skull Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Anyone know, if there is any Call of Cthulhu RPG 6E and 7E monster creation program or software? Even a spreadsheet program that calculates monster stats would be nice. I have tons of monsters i want to make stats for. However doing it the old fashioned way with books it very slow and time consuming. Anyone have any ideas? i made a spreadsheet calc for 7E, but it very basic and don't help much. i am hoping someone has something that can simplify the process. i looked at Byakee program again, but it don't have 7E and its does not do monsters, only npc or player characters. Thanks for reading! Quote
EldorfDragonsbane Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I myself would love to see something like this too. I know back in the late 90's TSR/WOTC put out a Core Rules CD-Rom and a Core Rules CD-Rom 2.0 (the 2.0 version also had an expansion available), that had the core AD&D books on it along with the tools to create your own NPCs, treasure, monsters, and maps, the 2.0 expansion iirc also added additional books such as the Player Option Handbooks and the various class related handbooks such as the Complete Paladins Handbook or the Complete Bards Handbook. Most of the books were available as either HTML or RTF format. I know most this stuff is being done online via Roll 20 and Quest Portal (or in the case of investigator characters Dholes house), though again I would love to see a program similar to the old AD&D Core Rules CD-Rom for creating NPCs, Monsters, Tomes, etc... that is useable offline. Atgxtg Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I did something along those lines for RQ .It is a spreadhseet designed for scaling up animal sizes via the square cube law so you can get different species or similar creatures, but it might be helpful. It does automate things like hit points, damage bonuses and scales up natural weapons and armor based on SIZ. I posted abouti n in a BRP thread. I don't know if it will do what you want. I designed it for BRP, not CoC and it's Mthos beings. IT defniately wasn't made to accommodate for COC 7 (though the latter change wouldn't be all that difficult to add,- I'd jus tput in a selection box and for Coc 7 multiply some values by five) Here is a screenshot of scaling up a Allosaurus. Let me know if it looks useful. 1 Quote Chaos stalks my world, but she's a big girl and can take of herself.
skull Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 Thanks for the responses. I do understand the reason Chaosium has not done it, They have less resources than many game companies. I think if, they made software it would sell. Maybe they could do a Kick Starter to fund it in the future. Actually i would love to see a cthulhu role playing game management system, for managing and creating characters, monsters and other game stuff, random encounters, game world data, mythos data, rules, monster stat pages, non player characters etc. I know i am dreaming, if i was good at programing i would make one. i think i will have to take another look at my open office monster stat calc, reorganize, refine it. skull Posted November 27 Author Posted November 27 My monster gen open office calc program is on hold. I cant get if then statements or V lookup tables to work. i tried converting my Cthuhluu monster generator(coded in basic 256) to java scrip! however the conversion process is not going well. I even had a AI code generator try to convert it and that failed also. unfortunately i am not very good at coding. i only understand a small amount of basic 256, i can manipulate Java script and HTML a little, but don't understand the syntax much. So i am limited on what i can do for those. If i manage to get it working i will post it on here for free. Quote
