So one thing that jumped out at me while poring over the Pirates & Dragons book were the size and detail of the gazeeteer entries for the Freeports like Safehaven. This signaled to me that the Freeports could be used as homebases and adventure locales in their own right. So I'm wondering what others have done with this. I'm currently considering reskinning Estarion - City of Knives to serve as the basis for my take on Safehaven. Also looking at 25 Port City Adventure Seeds (already created a D12 random table to go with the first seed). What ideas and resources have you used or considered for running adventures in and around Freeports?
Was looking at the Black Olvaldir's Fort entry in Pirate Places and was wondering how to handle sharkmen. Found Wereshark stats in the Big Damn Book of Monsters and for a bonus, Seawolf stats. I then realised that both the core book and Curious Creatures don't have any entries for Lycanthropes, which seems like a bit of a missed opportunity given the possibilities of (semi-)aquatic and tropical variations of Lycanthropes. Wondering what other people have thought about or done along these lines. Would also like to know what other relevant resources there are for this topic.
Hi, I'm new to BRP/D100 style gaming. I've been fortunate enough to be able to purchase hardcovers of the core book and Curious Creatures of the Dragon Isles. Have been enjoying poring over them in the last week or two and I'm looking forward to the eventual release of the Tortuga gazeeteer. Wondering where I can get PDF versions of the Character and Ship Sheets. All the best, Mamading
Whilst running my recent P&D campaign have found that due to the size of the party and the high POW of a couple of characters (notably a Shaman) there are a lot of doubloons about which are tending to put skill use and development in the shade a bit, particularly if the black spot comes out early as there is no penalty for use left. Will be discussing this with the players next session to see what they think but it looks like we may go down some house rules to balance things out. e.g. bring in rolled crits and lower the number of Doubloons available (say Pow/4 instead of Pow/2) or limit stacking possibly. Any suggestions, as I want to keep them, but as a precious resource rather than things to spend without thought to blow the enemy ship out of the water in a couple of rounds.
