  1. Hello hivemind! I just wanted to let ya'll know that ya'll is not a true contraction... Also, I recently created a youtube channel, and would really appreciate it if you came and subscribed. Maybe watch some of my content and all that. I make videos on all types of RPG related things, as well as LARP, the Cthulhu Mythos, Board games, and cool metal music. Thank you for taking the time to read this, below I have posted a link to my channel, and one of my top videos (which is on how to get around "railroading" in RPGs). Obviously my reviews and tips are just my opinions, and if you don't agree with them, leave a comment letting me know what I can do better! Also, if you have any suggestions or things you want to see my review, react to, or make a video on, let me know! If you also have a channel in this niche, let me know so I can support you! I call my fanbase "the Legion", so please join our growing Legion:) I truly care about those who take the time to support my content, and welcome all. Enter the gates. Step inside... My personal sanitarium. Finally, WE ARE ALL US! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-m0ZQCOCX4QaNugbUAsTiA/featured?view_as=subscriber
  2. Somewhere in rural New England there have been sightings of weird creatures, setting the locals unease skyrocketing and inciting the poor fools to seek out the cold truth. Join us for some Call of Cthulhu:) Scenario adapted from the story by H.P. Lovecraft "The Whisperer in Darkness", and keepered by Daniel Profeta aka Dethstrok9. Date: Saturday, 7/11/2020 Event Start Time: 5 pm EST https://youtu.be/XHnZ3Ia5ivE
  3. I made a very similar post in Alastor's scull inn, but I thought I'd make one here as well. Hello hivemind! 4. Rune Quest: Role-Playing in Glorantha; Dragon of Thunder Hills Chapter 1 (Here be Dragons) Actual play of some completely new players and new Game Master playing (or attempting to play) Rune Quest! Podcast style because some players would not consent to having their cameras recorded, so sit back and take a listen. Through the forests of Sartar and into the spirit of adventure and glory. Welcome to part 1 of Dethstrok9's new Rune Quest: Role-Playing in Glorantha actual play; The Dragon of Thunder Hills. This is chapter 1, entitled: Here be Dragons. In which two poor souls from the opposite spectrum of life and idealism met by chance (or fate) and band together for a common goal. Starting with just two players, but at least one more adventurer will be joining soon. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy seeing the struggle to pronounce Sartar:)
  5. Hello my friends, I am officially the proud owner of the RuneQuest: Role-Playing in Glorantha Slipcase Set! Woohoo!!! What follows is a brief summary of what I like so far from just a quick flip through, and my unboxing and first impressions video (more Gloranthan? content to come). First off, I love the fact that this system is what inspired BRP, and the fast paced and deadly combat system. These two things along make this game better than D&D, which is my main comparison point since it is the only other fantasy game I have played. Next, the magic seems very involved and varied, with far more potential than most other systems I've played for staying unique and engaging with spirits, cults, and runes added to the mix. I found the lack of classes quite interesting and felt it was a step in the right direction for getting the focus off stats and onto creating a fun engaging story. In fact, all character creation seems like it deeply involves PCs in the world, which will make for very interesting role-play. The bestiary seemed a touch frugal to me, but perhaps I will warm up to it in time. It mainly seemed small compared to my collection of 4 books which hold hundreds if not thousands of monsters for D&D 5E, but I enjoy creating monsters and beasts and believe I will be able to convert some of my collection into RuneQuest rules. Please let me know if this line of thought is on the right track or if I'm just not understanding something about the apparent monster manual. The Game Master screen pack was a pleasant surprise as it contained awesome maps, a calendar, and a bunch of scenarios and adventures for any aspiring Game Master to start with. It was a collection of resources which I did not expect, and which filled me with a burning desire to run a game (will be getting my family to play with me so I can hone my GMing craft with this new system). Here is the actual video: All in all, this system looks exciting and innovative and I can't wait to try it out and get deeper into both the system and the lore of Glorantha. I would like to thank Chaosium for making this game, but also the WindWords podcast for getting me interested, and @soltakss for putting the game on my radar. We are all us.
