  1. I would call it fun in the tradtional RPG sense the 13th Age Glorantha write up gives a much better look into playing a DX. You are here to suffer. It doesn't matter if two superiors give contradicting orders you follow them and take your punishment. Going with the interpretation that DX is being a stand in for Orlanth an taking on the unforgiveable sin of robbing the universe of Yelms light all the punishment of yours. It well never be enough and it will only end for YOU when you die.
  2. I never got the comparison between DX and Orlanth. Orlanth willingly went on the lightbringers quest, Danfive was captured by Yanafal to take part of the ritual. Orlanth willingly endures the horrors hell to reconcile with Yelm.
  3. Considering there’s no named way for leaving the cult in game with out meriting a punishment from the cult. If I get the chance or time to run a lunar game I’ll homebrew up way DX leave a free of sin. Maybe doing some great deed for empire. If they live there missing parts are restored and if they wish scars fully healed. If they die they’re post humorously freed. Both involve the DX chains (if they can be recovered) being broken by a priestess of the red goddess. Also Aside from Beat Pot whose thought to be Danfives reincarnation do we have any named members? I
  4. Is the guy with his bowl of beef stew or anyone who lives a normal to comfortable life putting on the bear skin anytime soon? Sedenya sez: “Life is suffering, but suffering is not life.” I never heard the Mara prison tradition being espoused by anyone in the lunar empire. Only the illusion of “I AM” And not a lot of lunars are looking to willingly follow Danfive.
  5. So would that involve Orlanth sharing the middle air with Sedenya? Or something else entirely like a rebirth into a different god? A big thing in his nature is that he will always oppose chaos
  6. I’ve been thinking about the nature of the Danfive cult and its place in lunar society. It’s supposed to be a place for the worst criminals in lunar society to turn to in order to avoid punishments for heinous crimes. The hierarchy is probably more strict than typical DH culture. The punishments for breaking the rules range from torture to neutering and exile. But I’ve found the writing on it in The Lunar Way to be scant and odd. This is a penal cult that focuses on redemption through pain. But it also talks about rehabilitation and re integration into the community of gods and men. But when does the penance end? At what point does the pain you inflict on yourself undo the harm you’ve done? Shouldn’t the cult focus more on putting people to work to repay their debts to society than shows of remorse through pain? What are people learning by scaring and ripping their flesh? This seems to be a pretty big deal in the empire and I’m suprised there wasn’t more written. Edit- If anyone knows any supplemental material on Danfive please let me know.
