Agentorange
Which might seem an odd question, but hear me out.... Your average Rune spell lasts 15 minutes, there are some special durations....and then you've got enchantments which are permanent. But there does seem to be a big old gap in the middle. what about a spell lasts a week, or a season, or......a year , 5 years, 10 years ? Obviously not permanent, because well they're not permanent are they ? but equally they're not just your average rune spell either. If you wanted spells that could do this, how would you run the Rune point and POW costs ?

A good question indeed. I would break the answer down by pondering; is the enchantment permanent or is the rune point (rune?)... I would answer the rune point (let’s call it a rune)—so the immutable atom here on the marble might be equated with the fundamental particle of reality in Glorantha: The Rune! How to get POW to stay on the material realms would be one possible answer to that riddle and we might assume that enchantment is one ritual way to have a Rune hang around for a longggg time 27 minutes ago, Agentorange said: what about a spell lasts a week, or a season, or......a year , 5 years, 10 years ? Extension should cover this, no... 27 minutes ago, Agentorange said: If you wanted spells that could do this, how would you run the Rune point and POW costs ? Similar to the permanent cost in RPs for a similar enchantment is the first (and easiest) thing to come to mind for a spell doing the same... note the real cost will be the time committed to the spell. David Scott
As has already been mentioned, Extension would cover this. The actual spell description does not say that it can't be extended past 5 points. However the Rune points can't be regained until the Extension has expired. Assuming that every step after 5 doubles the duration (per sorcery): 6 2 years 7 4 years 8 8 years 9 16 years 10 32 years That's quite an investment of Rune points that can't be regained the spell expires, so a point of POW makes better sense. 2 Quote ----- Search the Glorantha Resource Site: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com. There are spells that last longer. Bless Champion lasts all day, as does Path Watch. Bless Woad creates stuff that lasts for ever but once applied loses potency over the course of days. If it makes sense for a spell to last more than 15 minutes, like Path Watch for instance, then just put it in the spell description. If it is quite powerful to have this effect up for a long time, then make it two or three points. Not as much as the Extension would cost, because it's a specialist spell with longer duration as a necessary part of its nature.