  6. Old Men Play Runequest EP 22 - The Hole Truth Please note this is an unmoderated group of real life friends and there are some adult themes and swearing. I apologise for the audio quality on this video , craig that we use to record seperate audio has been crashing out due to the massive increase in internet traffic I believe. SO we only have the OBS audio source to work with. Craig provides indivdual audio tracks for each person, I usually attempt to remove as much background noise as I can although This is still a very amateur production. Because of this I have silenced some of the background audio and this is the most heavilly clipped video I have done. I hope you still can get some enjoyment from this video. Like a bronze age jonah and the whale , our heroes have been swallowed by some giant beast , but they find more questions than answers. Youtube video is available at https://youtu.be/BVPtDL-gKUs Free download of audio at internet archive https://archive.org/details/omprep22
  7. I am loving this system, and so felt it was time to go back to my roots and create a new "How to get into" mini series, this time focusing on the unique and awesome system/game/setting RQ:G
  8. We just obtained some HUGE NEWS about the new Mallus Monstrorum for Call of Cthulhu seventh edition. Here are the secrets unveiled, and the history of the clues we have gained. Here is everything we know so far and what to expect going forward in regards to the new 7E MM. And of course I'm swooning the whole time:)
  9. General top 5 for all role-playing games. As always I stress the importance of tying everything to the unfolding narrative, but also express the opinion that most puzzles actually are drags and must be used with caution.
  10. After running the scenario I though I should make a video review. So here is Dethstrok9's review of the Call of Cthulhu scenario Refractions of Glasston. 10/10, must obtain... You can download Refractions of Glasston for FREE here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/297601/Refractions-of-Glasston
  11. After completing our playthrough this seemed like the logical next step.
  12. Refractions of Glasston is the result of a creative collaboration between the Professional Writing department at Taylor University, Upland IN and Chaosium Inc. The creators are all students at Taylor University. As this fits perfectly into the themes of my channel, this is our LIVE playthrough. Elias Taylor Winters, the CEO of TWJ Co., discovered a secret to the glass-making process that finally put him above his long-standing competition: Ball Glass. Shattering expectations for such a small company in rural Indiana, Winters has put Glasston on the map. The town and its economy are booming. But not everything in Glasston is as it should be. Refractions of Glasston is a standalone scenario for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition. It takes place in a rural town in northwest Indiana, set in the 1920s. We are going live May 16, 2020. Saturday @ 5 PM Eastern Standard Time. Join us, if you dare! Also, I'm pretty excited to try out my new Zoom subscription, and you (hopefully) will be able to see everyone this stream! 13. Well, this is what to say to those who feel changing game elements is cheating or dishonest. All of this about whether or not fudging die rolls or other game components is cheating is completely subjective. This is my personal TTRPG Game Master Advice, and it's not a popular opinion. If you are always a player, maybe think twice before watching this one:) Also attempting to get more people to join the hive mind of the BRP forums. We are all Us.
  14. Dethstrok9 reviews the awesome new system for nearly every setting, Sabre second edition from Dragonsbane Entertainment! Link to the PDFs on DriveThruRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/10173/Dragonsbane-Entertainment From the author: "I'd like to announce the Sabre RPG System 2nd Edition has been rolling out for the past few weeks at DTRPG! It's a system built on foundations of realism, smooth play and flexibility, featuring a skill-based d100 core with passive talents, active manoeuvres, in-game "on-the-spot" character advancement and a simple but powerful magic system.
  15. Ignis Probat Speculo: the enigmatic Professor Deth is back and more insane than ever. His metaphors and deep sarcasm take on new meaning through the seemingly innocent imagery which darkly permeates this horror short film. Which is also an announcement for our latest Call of Cthulhu LIVEPLAY.
  16. ^%&^(&_^&*%^$$@$%*&^_^&%&(Y(^**(^&(&%^$$^*$$*%(&%&%(&Y)*&&*^&$%&%%#$^#@%#!%#@$^$^E Also SPOILER ALERT motivation is key END OF SPOILER ALERT.
  17. We go over what goes into making spells, and how much they differ from most other spell systems.
  18. Well. This has been done, I wash my hands of this OGL, my main point in this video is why I think Chaosium had every right to do what they did. I personally just don't think it should have been called an Open Game License.
  19. Have you been disappointed by combat in role-playing games? Well be that way no further, here is the perfect video for you! Taking inspiration from Sandy Peterson himself, Dethstrok9 goes over some of the best ways to make Call of Cthulhu 7E combat more engaging, exciting, and interesting!
  20. Call of Cthulhu Campaigns are cool...
  21. I have found a Lovecraft story which could be of great inspiration to Keepers about how to make simple things scary using hierarchy of knowledge.
  22. This cannot be true, I must've failed a sanity check...
