I dug out my old 5.5 Edition of CoC and looked up Edge of Darkness. Sure enough, the scenario in that edition takes place in 1928.

Grabbed a PDF today. It looks like a great addition to the Call of Cthulhu arsenal.

I am looking at running Edge of Darkness for my next scenario, but in preparing for this, I came across something that did not quite fit. All references regard the Starter Set released as part of the Anniversary Edition.
On page 19, it is stated that the scenario takes place in Arkham in 1923. Later, on page 31, it says that the Restricted Collection has already been established at the Orne Library. The Keeper Note even states that Dr. Armitage created the Restricted Collection in reaction to the events of The Dunwich Horror, something that does not happen until 1928.
Am I just reading this wrong, or was there an error in the writing of this scenario?

Oh yeah you were manually slicing them. My point was that they exist in the pdf of the actual book with the alpha channel background just as a lower resolution, clearly the assets exist and the NPC PDF should be updated to make that available at decent quality.
Yes, I agree with you.
That is why I was converting the ones I needed.

I copied and pasted the individual images from the NPC PDF into GIMP. I then added the alpha channel for transparency to the background.
I did have to fill in a few small portions of the bluish outer frame so that the tranparency would not overlap some of the lighter portions of the NPC.
Saved them as a PNG at their native 200dpi resolution.
I hope that helps.

As mentioned above, The Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia by Daniel Harms is what you seek. Anyone writing something about the Mythos should own this book.
I also found this helpful: https://cthulhureborn.wordpress.com/2019/06/29/the-safewords-of-cthulhu/

I am in the process of writing some introductory scenarios, and I wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on what the top 5-10 Investigator occupations are. I am asking this based on the standard 1920s era.
My initial thought was to include the first eight listed in the Quick Start or the Starter Set: Antiquarian, Author, Dilettante, Doctor of Medicine, Journalist, Police Detective, Private Investigator, and Professor.
What do you think? What occupations should be added to that list? Should some on the list be replaced due to lack of popularity?

I would even be happy with a set of flat plastic miniatures like from Arcknight games or even cardboard pawns like paizo produce.
Check out these offerings on DTRPG. You have to print and cut them, but they have some Lovecraft-inspired minis.

The Arkham Horror ones from FFG are about as close as there is right now. Quite expensive on Ebay.

Was there an update on this being relased somewhere? I missed it on 23 OCT and would love to see it.

Thank you for this!

I am creating a scenario using a Crawling One, but I see that the Crawling One's skills are different between the two sources. Does one source override the other?

This is a great scenario!
When my group played, we also used the map pack from Lovemaps:

Agreed that a pistol is what you use if you can't use a longarm of some sort. I do wonder if the CoC damages accurately reflect real-world effects, As a Keeper I'd probably take a page from Trail of Cthulhu and divide pistols into small, medium and large without trying to model each individual caliber.
Most RPGs have a difficult time reflecting real-world damage effects from firearms. There are so many variables at play it is almost impossible to quantify projectile damage on paper. But that does not stop us from trying!
Also, there are so many tiny differences in handgun rounds that a S/M/L/XL(maybe) would probably be a better way to catagorize them.
Lastly, a handgun is what you use to get you to your rifle/shotgun/tactical nuke...😁

I recently ran The Lightless Beacon over Roll20 using maps from Lovemaps. The scenario incorporated some background music and sound effects, along with some custom tokens and handouts.

Huh.
91% & 88% (respectively) on Rotten Tomatoes does give the edge to 30C... but only a slight edge, & LC also appears to have a lot of popularity (anything above 75% is considered quite good).I felt LC was preaching to me (or at me)...constantly. While 30C was pure fun entertainment created by a true CoC fan.

So my group played The Lightless Beacon this past weekend and a question was brought up about about making skill rolls.
Early on, a call is made to make a successful Mechanical or Electical Repair roll. Normally, would each investigator make both rolls, or would they choose to roll whichever skill has the higher score for them? This is not in reference to a combined skill roll.

30 Coins is a great series! Lovecraft Country...not so much.
