Art Scott Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I'd talked to Steve Perrin (well, we chatted via Usenet) several years ago re: writing a work of fiction (novel/trilogy) based in Glorantha. The reception back then was positive and he asked me to submit a sample chapter (note: I was not asking anyone to publish it for me. I was just seeking permission to use the source material to tell the story. THEN I would seek a publisher). Unfortunately, at the time I'd just been accepted as a pilot to fly for the 160th SOAR and we lost touch. Now that I'm retired, I'd like to pursue that avenue once again. Does anyone know to exactly whom I would need to speak to get said permission? Or to whom I could write? Any leads or information would be greatly appreciated. Quote Art Scott, Ph.D. CW4, USA Retired
rust Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I think you should ask here: Issaries, Inc. Quote "Mind like parachute, function only when open." (Charlie Chan)

Yes, you'll need to talk directly with Greg Stafford at Issaries. Anything Glorantha-related needs to be go through Greg. Quote The Design Mechanism: Publishers of Mythras
BMonroe Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 And as much as I like Steve, please remember that Greg is the sole owner of Glorantha. Steve doesn't have anything to do with it an longer. Quote Please don't contact me with Chaosium questions. I'm no longer associated with the company, and have no idea what the new management is doing.

Right... I'm well aware of that. Steve Perrin WAS still involved when we wrote, or at least that's the impression he gave me. In any case, I'm just looking to see if the same arrangement can be made, and looking for a way to contact the people who would make the decision. I have plenty of confidence in my writing, but as RQ is/was the game which I've played for as long as I can remember... My GOC if you will, I don't want to step on any toes by going and writing a trilogy based in Glorantha, only to find out Greg or Sandy or Steve or their children, or W.O.T.C. (who bought TSR which bought Avalon Hill) won't let it get published due to copyright infringement. I certainly wasn't trying to say Steve is now the be all and end all of RQ publication. I was merely trying to give you an idea of the channels I went through the first time I tried to get permission. Do you have any answers for me? Or did you write that simply to let the world know Steve no longer has the rights? Quote Art Scott, Ph.D. CW4, USA Retired

Does you have a direct email address, skype name, or phone number directly to him? I wasn't bringing up Steve to say he's with whom I'd need to speak now, but rather to illustrate the idea was well received in the past. I hope you understand. Quote Art Scott, Ph.D. CW4, USA Retired

The rights concerning Glorantha are a lot more complicated than they might appear especially if your experience of the world is via RQ. The game system and the world are separate, but related, properties. I'm not going to post Greg's contact details here. Drop me a PM and we can take it from there.
