There will be some small linking bits that don't fit the new version and maybe a few minor hero cults, and some few other details (and a few parts of scenarios) will be rewritten and so the original version won't be in the new series, but nothing major

Only one article has been consciously left out, just cos it was an extra short incidental scenario outline by someone else. Not for quality reasons, it was just not relevant back then but a nice addition. With so much material this time round it won't be included, but other more relevant pieces by the same author are being included :)

The content of Vol. 05 (Land of the Giants) has been ruthlessly trimmed - with anything that can be put forward into the next book, being placed there

But with so much key material having to go into the series book about Prax & the River of Cradles, and a HUGE scenario arc based in Old Pavis and some epic trips out into Prax, there was just too much that had to go in there.

Plus some key supporting material that maybe didn't 'have to' but wasn't many pages and fits better here....

... leading us to 330 pages of content!!! And actually the cheapest PDF on a cost by page basis. What a bargain!!! :)

The Rough Guide to Pavis City is already about 4/5 done because (a) so much of it just directly copies over from the original, and (b) I originally planned to release it as Vol. 01, and so did a lot of work on it a couple of years ago

It will be Vol. 06A, but is being written now as so many background elements of the plan have to be clarified to write it, and this has been useful input into Vol. 05, as it will also be in Vol. 06

This project is a magnum opus and no mistake. I'm really happy with all the volumes produced in that they capture that RQ2 feel with the RQG rules [and a hefty dollop of house rules]. I could see Vasana and Company wondering if membership in Flintnail is right for them 😁

Got the completed final image this morning, edited it up with some filters to fit the house style, and then edited it into the layout.

Couple of hours more tweaking the formatting and error checking and then Vol. 05 went off to Fabian a few hours ago. Tadaaaa!

And then it went off again to him just now when I was scanning it with happy relief and noticed one dumb error that had somehow been missed!! Doh! :)

Anyway, he has acknowledged receipt, but is a very busy fellow so it might still be a few more days before it is up on Drivethru

This one is quite a turning point in the campaign, and the content/story includes (among other things):

- Realising that Garrath Sharpsword is more than he appears and could in fact be an epic hero

- Making the acquaintance of a bona fide different new Hero who will have a massive impact on the Grand Plan later

- A self-contained scenario arc to recover the fabled Masks of the Pavis City council

Several fully details locations: Magicians Hill in the Rubble (the other Twin Hill), Dwarf Knoll in Prax, and Only Safe in the Wastes

The Adventurers are invited to join the prestigious Grey Company

If that wasn't enough, the Lunars announce the Wedding of Pavis to the Red Goddess and - among other things - bully the Flintnail Cult into helping them out with the foundational preparations. (Luckily some of the dwarfs have an idea how to turn the tables, and visit the Grey Company to ask for some very specific help.)

And then just when you though it was all over, there's a trip into the Rockwoods and a return to Pavis via a very unusual mode of river transport that hasn't been since in Prax for 750 years!!!

I did a quick read of the book.

 

I think the powers of Potonis are meant for a RQ3 sorcerer.

In the current edition, the skills of intensity, range, duration and multipsell no longer exist.

I'd replace these skills by a +5 to any spell manipulation done by the sorcerer (not limited by free INT)

You are talking about the powers of the Mask of Potonis, on p.58.

P.180 doesn't list any of those skills.

Every issue so far has gone through at least two updates (3 versions) before PoD, as the sheer volume of work is such that things inevitably get missed, and while I still catch some errors when I do occasional scans (5 minor ones so far in Vol. 05), so do readers of course

We will likely update Vol. 05 for the first time at the end of Nov (maybe even the only time before we go to PoD, but that remains to be decided)

Hi Folks

Have fixed 8 or 9 small errors, and two medium errors (one which was repeated a few times) in Vol. 05 over the last 10 days since it went up, so am starting to consider putting up version 1.1. Won't be immediate, but maybe in a week or 10 days

So if anyone has spotted any mistakes or unclarities in Vol. 05, please feel free to post them in this thread @jean

UPDATE:

Vol. 05 was poised to go to PoD layout when I saw the imminent release of Sun County.

So there will be a delay of a little over a week while I wait for that release. Then I will rewrite the Garhound Contest adaptation notes chapter to match the order and pages of that scenario in Sun County. (The order is different in the HW PDF and I would like to link more closely to the classic official version.)

(I'll leave the page references in for the old HW PDF version, but it is much more suitable to use the original RQ3 version as the framework, now it will be available again shortly.)

Significantly Updated Version - 29 Nov 2024.

(i) A dozen or more minor corrections;

(ii) Some new images from Keith Nellist;

(iii) A handful of small rewrites to polish the text, &

(iv) Major revision of Garhound Contests adaptation notes article - turning them now into an adjunct to the RQ3 version. [Rather than an adjunct to the old Hero Wars version, which was all that was easily available until this coming weekend when Sun County is released again.] :)

Since I'm posting, there were two other changes at the same time:

a) Vol. 02 has now joined Vol. 01 in being locked in stone. The last ever version of the Vol. 02 PDF just went up as well. Just a few final corrections.

Usually takes the incredibly industrious Mr Fabian 1-2 weeks to get an updated PDF up as he has many many other tasks he is doing, but in this case he has pounced upon the task anyway and Vol. 05 is upgraded already, as above! :)

Apologies to the also hard-working Nick for earlier unclarity above (now revised). My estimate for the PDF may have been mistaken for being about the PoD
