Videopete
I want to start a campaign, my players are all over the place and quarantine has locked them down, so no face to face. What are my options and how do I start, what's a good guide. I'm planning on running RQ 2 to Rune Quest Glorantha Hybrid. Essentially I'm cutting out alot of the RQG stuff and introducing it gradually.
Puckohue
roll20.net for maps, face-video, character sheets, chat and dice. Parallel discord-server with voice. Edit: and Kanka.io for documentation. Brootse
My group uses Discord. A voice channel for discussion, and a main gaming text channel for dice bot, handouts, and other active roleplaying stuff. One player has digitized his character sheets, and for others I as the DM keep records. After scenarios I send scans of the character sheets to players. And we have other text channels for keeping records of dead characters' sagas, rules discussion, Glorantha discussion, general chat, low brow humor, and for discussing when we are going to play the next time. e: We used Skype for video once when the characters were playing the Faro Wheel in Casino Town, so that the players could see my toy roulette set. The Faro Wheel worked as a normal roulette, except that fumbled Luck checks invalidated wins. Edited April 7, 2020 by Brootse
Marc
I'll put in another vote for roll20.net. I've been running a game there for over a year now, and have had good results. The RQG character sheet there is very helpful. Here's a link to a short help file I put together for it: https://drive.google.com/open?id=10xGE1V_Mkd_WCUrW5LumAm0tJS6evfgC It is still a work in progress, so any feedback is appreciated. 2
ChrisJ
We just started using roll20 last week and fint the in game character sheets very useful - this guide is excellent and a good help to learning the features. One thing we've not yet had to navigate is exp checks - I'm not seeing any functionality in game and expect that will be some "/roll d100+mod" on the side. Marc
Actually, if you look on the Skills page of the character sheet, you will see a Luck Rune next to each Skill Category bonus. When you click on that, a dialog box opens, asking for the current skill percentage of the skill you are checking. When you click on submit, it does the experience check roll. ChrisJ
Neat - Thanks for the explanation.
g33k
I'll toss in Astraltabletop alongside Roll20. Astral seems to be working (at least a little bit) with Chaosium... They got some official-ish CoC content up, at least! Also, their paid/premium service is free(!) through end-of-April/2020 (because covid, I think). I don't think any of the VTT services have any official RQ (or HQ/13G) Glorantha content, alas... tho I see @Marc points to an official-ish(?) RQ character-sheet on Roll20? Then there is Goin' Olde Schoole -- DIY'ing your own patchwork of tools/methods/channels for video/voice, textchat, game-logs, dice-roller app's, shared documents (maps, sheets, etc). dumuzid
The group I play in gets by with just discord, but we have homemade dicebot and don't use many maps.

I did this too for our most recent session (although our dicebot isn't homemade). Everyone took their paper sheets home after our last in-person session, and I have a scanner and have just been scanning bad sketches up for various locales or personages, or occasionally screen-shotting from other stuff. But, we haven't had to do combat yet. Quote Jonstown Compendium author. Find my publications here. Disclaimer: affiliate link. GAZZA
We use Roll20 and Skype. Nothing at all against discord, just we all happened to have Skype so might as well use it. The RQG character sheet works OK (though it is a bit annoying if you set things up on the minimal sheet and expect it to come through the main one), and as a GM I find an Excel spreadsheet is an easier way to keep track of monster location hit points, magic points, and the like, but it does do a decent job especially if you're fighting humanoid opponents. (Mud sharks, not so much ).
Monty Lovering
Roll20 for the virtual tabletop, character sheets and dice plus Discord for voice. In some respects the fog of war feature offers better functionality than playing face-to-face, for example when the players are exploring an area.
gochie
We use Discord with a Dicebot. Roll20 is a good option too, but takes waaaaay more work to setup properly. I feel like it's worth it if you're big on battle maps, otherwise I would just use Discord to start. I also made fillable PDFs for our adventurer sheets that players upload back onto Google Drive after each session.
Cgeist7
Online character management was one of the use cases for the Cradle of Heroes. You can create, manage update characters, track equipment, combat damage, take notes and GMs can use original or community content to create encounters very easily.
