Noita
So we all know what basically goes on in sacred time. What happens when you can't make it home? You know you're off adventuring somewhere, get stuck and then it's that time of year again. Can you go join some other folks' shindig? If you are totally isolated does the next year go pear shaped? You know you're off adventuring somewhere, get stuck and then it's that time of year again. Can you go join some other folks' shindig? If you are totally isolated does the next year go pear shaped? A few different scenarios here: 1) You really are isolated. You're trapped in your stead by a late snow. You were out hunting and unfortunate circumstances kept you from home. Etc. I think you do the best you can to emulate the approach of your community in the microcosm of your home or camp. You pray, you go through the rituals as best you can, but it's dangerous. Mythic events are happening and you are in the Great Darkness, alone. It might be like Night of the Living Dead. You just hope you live to see the Sun rise again. Or if you are alone, you might set off on the trek to return home, knowing that it will be like the Lightbringer's Quest and fraught with the gravest perils: beasts from the Nightwood, demons, etc. Your only hope may be to save a Trickster, who in turn may accidentally free you. 2) You're an outsider in a 'foreign' location, or perhaps a prisoner in a Lunar jail. Not a good thing, as you may well be placed in the position of being the 'foe' in their rituals. Your only hope may be to turn their rituals to your advantage by invoking your own within them. 3) You're in a somewhat neutral place like a city (e.g. Jonstown, Nochet). Likely there's a temple around that you may join as a friendly lay participant. Always more roles needed in the rituals, always more offerings needed to help the temple survive. Effectively you contribute to someone else' success in the New Year rituals. May be that is beneficial for your own community in the year to come, or may be not.
