Reintroducing RQ3 Spirits into RQ6

The Bestiary chapter describes various Spirits, and refers to Healing spirits in a sidebar as being Nature Spirits that increase the Healing Rate. I recall previous RQ editions where there was a whole gamut of spirits and was wondering how to do them. Here, therefore are my ideas for different types of Spirits not listed in RQ6. I would like to know what people think.

Healing Spirits - These are Shards of the Life Rune and are just as focussed as Death Spirits. Much like Death Spirits they rely on discorporating their targets to engage them in Spirit Combat, but will usually only ever target Possessing Spirits such as Sickness Spirits or Curse Spirits in an effort to restore equilibrium to that person.

healing Spirits have the same Stats as Death Spirits.

Healing Spirits also have one of the following abilities: Cure Malady, Cure Sense, Heal Mind. To use the ability the Healing Spirit must defeat the sufferer in Spirit Combat and possess him/her for a period of time before departing, having healed the problem. (Not sure about this one, suggestions please). Bound Healing Spirits can also be used to iincrease the healing rate similarly to Nature Spirits butr are more effective - resulting in the Intensity of the Spirit affecting the Healing Rate in the way Mysticism does. Needless to say Healing Spirits are difficult to find and areas where they dwell are well-defended.

Spirits of Law

These are the opposite of Bane Spirits, and are fragments of the Law Rune. They only exist to combat and destroy chaotic spirits such as Bane Spirits and other Spirits tied to the chaos powers, depending on the setting of the game. When such a spirit is defeated by a Spirit of Law it is irrevocably destroyed. These are rare and highly valued tools in the struggle between the Law Rune and the Chaos Rune.

Use the Stats and rules of use for Bane Spirits.

Passion Spirits

A variant of the sickness spirit, these introduce an emotional state when they successfully defeat someone and covertly possess them. A. few examples

Fear Spirits - a victim of these are permanently Demoralized (as per the Folk Magic Spell) vs one "subject" per Intensity of the Spirit, until the spirit is exorcised

Madness Spirit - While possessed, when a victim has a stressful event, and at least once a day in any case, the spirit will make a fresh Spectral Combat opposed test vs Willpower. If successful it will incapacitate the host for for a period (yet to be fully determined) of time related to its Intensity through behaviour such as screaming, giggling comatose state before retreating back to its covert possessing state.

Pain Spirit - While covertly possessing its target the pain spirit causes the target to feel a constant dull ache, making everything they do more difficult. Increase the Difficulty Grade for all skills by the (Intensity-1) of the Spirit. Intensity 1 Pain Spirits cause 1 level of fatigue on the victim until exorcised, much like the Tire Folk Magic.

Thoughts, comments? Add more spirit ideas here also.

Clearly, "what I like" is awesome, and a well-considered, educated opinion. While "what other people like" is stupid, and just a bunch of made up gobbledygoook. - zomben
