. I've been off on a hiatus but 2022 brought me back to Stormbringer playing online with @Marcus Bone and others. You may know me, as Merak Green here, as Kagemusha on Rpg.net, John Smith on FB, @DmnWrr on twitter, or Damon at Continuum. Like John Daker, I have had so many names I forget them. So I had the thought, why not? Why not ask for other GMs and players to play Stormbringer as an online con? We could have several GMs over different time zones, players around the world, we could have online games, hang outs, perhaps even interview sessions with authors and contributors? Its starting to feel a little like Waynestock, but it came to me in a dream. Can we make it real?

  3. On Saturday, April 25th, 2020, Darren Happens and Pookie would have been hosting Glorantha Games 2020, a one-day roleplaying convention dedicated to the world of Glorantha. Unfortunately, the global COVID-19 pandemic meant it was one of the first roleplaying events to be cancelled. The response in the gaming community has been to take our hobby online, so that is where Glorantha Games 2020 is going. Glorantha Games 2020: Glorantha Comes Home will take place on Saturday, October 3rd, not in Birmingham, but wherever you are. Just like Glorantha Games 2019, there will be two game sessions for the day, followed a pub meet at our virtual local. If you have a game you want to run on the day, whether for QuestWorlds, 13th Age Glorantha, and of course, RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, please let us know. Game sign-ups will be via Warhorn and each GM will arrange the means of running her game online. Please sign up here: https://warhorn.net/events/glorantha-games-2020 #WeAreAllUs!
  4. Two months to go until Glorantha Games 2020, the one-day convention dedicated to Greg Stafford’s Glorantha to be held in Birmingham on April 25th, 2020. We are looking for both players and GMs, with the day including two gaming sessions and a charity raffle with all monies going to Shelter. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/glorantha-games-2020-tickets-74628996337

  7. Next week Chaosium will be at NecronomiCon Providence, the expansive exploration and celebration of all the greats of weird fiction, including predecessors and contemporaries of Providence’s H.P. Lovecraft, and the many authors and artists who have forged their own paths of weird. Our team members MIKE MASON, LYNNE HARDY, JAMES LOWDER, and NICK NACARIO will be in attendance, and participating in a packed program of panels and games: everything they're getting up to at the link: https://www.chaosium.com/blogchaosium-is-coming-to-necronomicon-providence-next-week-aug-2225 We'll also have the latest Call of Cthulhu releases at our booth, including 'The Shadow Over Providence', produced specially for the convention.
  8. Call of Cthulhu comes to MOAB - the Mother Of All Battles convention in October! MOAB is Sydney’s premier wargaming convention, run annually on the October long weekend since 1990. Call of Cthulhu is running on Monday 7th October 2019, 10.00AM - 3.30PM. Walk-ups are welcome, but you can also register to play here. Every player goes into a lottery draw for a Call of Cthulhu Starter Set (if there are more than 20 players then a copy of Terror Australis will be added). MOAB takes place at the Sylvania Heights Community and Youth Club in Sylvania, Sydney NSW Australia. Many thanks to the Keepers from the Cult of Chaos who will be assisting with the staging of this event, which brings Call of Cthulhu to a new "Cthulhu curious" audience (wargamers!) https://www.chaosium.com/blogcall-of-cthulhu-at-the-mother-of-all-battles-convention-7-october-sydney-australia
  9. With just two days to go, there are still spaces left for Glorantha Games, the one-day gaming event in Birmingham dedicated to RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, HeroQuest, and 13th Age Glorantha. Suitable for both dedicated Gloranthaphiles and those new to the world of Glorantha, we are running twenty games and a charity raffle with all monies going to Shelter. Now with added helmet (and some really great raffle prizes). https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gloranthan-games-2019-tickets-51814039186
  10. Version 1.0.0

I created this file for Gamestorm in Portland in April, but I just realized that it might come in handy for others running Call of Cthulhu for new players (and new Keepers). It's basically just the rules from the corebook simplified into a single sheet for quick reference. I put it up on a display stand in front of my Keeper Screen so that everyone who sat down at the table could see it, especially when they were losing sanity through the convention adventures.
  11. Chimériades has an embarrassment of choice when it comes to great gaming and I had a huge amount of fun playing Herve the Trickster duck in the core book heroquest adventure "The Horn of Snakepipe Hollow" . It was a late night (10:30-1:30) session, so it was a little messy as we were all tired. Also the game was run bilingually by Jean-Christophe Cubertafon, as I was the only non-Francophone. It was an unusual group with I think 3 Troll PCs. With three points in "Song and Dance duck" background, there was indeed song and dance and used my bag of tricks with a succession of improvised weapons- a sacred vase of Ernalda; a dildo in the shape of the Red Emperor and a model of Kero Fen. I can confirm that taunt and fuster- cluck are fun additions to combat. 13th Age- putting the fun into F20 gaming.
  12. Next Saturday, I'm looking to run a "work in progress" scenario for Heroquest at Spaghetti Conjunction, a small friendly convention held in Geek Retreat, Birmingham (details on G+, Facebook communities or at https://spaghetticonjunction.wordpress.com/2018/01/02/spaghetti-conjunction-2a/ ) Title: Temple Heist Description: You have been hired by a member of the Tarsh Exiles to rob the new Lunar Temple the night before before it opens. What could possibly go wrong? Newcomers to Glorantha or Heroquest (or both) are very welcome. System: Heroquest Glorantha For 4 players max Afternoon session

