Clockwork & Chivalry

Recommended Posts

Sounds great. Apparently the freighter has landed on the shores of the far off Canadian colony. Amazon.ca has just shipped my copy of C&C that I ordered in the summer. :) Unfortunately the second book in the series The Alchemist's Wife, didn't make it to the docks in time. :(

Wasn't able to resist the temptation anymore and ordered the world book + the three first scenario books of the campaign. ;)

Welcome to the Muster :D

Now, grab a pike and prepare yourself for hell!

Signs and Portents 88 out now! This edition carries another brilliant Clockwork & Chivalry article by Colin Chapman (All Flesh Must Be Eaten, A/State, Atlantis, Atomic Highway, Faery's Tale Deluxe, Godlike, Hellas, Hollow Earth Expedition, Iron Kingdoms, No Quarter, Omni System, Talislanta, Unhallowed Metropolis, Waste World, Wild Talents, etc) of Radioactive Ape Designs.

Colin presents the first part of "Armes of Battel", an extensive guide to Seventeenth Century weaponry. I am expecting my players to shuffle up to the table even more tooled up than usual once they've read it!

The latest edition of Irregular Magazine carries a review of the Clockwork and Chivalry Corebook (page 60) :D

http://irregularmagazine.com/

I would recommend this free online mag anyway, even if it hadn't said nice things about us - it's full of rpg, mini painting and wargaming goodness.

I got the worldbook and first two campaign books a week ago. I should go into our Friday rotation next month to start running C&C.

First impressions (I'm trying to find time to do a proper review): High quality material. Character generation is consistent with MRQII, but nicely detailed and tailored to the period.

Clearly the focus is on ideological conflict (and the fisticuffs that ensue). The rules introduce Righteousness Points that can be used to win arguments, augment skills (that are being used to further the cause), and convert people. But Righteousness can cause a character to stand up against an opposing opponent, or take action when it may not be the most opportune time. These moments are sprinkled throughout the scenarios, and drive home the point that this is a time of wide division, deeply held conviction, and broad conflict.

That, with a long section of factions and the requirement that everyone take a side (although there are some more or less neutral positions), means that I think my players will greatly enjoy this.

I can't wait to run.

Steve

@Solardog - Lovely film (and with Airship Pirates looming doubly inspirational).

@Trifletraxor and Steve - Great stuff! I really hope you enjoy your campaigns :D

Could you put up the maps and npc portraits for the worldbook and the other campaign books on your site, just like you did for The Alchemist's Wife?

And a favicon for your site please! ;)

I don't see why not - we seem to have been running between deadlines, but will try to oblige :)

favicon-wise - I am the technophobe of the partnership, but will pass on your request,
