PMárk
I'm just curious, so I thought to ask those who know the math: just how many percentages a bonus/penalty dice actually worth?
coolAlias
It depends on the target number, such that the higher your initial chance of success, the greater the effect of a bonus die is, and vice versa, up to a point. You can extrapolate somewhat from this discussion of D&D 5e's similar mechanic: https://statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2014/07/12/dnd-5e-advantage-disadvantage-probability/ In CoC, however, it's further complicated by the fact you're generally not actually rolling d100 dice, but a d00 and a d10, and bonus/penalty dice only apply to the d00. Sorry I can't give you the exact math, but I hope the linked article at least gives you a rough idea of the general probability curve.
