Rog
Hi all, New here, but I have played CoC in the past. Can I please run an idea past you all? I would like to write a CoC based solo adventure and publish it for free on a website. Essentially I would just be substituting traditional printed matter for an online version. This browser based adventure would not have any mechanics built in, i.e. it's not a standalone game. Instead of reading a printed book, they follow the plot in the browser with hyperlinks to different pages. Players would need to buy a CoC ruleset of some description from Chaosium and they would use pencil and paper and dice as per usual. I have read the terms of the Fan Material Policy and it seems okay, but I hit a grey area where it talks about software: https://www.chaosium.com/fan-material-policy/ I would be happy to hear anyone's thoughts and thanks for reading 🙂 Edited April 9, 2022 by Rog
soltakss
I would think that it is the same as publishing a free scenario on a website, which is allowed. So, it sounds as though that would be OK. Nick Brooke
I’ve checked with @MOB and this is fine. We don’t consider a browser-based solo adventure using hyperlinks for navigation to be “software.” Please follow all requirements of the Fan Material Policy, and reach out if you have any more questions (my email’s in my sig). 2 Quote Community Ambassador - Jonstown Compendium, Chaosium, Inc. Can the free character sheet here be redistributed please? https://www.chaosium.com/content/FreePDFs/CoC/Character Sheets/Character Sheet - base - Call of Cthulhu 7th Ed.pdf
