MrHemlocks
I just bought the Classic Fantasy(BRP),Basic Creatures(BRP)& Basic Magic(BRP)books. Now, I am looking for a world setting for my group of players. I came across Lords of Tarsa and read some reviews and was thinking this might work, as a world map/setting, with Classic Fantasy. Anyone here have any experiance, either GM or player, with Lords of Tarsa? Is there a 'better' world map/setting other than Lords of Tarsa that you suggest? Also, is there a map with Lords of Tarsa? I have been running a Call of Cthulhu group for over 5 years now. We use the ARKHAM map as a home base. Having a world map/setting makes or breaks a game. That is why I am looking for one that can used with Classic Fantasy (BRP). http://catalog.chaosium.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=5042 http://catalog.chaosium.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=5162 http://catalog.chaosium.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=3719 http://catalog.chaosium.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=3721
Chaot
Tarsa's great. It's style is very different from Classic Fantasy though and you'll find that you'll have to make some decisions regarding tone. The class system from Classic Fantasy will be an odd fit to Tarsa characters and Tarsa has it's own magic system tailored to the setting. That being said, I see nothing wrong with taking Tarsa and interpreting it through Classic Fantasy. I do things like that all the time. If you want to find a solid fit to Classic Fantasy, I would look to some of the settings developed with AD&D in mind. They have built in assumptions that Classic Fantasy is geared to cater to. Alternatively, when I eventually run Classic Fantasy I'm thinking of tracking down a random setting map and some dungeons and riff around it. Another poster here turned me on to 0one games. Killer stuff in there. Quote 70/

Chaot
It's more orientated to the Professions approach that the big gold book follows, more like CoC than Classic Fantasy. It's still BRP, just a different flavor. Dungeon Crawl Classics looks fun, thanks for pointing it out. Another resource for that sort of thing is the One Page Dungeon competitions. It's free and gives a great baseline to expand from. Quote 70/
