g33k Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Working on a character concept for a PC who was raised on the Plateau, went to war (most-likely as a Lancer, but maybe chariot-driver because why the hell not? & I've never played a charioteer nor been at the table with one in-play), who was captured by the anti-Lunar Sables & thence spent some years in Prax. Has anyone created the Hungry Sable family-history tables for character-creation? Here on the forum, or in the JC, or even maybe I missed it somewhere in the canon? TYVM for any pointers or other assistance! Quote C'es ne pas un .sig

Since the Antelope Lancers have generally been used in the same wars as the Tarshites, you could likely use the Tarshite background for the grandparents without too much difficulty. Then as of ~1610, use some blend of Tarshite and Praxian for the parent or PC. 1 Quote Edge of Empire | Nochet: Queen of Cities | Nochet: Adventurer's Guide

I was already planning to take a look at the FamHist tables for Lunar Tarsh, adding a few "semi-Praxian" and/or "Kostaddi" elements... but perhaps less than I had been thinking (in light of how much the Lancers' actions coincided with the Tarshites)...? Still thinking that there should be a bit of extra nod (in the FamHist) to the fundamentally Twin-Star culture of the Hungry Sables, vs. the Orlanthi-with-7M-overlay of Tarsh; but I'm unclear what that might be. === Sables have a bit of a rep for taking the most-advantageous deal, even when it means turning on an ally... is that a boost of pragmatic Earth-rune? Untruthful Illusion-Rune? Or does it not quite rise to the Runic-Affiliation level? +10% Intrigue? Kinda thinkingtyping out loud, here ... Quote C'es ne pas un .sig

The Twin Stars are a presence, but really just a large Spirit Cult/tradition. Basically figure you'll have some worship of Waha and Eiritha, and a lot of worship of the Seven Mothers, and then some shaman-priestesses leading worship of the Twin Stars. Nick Brooke Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Possibly of interest: we portrayed Sitzmag Redmoon as an Antelope Lancer who had “gone native” in Prax for our fifty-player Lunar freeform Life of Moonson. Here’s a quote from his character sheet: Quote It was in Prax that you learned the truth: the Hungry Plateau is but a confining prison compared to the great freedom of the Praxian Wastes. When you first felt the hot breath of the Storm Buck upon your face, and saw the Whirlvishes spinning on the high chaparral, you knew that the life of your people was but a mockery. The Sables should be free to roam Glorantha as they saw fit: not endlessly revolving in one fixed place like the Red Moon, but following their own ever-changing path like your patrons, the Twin Stars. He was set up to potentially clash with his notional Khan, the Sultan of Kostaddi, having gained legitimate personal sovereignty from his association with the Most Reverend Mother of the Sable Tribe at the Paps. (This is, of course, non-canonical, and I commend it to you.) 2 Quote Community Ambassador - Jonstown Compendium, Chaosium, Inc.
