Nozbat Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Skills like Oratory or Debate.. and if you want a specific subject .. maybe just do opposed roles for the specific subject ie quantum mechanics or the  benefits of trade in Novgorod using Science (quantum mechanics) or Commerce respectively Mythras also have social contests (or conflicts if you wish) which have special ‘manoeuvres’  that were extended in the Mythras Companion .. well worth a look. I always get the player to make a speech before they role the dice outlining the key points and award a bonus depending on how good it was .. usually how much it made me laugh to be honest. It means it’s not a completely arbitrary process and that players learn that it’s not always useful, desirable or prudent to pull out your stiletto or katzbalger as a method of conflict resolution There are also ‘softer’ communication skills like persuade or seduce etc and for the passive-aggressive player.. intimidate. My players have taken to intimidation like ducks to water. However they tried to intimidate the Sergeant-of-the Watch. They soon discovered that he was better at intimidating than they were after the opposed role. ‘Grrr’ said the player.. ‘GRRR’ said the sergeant… 1 Quote
