Just to be clear, you are referring to the Codex Ivesti p194-197?

No, the entire document is less legible than it should be. Every page has ink interfering with the ability to read the words. (The pages you call out are exceptionally bad because they have symbols under words. But the entire document should have a pure white background.)

how did that second quote get there?

Page reference below refer to page numbers within the pdf, not the number on the pages.

Page 6: wthin – should be – within

Page 6 – gazeteer – should be – gazetteer

Page 6 - lands are defined by their goddess – might be - lands are defined by their goddesses

Page 6 – about what is magic – suggest – about what magic is

Pages 6-7 – unfortunate that the map cropping cuts short Vulture Country on the right and the Forest (of) Wondrous Beasts on the left. If possible, might the map be edited to shift the text? Also suggest removing NTAINS in the upper left. The version in the rulebook isn’t cropped. Perhaps use that version in both books?

Page 8 -  the Earth King that once ruled the land – suggest -  the Earth King who once ruled the land

Page 11 -  dot the Janube – suggest -  dot the Janube valley

Page 11 -  Pendarli – should be – Pendali

Page 11 – refered – should be – referred

Page 11 – betweem – should be – between

Page 11 – stuggle – should be – struggle

Page 12 - mythico-magical – suggest - mythic-magical

Page 12 – goddesss – should be – goddess

Page 12 – reincrnating – should be – reincarnating

Page 12 -  Suam Chong – should be – Suam Chow

Page 12 - The center of civilization is around the Suam Chong, a shallow sea atop Kralora. The great Dragon Island called Hum Chang is to her east, and is the home the splendid Dragon Empire that rules all the lands around the Suam Chow – duplication ‘around’. Suggest - The center of the splendid Dragon Empire is around the Suam Chow, a shallow sea atop Kralora. The great Dragon Island called Hum Chang is to her east.

Page 12 -  Pamalt, the Earth King that still rules – might be -  Pamalt, the Earth King who still rules

Page 15 -  Brown Elves covered much of what was later the Bush Range, Grazelands, and Beast Valley – suggest -  Brown Elves covered much of what was later the Bush Range, Grazelands, and Beast Valley with forest

Page 16 -  because of the threated – should be -  because of the threat

Page 18 - There is another tale of Hiia Swordman – should this paragraph and the next be in italics? Perhaps the ‘poem’ should only be one paragraph?

Page 20 -  Calf-wool Stand – should be  - Calfwool Stands (see GtG)

Page 23 – red line of offspring of Sartar and Eneera Tor should descend from their blue marriage line?

Page 24 -  vendref – should be in italics?

Page 25 -  Green Dragon – looks blue?

Page 25 - The Puppeteer Troupe is among Glorantha’s foremost cult of Illusion – might be - The Puppeteer Troupe is among Glorantha’s foremost cults of Illusion

Page 50 - Oralont Dragonfriend – should be - Orlaront Dragonfriend

Page 71 - the various land goddess – should be - the various land goddesses

Page 121 - eternal contrast – might be – eternal conflict

Pages 158, 166, 170, 173, 176, 180, 186, 190 – map keys and many place names may be in too small a font to be read when printed. Suspect nothing can be done about the place names, but the key needs to be readable.

Page 181 -   A defeated Horse Queen and storm barbarians – should be -   A defeated Horse Queen and storm barbarian

Page 207 - This piece depicts a group of holy people that have been garbed – should be - This piece depicts a group of holy people who have been garbed

Page 218 -kolati and umbroli should be in italics? [General comment]

Page 218 – meaning of umbroli never given in text

Page 221 - Kolati  75, 109 – also pages 108, 113, 213. Indexing not complete? [Search through to find definition, and found more instances than given in the index]

Resume at page 26

Gaaah.

This moves GS from a "must get" item to a "must wait and see" for me...  :(

A few more I've spotted:

Page 22: "For the next two years there appeared phantasmal dragonewts ... "Five-year dream".  See Page 53 below

Page 49: "The Race known as the Aldryami consists of elves, dryads, pixies and runners".  Followed by a list with entries for elves, dryads and runners, but not pixies.

Page 53: "In 1539 the Dragonewts Dream began, and ended two years later... And after five years they disappeared again".   Seems to be confusion over 2 or 5 years here?  P22 has a 5-year dream with 2 years of phantasmal appearances, P53 a 2-year dream with 5 years of phantasms.

Page 60: "Wherever she won a great magic against the mutating forces of Chaos", should be victory, not magic?

Page 61: "Their departure revealed a thinly populated revealed a region thinly populated by indigenous tribes previously enslaved by the nomads"

Hope those help...

I think you'll find out, one way or another, that this is still a "must get" item.

However, if they toned down the background even more than its current faint level I would not be upset.

I am uncertain  about this phrase on P6 (Frona)

Quote

her forested north is home to many primitive barbarians, such as the Rathori Bearwalkers or Reindeer People

> such as the Rathori Bearwalkers or the Reindeer People ?

or

> such as the Rathori Bearwalkers and Reindeer People

or

> such as the Rahthori Bearwalkers or Uncoling Reindeer People

or

> such as the  Rathori Bearwalkers and Reindeer People

As it stands I think it invites misinterpretation that the either the Reindeer people is another name for Rathori Bearwalkers, or that the Rathori can be Bearwalkers or Reindeer people...

If it doesn’t, it’s unclear why you have a map at all.

You can have a map that applies to a particular situation, but which doesn't prevent a different map from also being "correct". A bit like how several different versions of the same myth can all be correct. The map in S:KoH refers to a specific scenario and heroquest, which doesn't mean that a different heroquest couldn't have a completely different map of the underworld and also be correct.

Edit - replied before I saw @Charles's reply.

Page reference below refer to page numbers within the pdf, not the number on the pages.

Page 26 - Tarsh to Sartar rule – might be - Tarsh to Sartarite rule

Page 26: now purged of Lunars – possibly a relic of earlier documents where Hon-eel appeared at the Shaker Temple. I believe more recent documents have identified the Earth temple on Kordros Island.

Page 27 -  five-year dream – might be -  two-year dream [as per earlier on the same page]

Page 29 - On retrospect – should be - In retrospect

Page 29 - Long Axe – should be – Longaxe

Page 31 -  burned Dunstop until the Red Emperor paid his price – reads oddly, perhaps -  sacked Dunstop until the Red Emperor paid his price

Page 31 -  Beast Men – elsewhere – Beastmen

Page 32 - from the Sartar’s Palace – might be - from Sartar’s Palace

Page 34 - his 8year old son – should be - his 8 year old son – or - his eight year old son

Page 34 - priests and demigods killed – might be - priests and demigods were killed

[Not much opportunity to read through the document today. For several of us, this isn't the first pass through:

This time, personally, I'm trying to concentrate on typos, assuming any 'factual' comments not implemented are intentional in-world 'errors'.]

Some text has gone missing between pages 149 & 150, possibly because of the "Becoming Illuminated" box at top left on p.150. The body text currently reads (page break shown as //):

Quote

In the Third Age, Illumination is most prevalent within
the Lunar Empire, where the philosophy is widespread
among worshipers of the Red Goddess and the Seven //
come to the fore, promoted by Argrath’s Sartar Magical
Union. Illumination is known elsewhere, most notably
in Kralorela, East Isles, Ralios, Jrustela, and Vralos. The
Near Ones or Friends of Pamalt are also thought to be
Illuminates by some.

Cheers, Nick

Let's keep this thread firmly focused on errors & typos in the book, and take further disquisitions on the typography of hell to a new thread, thanks MOB (wearing moderator hat)
