So, the year-long struggle between the Alephtar forums and international spammers has come to an end. With a crushing (albeit pyrrhic, as they now have one less forum to spam) victory for the bad guys. I could not even recover the messages there, as the provider deleted the overloaded database while I was purposefully without connection for one week - floating internetless in the Gulf of Castellammare. Nothing too bad, as the biggest use the forums saw for the last two years was Smiorgan organising an online Elric game, but it still bugs me a little. The link on the front page has been redirected towards this forum, at least temporarily. What do people think? Is a new forum necessary to discuss RD100 rules or does this one suffice?
Since the forums changed platform I find it a bit harder to follow active threads. With only new threads appearing in the right column, instead of all new posts as it was earlier, all those long-winded discussions tend to be a bit harder to keep track of. As it is now I have to go into each sub-forum to get a better idea of what's new. And yes, I know there is a page called View New Content, but I still think a chronological list of all posts on the main page would be a big improvement. As it is now, I get the (completely false) image that not much is happening on the forum - not exactly the impression newcomers should get. Anyone else feels like this?
The activity in the hive have slowed down a bit, warranting a consolidation of two forums. Again, the bigger one ate a smaller one, so that all the post from the former "Outside the hive" forum have been moved to the "Basic Roleplaying" forum. The description of the forum have also been changed, to include "anything RPG related." So basically, one forum to rule them all, and one forum for the supplements. Cheers, Sverre.
