  2. Has anyone tried using the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Pulp rules for a "Conanesque" game? I was at SaltCon in Utah back in March and one of the games that I played in, the GM had created an Conan adventure with the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Pulp and it worked very well. I was wondering if anyone else on this board has tried it and perhaps documented it.
  3. It seems to me that the quick start rules (Pulp Cthulhu p.41) result in a much more skilled character than the regular rules. The skill points for Archetype and personal skills seem to be same so I'll ignore them and concentrate on occupational skills. The quick start rules allow the following skills 80, 2X70, 2X60, 3X50, 40 and ignore Base values. This gives a total of 530 skill points. The normal rules are more variable so I'll assume an average value and that skill points are based on 2X(Core + Edu). Average core stat = (3.5+13)X5 = 82.5 Average Edu = (2X3.5+ 6)X5 = 65 Skill points = 2X(82.5+65) = 295 Assume an average of 15 for the base skill gives 8X15 = 120 a total of 415 Even if we assume that the player got very lucky with rolls, that would yield Core Stat = 95 Edu = 90 Skillpoints = 2X(95+90) = 370 Assume the player chooses the 8 highest skills, that would give 30 + 2X25 + 5X20 + 0 = 180 for a total of 550 skill points. Am I missing something?
  4. I'm not sure this goes here or not... but I heard the game is based on Openquest rather than CoC... Anyway, Raiders of R'lyeh is finally out for purchase in PDF form. It's huge and looks great. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/209168/Raiders-of-Rlyeh-Gamemasters-Guide--Core-Rules?affiliate_id=10748 It's aimed at Edwardian era horror adventures. It swings in a more action-adventure mode than old CoC... and has rules more in line with Openquest. It's been a long time coming and I'm kind of excited to finally get the chance to read it.
  5. Hello, I was going to pick up Pulp Cthulhu and was wondering if Astounding Adventures would also be a nice supplement to have too. I'm a COC newbie and picked up the 7th Edition rules. Thanks. Mike
  6. Only one review online, would love to hear more impressions! Has anyone read it or played it yet?
  7. Baron

I'm still preparing to start my new group of players on 1920s Call of Cthulhu. I'm acquiring figures, mostly 25mm but of necessity getting a few in 28mm. <Damn figure creep and marketing guys> I don't care so much about having the exact monsters from Cthulhu, I can use anything. And my PCs and NPCs will look archaic enough to my young players that I don't need to be a stickler for getting the costumes exactly right. But, what else to dress the table with? Buildings are just too much, but think what I could do with cars! Car chases, dodging monsters, ambushes and roadblocks, hard cover in a gun fight, the list goes on. So I went to the local, established and gritty model shop in town. Where they make models, dammit! And the guy shook his head radiating disapproval, because I'd made a fundamental error. Cars in the scale I'm looking for "just weren't made." Nothing even close. What do you all use? Or am I the only one who wants to line up the adventurers on one side of a car, and have the monsters come slithering and hopping out of the brush on the other side of the road? I really don't want to take the time to actually build my own models, although I could if I get desperate enough. Save me from hot glue, you're my only hope!

  10. Version 2.0

This is a collection of edges, minor abilities that are skill based. This file has been updated and expanded from the previous version with more edges, including some supernatural ones.