  14. Hi, you may read my traditional KRAKEN report here: https://2ndage.blogspot.com/2017/10/the-kraken-2017-report.html Enjoy :-)
  15. Gianni Vacca has written up his Kraken experience, with contributions from others including me. Well worth a read with some news on upcoming Glorantha products. https://2ndage.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/the-kraken-2017-report.html?showComment=1509149725332#c5119860106138333359 Andrew
  16. If any good folk here are planning on attending Archon 41 at the end of this month month, I plan on running "Red Moon Rising" from Pavis: Gateway to Adventure there on Saturday afternoon. (After having made a set of the masks for Gen Con, it would be tragic to leave them sitting on the shelf.)
  17. Hi all, DevaCon is fast approaching! On April 29th in Chester, UK we're having a one day games convention in the Crowne Plaza (Prince of Wales suite). There'll be Call of Cthulhu, The One Ring, but also some non-Gloranthan RuneQuest! We'd love to see you there! https://devaconblog.wordpress.com/

  19. Hi all, I'm planning to go to Necronomicon this year. It's my first one, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect in terms of gaming. I was wondering what kind of presence Chaosium, and CoC in general I should expect to see?

  21. Based on... Original Author: Sandy Petersen – Origionally Appears in “Call of Cthulhu Quick Start Rulebook”. Convention Format: Rick Hughes pennteach@gmail.com, distribute and use as needed Rules: This has been written for 7th edition. Call of Cthulhu is the trademark of Chaosium Inc. Setting: 1920s, play length 3.5 hours, number of players 4-7 with pre-generated characters The major change is I removed the Dimensional Shambler and and changed Walter Corbitt (big bad guy) to a supernatural ghost. I also streamlined the encounter to complete in 3.5 hours. I removed most of the outside hooks and added a few details. CoC 101 - Haunted House.doc

  23. I have been out of the convention circuit for a while. This year I can make a summer one and if so, I will actually "launch" Skaerune' there. I will be at Jordan Con in April but am running the Sci Fi track there so won't be able to run any Skaerune. However, I am friends with the game director and if anyone wants to run some BRP stuff let me know and I can help facilitate that. (Jordan Con is in Atlanta, GA USA). So are there any decent sized summer conventions that allow someone to schedule and run their own games? It has to be in the US this year, next year I am hoping to be able to afford to go elsewhere. Any thoughts? I will also gladly support anyone who is interested in the running the game at cons as best that I can once the game catches on and gets some interest, which I think it will once the Quick Start guide is done. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
  24. This years Kraken was shorter than the biannual Gaming Vacation we have gotten used to from the Kraken team, but not having to wait another year for it I was quite happy with a shorter Gaming Retreat. In preparing for Kraken 2015 I found excellent use for the Guide of Glorantha. It worked perfectly as a bookpress for the booklets I was bringing for the Chant-Along event! This year I went down with 3 other Norwegians - Linda (my highly pregnant girlfriend) Jaran and Morten (a Kraken virgin). Me, Linda and Morten took the plane to Berlin on Friday and drove a rented car to Schloss Neuhausen, 2 hours north-west of Berlin, where Kraken is hosted. The Shuttlebus brough Jaran and the rest of the Krakeneers, but as it got stuck in traffic we started the convention with some quiet and relaxing hours at Schloss Neuhausen. When the ShuttleBus finally arrived, it was time for the opening ceremony which was held by the Kraken head organizer Fabian: We had a late night game called "The Omega Option", a Needles and Pins game created and GM'ed by Philip. It was a lot of fun, but due to player screw-up it ended early after about 3 hours with everyone getting sucked out of existence (maybe into a parallel dimension called Universe #1, we'll never know). Saturday started early with the game "Carry on up the Kartolin" a scenario written by Pete Nash for RQ6 (in Glorantha), GM'ed by Mark who had just gotten back to gaming after a long hiatus. We played a chaos infested lunar troop and my character was an ogre with the "Cook Sapient Flesh" skill and a frying pan in his inventory. Only heavy GM railroading kept prisoners and other players from my frying pan... Later the same day, we had Axe throwing and Bow practice under the guidance of Risto, one of our Finnish friends. No major injuries this year either! Then I attended Chaosiums seminar by the name "What's up Chaosium?" hosted by Jeff, Neil and MOB - the contents of which has already been discussed in the forums. Ending that day was the Chant-Along-A-Squid - where we chantet/sung/screamed the ancient lyrics of familiar tunes to summon the old and outer gods. It was the best Chant-Along I've hosted so far, but alas, the world is still not overrun with monsters, so better luck next year! We ate a heart during the Chant-Along. It looked human. I'm not saying it was human, but I'm not not saying it either. It went down with Norwegian potatoe-spirits. Sunday, last full day of the convention, we started with the game "Akkadian Stars" - a science fantasy scenario by Jason Durall, using Magic World rules. Lot of fun! And we survived! Then we had the pancake wars - Finnish vs. Belgian Dutch pancakes. The Finnish took the victory. It took several hours before I recovered from the huge one I ate. Later I had a productive talk with Jeff, Neil and MOB (the Chaosium guys at the Con). We'll get back to this in a few days. Closing ceremony Sunday Evening to mark the end of another great convention at Schloss Neuhausen, with the guests of honor in front: We managed to squeeze in another game in the cellar - "Folklore" - a new fun game by Pedro Ziviani An that was it! Now we have to wait an entire year for more! It comes with my highest recommendations. If you have the chance to attend next year, grab it!
