PaulB Posted November 21 Posted November 21 The main Runequest rulebook implies that Old Tarsh characters should be members of a clan, yet i can't find any references to them in the main rulebook or in the new Dragon Pass book. Can anyone point me at a list of clans? or should they be loyal to a city or settlement? Quote

A couple are noted in the new Dragon Pass book. Wintertop p.125: Hendarli clan (they are the ruling clan) Iristhold p.121: Iristos clan ( a noble clan) Quote Edge of Empire | Nochet: Queen of Cities | Nochet: Adventurer's Guide

Unless Jonstown Compendium has a book on the clans of Tarsh, I find it odd that they aren't more thoroughly covered. You'd think Tarsh would have more than 2 clans, no? Quote

There are others in the Lunar Tarsh section too. It's not an extended list for either, but the Dragon Pass book isn't intended for that purpose. As more specific Homeland books (e.g. the planned Sartar book), I expect to see more. Edited November 22 by jajagappa Quote Edge of Empire | Nochet: Queen of Cities | Nochet: Adventurer's Guide
jajagappa Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Btw, there are some further comments on clans of Tarsh in this article by Jeff: Notes on Tarsh In particular, these two points: There are about 145 “villages” in all of Tarsh, about 47 around Furthest. In Sartar we’d associate these with clans and that’s exactly what they are. There are about 100 clans in Sartar – if the clans were the same size, we’d expect about 220 in Tarsh. But the average “village area” in Tarsh is around 2100-2200 people, as opposed to the around 1200 people in Sartar. Note that Tarsh is not divided into tribes. It is not a confederation of tribes like Sartar – it is a kingdom, centered on the Lunar colony city of Furthest, and is divided into districts ruled by appointees of the king. In Dunstop and Bagnot, the powerful Orindori clan have achieved effectively hereditary rule. So for Lunar Tarsh, take the name of the Village and you have the clan name (maybe there's another older name, or a secret name, as well). 1 Quote Edge of Empire | Nochet: Queen of Cities | Nochet: Adventurer's Guide

There are no lists, but If you look at the Old Tarsh map in the new Dragon Pass book, there are a number of settlements. Wintertop Vale Wintertop Fort - Hendarli Clan Village a (likely Wintertop village) Squat Inn Shake Land Shaker Temple (and Geo’s Shaker Inn) Village b Village c Village d West Bush Range Renekot's Hope (village) East Bush Range Iristhold (hill fort) - Iristos Clan Based on this there are (clearly to me), three major clans: Hendarli Clan, Iristos Clan, Shaker Clan, and six smaller ones (all bloated with refugees). for the unnamed ones, make up what you want for your games. Renekot's Hope is detailed in the Pegasus Plateau. Most of the villages will have outlying farms (see cultivated land on the map), bear in mind that large swathes of land are empty due to the Lunars. There's probably a couple of small "Bandit" clans of no fixed abode you could play with too, roaming the empty swathes of the East Bush Range, the north of the West Bush Range and the spinosaurous flats (lets call them the East Bush Range, West Bush Range and Alric's fort bandit clans). 1 Quote ----- Search the Glorantha Resource Site: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com.
