  1. It looks as if I've not announced it before in it's very own thread, but if anyone finds them useful, there are some squads of NPCs I’ve generated, which I've just updated to version 1.3 to add loads of baddies (Aldryami, spiders, Cave Trolls and Elasmosaurus). https://basicroleplaying.org/files/file/851-npc-squads There are now: Humans: Orlanthi Warriors – the general muster, so more an armed rabble. Orlanthi Thanes – the leaders or hand-picked guards. Lunar Irregulars – Bunch of armed Lunars, I use as bandits and such. Lunar Light Infantry Lunar Heavy Infantry (only the strong need apply: the standard armour weights a ton) Lunar Chaos Infantry, as heavy infantry, but gone completely over to Chaos, with the odd Chaos feature thrown in, because which GM can resist a chaos feature! Mounts – for any of the above. Aldryami Dryads Brown Elves Green Elves Runners Uz: Dark Trolls Great Trolls Cave Trolls Trollkin (warriors, so better than the average) Chaos: Broo Scorpion men Beast Men: Ducks (Ducks and, More Ducks) Baboons Centaurs (Gosh the ENC of their gear, who knew? Limiting even with their strength!) Minotaurs Wind Children Spiders Web spinners, Small medium and large Monsters Griffins Hippogriffs Sky Bulls Unicorns Wyrms Wyverns Dinosaurs: Allosaurs Ankylosaurs Brontosaurs Deinonychus Elasmosaurus Magus-Magnus Magus-Mediocris Magus-Profundus Pteranodon Spinosaurus Trachodon Triceratops Tyrannosaurus I will add to the above, as required for my campaign. But it’s slow moving. However, if you have any requests message me. In general, it doesn’t take long to create the data file that controls NPC generation for a new species. It’s about an hour’s work, and then you can have as many as you want. They are, of course, generated by a program, driven by a data file. Mostly lists of weighted probabilities for stuff. It weights cults/weapons etc. to the NPC’s runes, and it tries to be intelligent with the probabilities for weapons and armour, so the equipment doesn’t look completely random (whilst matching STR DEX and Enc limits). Anyway, what you see are all computer generated, without moderation (or deletion/selection), and the first run sets. If anyone is interested, I’m happy to share the code (it’s windows .Net, C#, and driven by XML data files). However, it’s designed for my own use, I’ve made no attempt for it to be user friendly, and input is solely by editing a XML data file, fine for those who’re happy with XML and have a decent editor. If there is any desire, I could add a GUI, if anyone twists my arm.
  2. I've previously discussed drawing CoC adventure inspiration from the Hardy Boys since the classic mystery series launched in 1927 and the pre-1959 editions give a good feel for the era. However, Nancy Drew (1930) may be an even better fit. She's 18, out of school, has a fast car, enjoys a high Credit Rating, can call on her well-connected lawyer father for introductions and legal advice, is nosier than Pinocchio (regardless of what the Narrator says about her tact and good manners), and sometimes packs a rod. She looks like a debutant but thinks like Batman (who won't appear for another nine years). She doesn't have Bruce Wayne's dough but also doesn't have a job to tie her down -- lots of free time and freedom of movement. Who better to become a shoggoth-stomping sister?

  4. Something I would like to have for RQG are rules for Rabble and Extras, but I wonder if they appropiate to the RQG mindset. One unique feature of RQG are the "Consequences of Violence" (RQG p. 7), and the Bestiary comes up with the premise: "In RUNEQUEST, few creatures are mere cannon fodder— mobs of weaker monsters that can be cut down safely in large numbers. Instead, every creature is an individual" (RQG:Bestiary p.4). So, it seems that rules for Rabble/Extras contradict the guiding principles of RQG. What's your opinion (besides MGF) concerning this topic? I'm keen interested to read some arguments based on the RQG mindset.
  5. I made these statblocks while adapting the adventure "The Ancient City" from the Wheel of Time D20 campaign Prophecies of the Dragon for use in my RQG game. Figured since I spent the time writing them up, I may as well share them, in case anyone needs some quick stats apart from what's in the Bestiary. The file's also got the McGuffin artifact the adventurers are looking for, the Artifice of Brassion (written up in the Plunder format), as well as a high-powered Lunar priestess, Kryalyn, and her initiate companion Llana (both formerly of the Aes Sedai, in WoT). It should be noted that the Artifice isn't exactly intended for player use. But, if they manage to figure it out, good on 'em, I say. In the source material, it's used to "gentle" a male channeler. I.e., stop magician from being magic. broo warband.doc
  6. Hello all, I'm GMing and I'm looking for a good sheet to track wounds and status-effects for NPCs. Something which can track multiple NPCs on the same sheet would be ideal. Thank you

  10. The GM has asked us to come up with a patron to justify our tomb robbing party of lunar scum. Anyone got anything to help add color to this guy... all comments welcome even if it is to point out grammatical failure :-0 NABUZEL NINEQUILLS Outcast Irrippi Ontor Sage- Seeker of the treasures , Keeper of the Red Book secrets Seventh son of a powerful merchant prince Nabuzel rose to power in the libraries of Glamour but fell from grace (due to sneaking into forbidden areas of the great library stacks) and was sent across the empire. In his travels he used his knowledge gained from the Great Glamour library to track down and unearth the Red Book, an ancient God Learner text. With this knowledge he returned to Glamour and sought audience with the Emperor himself. They spoke for only 1 turn of the Moondial but in that time Nabuzel convinced the Emperor to give him money and resources to track down the items mentioned in the book…for what end…no one but Nabuzel and Emperor know. Nabuzel runs a rag tag band of mercenaries and lunar scum who ransack temples and forgotten places in search of the items mentioned in the Red Book. When items are uncovered he often comes in person (despite his large network of spies and well paid ears) to take the items back for safekeeping. Nabuzel is driven and uncompromising in his quest believing that he is acting as the Emperors own right hand…much to the displeasure of the Emperors right hand man!!! - Likeness John Hannah (Batiatus- Spartacus)
