Secrets of Dorastor is basically a writeup of my Dorastor Campaign, on steroids with a hefty dash of acid.

Half of it was written before Dorastor Land of Doom came out, so differs from that quite a bit.

I used very little from Dorastor Land of Doom, except when describing a very select group of Places.

It is on 500 sales at the moment, so 1 more sale makes it a Gold Seller.

If you liked Dorastor Land of Doom, you'll probably like Secrets of Dorastor.

If you like gonzo, over the top Glorantha, you'll probably like Secrets of Dorastor.

I cover them unofficially in the excellent, and very nearly Gold Selling, Secrets of Dorastor.

Chaosium's take on them is likely to be different but fairly similar.

Personally, I think the Illumination Abilities from Cults of Terror are OK, but don't lend themselves to different Schools of Illumination teaching different things.

In Secrets of Dorastor, I have the following Illumination Abilities.

    Common Abilities:

    • Ability to Learn Nysaloran Riddles
    • Ability to Sense Illumination
    • Immune to Cult Spirits of Reprisal
    • Immune to Sense/Detect Chaos/Law
    • Secret Knowledge

    Special Abilities:

    • Combine Runes
    • Conquer Nature
    • Escape HeroQuest Consequence
    • Hide Passion
    • Hide Rune
    • Ignore Cult Restriction
    • Immune to Sense/Detect
    • Learn Special Magic
    • Mystical Defense

Secrets of Dorastor is one of the best books that have bought. Dorastor is the place for action but there are also many hooks you can use for a long campaign.

There are opportunities for orlanthi, members of the lunar caravan, lots of playtime for uroxi and the possible remnants of Nysalorian and Arkati secrets.

All in all a great place for the holidays. 😈

But that's more worldwide, and you also have to include the Mostali and the merfolk and the Brithini at that level.

From the Dragon Pass view, though, those are less significant through much of the Hero Wars whereas the Castle of Lead, Cragspider, and the Mistress of the Trolls are right there.

Speaking of Cragspider she is destined to have a major role since she is a demigoddess and high priestess of Arachne Solara. Much of what we know comes from her mountain pictographs however in the GoG it states that she was expelled by Unstanos son of Inkarne near the end of the Hero Wars. Or killed by him mentioned in King of Sartar. Any details on this event or Unstanos?

Yeah, this sounds like it (GtG, p94, 183, and 385). Is that what you're talking about @Franky Umathsson ?

I am not sure what the trolls are up to, though...

Where can we find more on this?

    Hi,

Yes this is about the migration of 1623. We do have some information in the Black dragon mountain Pictographs but nothing specific. I wondered in the past why there was not any Hero Wars prophesy about breaking the trollkin curse. And if it is broken then Team Kyger Litor is gonna run wild over Dragon Pass!

  4. One of the prophesies of the hero wars is that a great Uz caravan will travel between Halikiv and Guhan in Ralios all the to way to Dagori Inkarth in Dragon Pass. It looks like a big deal but the goal of the expedition seems vague. What will be the implication of this Uz reunion in the Dragon Pass region in the hero wars? Is it known if they are successful?

It provides great opportunities in a campaign if the players plan Uz or humans as part of the Argan Argar Chain.

Now that’s an interresting scenario. Could influence the Sartar rebellion and the war in Dragon Pass in a big way. Kallyr could perhaps light the flame of Sartar...

Speaking about this part of the post quoted: Kallyr's Lightbringer quest on the livestream and it being a major part of the upcoming campaign book the PC's can be a part of by helping...or trying to stop.

Yelm isn't so much opposed to Chaos (not even really a concept in Yelmic cosmology) as he is opposed to insurrection and rebelliousness.

It appears that once the Red Goddess defeated the Dara Happan Revolts, and Moonson became the Dara Happan Emperor, this satisfied the hierarchical demands of Yelm, and all was well - at least technically (which is enough, so far). The Red Goddess was no longer a rebel.

Now, that's Dara Happa, of course. But Yelm-analogues are worshipped in other areas. Yu-Kargzant is the Pentan analogue of Yelm, and they are, uh, pissed at the Red Moon (though mostly they just want their fertile Pelorian pastures back).

I believe Yelm is mentionned sometimes as the source of illumination. It could explain the sunstop and the Nysalor/Gbaji project sponsored in part by Dara Happa.

  8. What is the opinion of solar worshippers concerning Lunar way and its use of chaos?. Both cultures consist of the lunar heartland and acknowledge the rule of the Red Emperor as Moonson and successor to the ancient Solar Empire. Worshipping Yelm must be quite challenging as he expects absolute obedience to HIS laws and Darra Happan traditions. However if you live by those rules he generally seems like a benevolent and just ruler. He took part of the Great Compromise and supports stability and order.

Then came along the Red Goddess and her values of change, inclusiveness and use of chaos. I'm sure any solar cultures (Darra Happan, lodrili and even horse nomads) would revel at the idea of ruling the world as they did in the past but their convictions go against a lot of Lunar ways. How do Darra happan nobility or other pelorians could accept lunar use of chaos especially as it degenerates into the Monster Empire. I just can't get my head around Yelm supporting anyone related to chaos.

Any thoughts about this seemingly contradictory alliance of Sun and Red Moon?

Let us not forget that of those that return (GtG 385):

Troll Arkat would likely be appear at Zorakarkat, Kimiv's alliance with Halikiv (secretly supported by the matriarchs of Urz Kalamok) and his membership of Argan Argar Chain would seem to cement that. Kimiv looks like a troll puppet.

Arkat the Deceiver is a good candidate for Chaos Arkat, one of the sects that claim to have mastered chaos (GtG 376). This is clearly Argin Terror's work.

I would hope that one of them appears in support of Alangellia. As such Daran would make an obvious power centre for this Arkat. She would obviously marry Arkat.

It would also be cool to have an Arkat to appear as the head of the Chariot of Lighting sect.

I'd also have Foyalfine surprised at Arkat stepping from the Eye of Worlds.

I love the idea of an Arkat leading the Chariot of Lighting sect. It being a Malkioni henotheism sect that worships Orlanthi gods would appeal to versions of Arkat as a Hrestoli knight and Humakti. Perhaps having God Cleaver the Unbreakable Sword.

Similar to Arkat laying waste to Dorastor and the surrounding lands and then retiring to a peaceful life afterwards.

  11. I would like to get some additionnal info or opinions on Arkat’s role in the Hero Wars. There is limited material on the subject exept that 5 Arkats return and seem to have problems working together.

    Any toughts would be appreciated.
