does anyone have a review they would like to share besides the cultural ignorance of the book? Curious about content and print quality of the book. I ordered Classic Fantasy and the tables are pretty much unreadable and some of the bestiary has tables layered over others.
  2. thanks. ill prob stick to using combat styles for the rest of the current campaign and then make some changes to combat styles after going through the BRP book and some other BRP rulesets. we are using a totally different ruleset (Mongoose Conan d20!) for the next campaign so i have plenty of time to do some reading. i think the part of the appeal of Mythras combat styles to more BRP experienced GMs is the simplicity coming from other rulesets and i (and thankfully my group) want the opposite there. i definitely want to keep the tactical combat aspects of Mythras in place no matter what i end up changing. works great with grid combat.
  3. got some good advice and then the BRP universal and i think im all set on my question above. anyone have custom shield or rules that do away with combat styles they'd like to share? im thinking about weapon skills by weapon type and a small amt of weapon Base %. i might not need to adjust the chargen rules too much to accommodate for the weapon Base % as PCs will need to spend more XP rolls on 2 or 3 combat skills vs a single combat style skill. might use a pyramid style point assignment ala mythras companion with lower numbers and a cap on weapon and shield skill point spends. im also thinking of giving the shields a big Base % for parry only and a block missile shield option giving the attacker a negative modifier to its ranged skill based on shield size.
  4. hello, ive played and own Mythras and just got a hold of Magic World and the new BRP pdf. my other rpg experience is all d20. after skimming through BRP i now have the itch to put together a custom BRP ruleset and would like to see which version of RuneQuest you would recommend to compliment the 3 books i have listed above. im not interested in bestiaries at this time (although if you know of a good one for MW besides the big damn book of monsters, please let me know) as running a campaign with any rules i come up with is not in the near future (if ever) so ill get those books later. ive read that RQ3 has separate melee and parry stats that sound interesting. would you recommend i start with that or another version of RQ? do the new Glorantha rules add any new mechanics the older versions or RQ, Mythras and BRP universal do not? whats considered the "crunchiest" version? Thanks! -z
  5. i owe you a beer. my short Mythras negatives list (combat styles and shield parry) fixed by MW rules! each class of weapon gets its own skill and ill up the shield Base % for parry only. base chance of a 2 handed hammer is 25? that seems a bit backwards compared to the lighter weapons...
  6. thanks! i love the tactical decision making in Mythras and wasnt sure exactly how similar the rules were to other BRP rules. i just ordered MW and will probably pick up the new BRP book and see what i can put together. cheers! -Z
  7. Mythras is the only d100 game i am familiar with. id like to look into BRP games and i was wondering if Mythras special effects were easy to add to BRP rulesets or if it would require more work than its worth. thanks!
  8. Hello, Im thinking about picking up MW PoD and pdf and was curious if incorporating some of Mythras special effects into the MW ruleset would be a heavy lift. obviously specials like choose location would have to be excluded. also besides the big damn book of monsters are there any other sources for monster stats? Thanks! -Z
