  1. The next best thing from Sweden is now available in English! My scenario, Gold Fever, which snatched the silver prize in the 2022 national Swedish Call of Cthulhu-competition is now available in English. This version also includes more content, extra handouts and alternatives for relocating it to the North American east coast! In the summer of 1927, after being contacted by a wealthy family to find their youngest son, a modest bank clerk, the Investigators begin following a trail that leads them away from the modern comforts of the Capital, towards something darker and more primal. A foolish dream of riches and wealth has led the young clerk and his friends on a collision course with an ancient horror. Stopping it will require the Investigators to journey from the gilded halls of high finance to the remote, unforgiving wilderness in the Arctic circle. All the while something is stirring in their dreams… Get it today for Pay-What-You-Want at DriveThruRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/411731/Gold-Fever--A-scenario-for-Call-of-Cthulhu
  2. The Miskatonic Repository Catalogue is an Excel 365 spreadsheet listing hundreds of titles available from Chaosium’s community content web store for Call of Cthulhu. Based on the information authors make available on DriveThruRPG product pages, it summarises the setting and time periods for each scenario, analyses price per page, links to two review sites and identifies best-sellers and titles that are available in print or foreign-language versions. Please note: there is no “added value” beyond what you could get by reading almost 920 product descriptions for yourself, hunting for online reviews and then deciding what to buy. If you have ever been frustrated searching four years’ output on DriveThruRPG, and wished that there was an easier way to find scenarios your group can use, this comprehensive catalogue might be just what you need. Yours for just $1.00. Updated at least once a month throughout 2022: last updated on 25-Sep-2022.
  3. I'm proud to present the Dark Ages of the Miskatonic Repository bundle on DriveThruRPG.com! $12.95 for 5 scenarios and 2 supplements from 4 writers for Cthulhu Dark Ages! www.drivethrurpg.com/product/406602/Miskatonic-Repository-of-the-Dark-Ages-BUNDLE?affiliate_id=3534349 Featuring: - The Copper Best Seller 'The Secret of Silcestre', and 'The Haunted Grove', by Andy Miller - The Silver Best Seller 'A Colour in a Dark Age', by Jonathan Baxter - 'The Bloated Saint', and the supplements '100 Encounters on the Road in the Dark Ages' and 'Expanded Occupations for Cthulhu Dark Ages', by Ryan Sheehan - and my own 'Branches of Bone' And if you enjoy any of the titles, please do leave the author a review!
  4. As one of its co-authors, I'm proud to announce the release of Hometown Horros, Vol. 1, a beautiful collaborative effort that makes its way to the Miskatonic Repository: Hometown Horrors, Vol. 1 contains 15 guided tours of the creepy, the spectacular, the terrifying, and the downright odd, all from places that our contributors call home. From the vacation homes of Martha’s Vineyard to the rural Appalachians, from Montreal to Havana, let our tour guides show you the best their hometowns have to offer for your Call of Cthulhu games. Each entry contains: a short history of the town, highlighting local landmarks and lore hooks to draw your investigators in and get them into harm’s way, and colorful NPCs to make a lasting impression. I authored the La Havana, Cuba chapter, and can attest the great care and hard work that was put into the project! You might even recognize some names from the growing Miskatonic Creators Circle. If you check it out, please let me or any of the authors know what you think!
  5. If you haven't seen it yet, my latest Miskatonic Repository adventure was posted, the Spark of Life. One of the stand-out features is that it was designed to be played with the Keeper and one player; which is why I'm calling it "An Isolated Investigator Adventure." It is my belief that a Call of Cthulhu adventure can be more frightening and tension filled if there is only one lonely player/Investigator. My question to the group is this... are adventures designed for just a single player something you'd be interested in? Is the mystery more terrifying or just frustratingly more difficult when it's explored alone? https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/278700/Spark-of-Life?src=hottest_filtered
  6. And with that, my Miskatonic Marathon of sixteen mini-reviews of titles drawn from the Miskatonic Repository over four days comes to end and brings the total number of titles reviewed to 85! Thank you everyone who was kind enough to provide me with a review copy. http://rlyehreviews.blogspot.com/search/label/Miskatonic%20Marathon
  7. I was hoping to get some clarification on what is and is not okay for inclusion in a Miskatonic Repository. "Material included in Chaosium products under license.Licensed material not available for community use includes, but is not limited to, the Mythos creations of Ramsey Campbell, the Mythos creations of Brian Lumley, and Mythos fiction released by Chaosium under license. Please check the copyright statements in your Chaosium products to determine ownership and copyright." So, I go to look at the copyright notice in 7e, and as far as I can tell from the copyrights listed "material included in Chaosium products under license" would include byakhee, fire vampires, Ithaqua, lloigor, Tsathoggua, Atlach-Nacha... and everything by H.P. Lovecraft? So what mythos elements are allowed in a Misk Rep submission? Is there a distinction between material licensed from Arkham House and material licensed from Lumley that I'm not seeing?
