'Secrets of Tibet' Misindexed on Chaosium.com

Recommended Posts

The old Secrets of Tibet supplement is listed for sale under '7th Edition Scenarios' on the website, but it is a sixth edition Call of Cthulhu product.

https://www.chaosium.com/7th-edition-scenarios/

https://www.chaosium.com/secrets-of-tibet/

Secrets of Tibet is then listed again under 'Classic Cthulhu Scenarios' with the other sixth edition products.

Hi, Secrets of Tibet is written for 7th edition.

It is wrongly placed in the classic / 6e section of the web store - we will move it from here.

Thanks

You're welcome. Note that the 'Other Details' for Secrets of Tibet states, "Version: 6th Edition Call of Cthulhu," so that description needs to be edited as well.

@Mike M FYI, the description for Secrets of Tibet still states 6th Edition Call of Cthulhu. Also, six out of the eleven products on the Classic Cthulhu Scenarios fail to state an edition at all which may confuse customers. I would make sure that all product descriptions explicitly state the edition of Call of Cthulhu for which it is intended.

That would make sense, although it is not too difficult to switch a scenario to work with a previous or later edition.

@Mike M moved Secrets of Tibet from the Classic Cthulhu section to the 7th edition section of the website, so the product description should match this change. I believe that Secrets of Tibet states in the book itself that the supplement was designed for the 7th edition, so mentioning the 6th edition in the description is erroneous.

It's always helpful if you list the issues when you find them. Otherwise I'm off on a hunt! Thanks for the heads up.

Here are the six Classic Cthulhu print books with no indication of the edition in their descriptions (i.e., there is no 'Other Details' section):

Canis Mysterium
Arkham Now
Atomic-Age Cthulhu
H.P. Lovecrafts Dreamlands
Secrets of Morocco
The Stars Are Right!

https://www.chaosium.com/classic-cthulhu-scenarios/

The following Classic Cthulhu PDF versions either have no 'Other Details' section indicating the edition or the 'Other Details' section is incomplete:

Arkham Now PDF
Atomic-Age Cthulhu PDF
Beyond the Mountains of Madness PDF
Blood Brothers PDF
Dark Designs PDF
H.P. Lovecrafts Dreamlands PDF
In the Shadows PDF
Secrets of Morocco - PDF
Secrets of New York PDF
The Stars Are Right! PDF

FYI, The Fragments of Fear PDF in the Classic Cthulhu PDF section appears to have the wrong edition. I believe the book is from 1985 but its description states it is for the 6th edition.

Following up on this post after @Scotty had a chance to do some work on the website.

All items under Classic Cthulhu that should have an edition listed now have an edition in 'Other Details' except for the two below:

Canis Mysterium (print version)

https://www.chaosium.com/canis-mysterium/

Cthulhu Companion PDF

https://www.chaosium.com/cthulhu-companion-pdf/

Campaign setting books such as Cthulhu Invictus, Cthulhu Dark Ages, and Cthulhu by Gaslight presumably don't have an edition listed as they are their own rule systems.

They are background supplements so you need to have the main rules too. I'm currently updating the info on these.

You may want to check everything on the site, including other games such as Runequest. The Call of Cthulhu back catalogue material didn't have much of its necessary information listed before I brought this up, except for the most recent 7th edition releases.

For example, the older 7th edition Call of Cthulhu release, "Doors to Darkness," doesn't list the edition for both the print and the PDF versions as well as the year the supplement was published:

https://www.chaosium.com/doors-to-darkness-hardcover/

https://www.chaosium.com/doors-to-darkness-pdf/

The PDF of "Horror on the Orient Express" doesn't indicate that the campaign is for the 7th edition and also its publication year:

https://www.chaosium.com/horror-on-the-orient-express-pdf/

"Edition" is misspelled for the "Reign of Terror" supplement. :)

Good job on the recently upgraded Chaosium website. The layout of the site has been improved. You must have decided that the last few months of increased Internet traffic was worth the investment in a better site - not that the previous version wasn't appealing.

I found dead links on two pages in the Classic Cthulhu section:

https://www.chaosium.com/classic-cthulhu-scenarios/

"Need the rules? Go to the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition section."

"Just want the PDFs? Click here."

https://www.chaosium.com/classic-cthulhu-scenario-pdfs/

"Need the rules? Go to the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition section."

"Want the printed versions of the scenarios? Go here."

Found another error in the Classic Cthulhu section. The thumbnail image for the 'Classic Cthulhu Scenarios' print book page is "Secrets of Tibet," which is now in the 7th edition scenarios section instead of Classic Cthulhu. See the middle image on the page below.
