I always wondered whether that "bronze" was a similar thing to the way that Homer called the blue sky "bronze". Though Homer does also refer to other things as "bronze", even when applying a colour doesn't make sense (unless Homer had synesthesia?).

As we like to say around our house when the Homeric palette comes up, the poet is also generally depicted as blind so "his" color choices may be on the expressionistic side of the rainbow. Where Belintar is concerned he may have started out as "sky" bronze or patina from his time in the water and then burnished up bright once dried and cleaned up.

The thing is when Belintar is mortally wounded (as per the Prince of Sartar webzine), he reverts to his blue colour rather than a bronze one.

So we think.  Personally, I think the Hero Wars will prove otherwise; and the libraries will either start to take sides and reveal hidden knowledge, or others will ransack some of the temples to gain such lore.