  8. In partnership with DriveThruRPG Chaosium is launching a new way for Call of Cthulhu creators to write and share their original material, and make money too. Starting soon! More details here: https://www.chaosium.com/blog/introducing-the-miskatonic-repository

  10. When we launched the Miskatonic Repository community content program late last year we stipulated that, for the time being, all content had to be in English. This was just while we found our feet with the program, and had a chance to talk to all the various Call of Cthulhu foreign language licencees about the new resource. However, we are now happy to announce that the Miskatonic Repository is now open to Call of Cthulhu submissions in any language! We will update the Content Guidelines to reflect this shortly, but no need to delay if you have something you'd like to share. Please note all the other terms and conditions remain the same. (Please note our German friends Pegasus-Spiele, publishers of the German edition of Call of Cthulhu, have advised they will be launching a similar community content program exclusively for Deutsch language content later this year). https://www.chaosium.com/blogmiskatonic-monday-the-madness-extends-to-other-languages

  13. Over on the Chaosium news blog: Uploading your original Call of Cthulhu creations to the MISKATONIC REPOSITORY on DriveThruRPG for fun and profit—a quick Q&A to show just how easy it is... https://www.chaosium.com/blog/uploading-to-the-miskatonic-repository-for-fun-and-profit-a-quick-qa Q&A reprised here without the accompanying images: Q: First off, so what is the Miskatonic Repository? A: The Miskatonic Repository is a new way for creators to publish and distribute their own original Call of Cthulhu content including scenarios, settings, spells and more! Q: Is the Miskatonic Repository for Call of Cthulhu similar to the DMs Guild for Dungeons & Dragons? A: Yes! The Miskatonic Repository follows same general rules and model for revenue split as the DMs Guild. Q: How does the Miskatonic Repository work? A: You create original content, format it to our design template, and then upload the PDF to the Miskatonic Repository on DriveThruRPG. People can view your creation there and can download it if they wish—just like any other DTRPG product. Q: What kind of products are welcome in the Miskatonic Repository? A: Original Call of Cthulhu scenarios, settings, spells, stats for monsters, background dossiers, and campaign handouts— more info here. Q: Who owns material in the Miskatonic Repository? A: You retain the copyright of any original IP you create for the Miskatonic Repository. Chaosium owns the IP it provides for use including rules, settings, characters, concepts, plots, storylines etc. Q: Can I sell my Call of Cthulhu creations through the Miskatonic Repository? A: You sure can! You can set a price, make your product "pay what you want", or even make it free—entirely up to you. Retail sales revenues are split between the creator (i.e. you), One Bookshelf (DTRPG's parent company) and Chaosium. Q: How much of the sale price do I keep as the creator? A: 50%. One Bookshelf (DTRPG) gets 30% and Chaosium gets 20%. (Note: this is the same revenue split as the DMs Guild, the community content program for D&D). Details on how revenue split and payment works here. Q: How do I format my Miskatonic Repository creation? A: Chaosium has created easy-to-use style templates, which you can download for free: MS Word, Adobe InDesign Q: My Miskatonic Repository scenario needs art - what do I do? A: Chaosium has created Art Packs specifically for the Miskatonic Repository. They come as zip files of images which you are licensed to use for FREE in content submitted to the Miskatonic Repository: Weapons & Relics Art Pack Phantasmagorical Art Pack Ill Omens Art Pack Rogues' Gallery Art Pack Curious Things Art Pack Mythos Monster Silhouettes Art Pack Q: Can I use my own art in the Miskatonic Repository? A: You are most welcome to create or source your own art and graphics. We have also helpful links to libraries of copyright free images here. Q: Can I create and sell content for previous editions of Call of Cthulhu? A: No, Miskatonic Repository content must be for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition. If you have something for a previous edition, you must update it to 7th. Use our free conversion guide. Q: Where can I find out more information about submitting to the Miskatonic Repository? A: Check out the Guidelines here. And further information, including writing and art tips here. Q: What I really want is to be published by Chaosium itself one day; will participating here help? A: Indeed yes! We see the Miskatonic Repository as a launching site for writing talent and a place we'll be watching keenly for potential writers in our Call of Cthulhu line. We hope this information is helpful, and you consider contributing—Call of Cthulhu fans are super keen for new content, and we'd love to see your creations up there!
