I come to Glorantha by way of King of Dragon Pass and as many of that clan I am stunned to see that a stranger has taken the place of Elmal god of my ancestors. Woe Woe! The pantheon disturbed the kingdom usurped.

Also by Orlanths spiky celtic(ish) hair whats with all the greeks and hoplites all over the place?

  1. 1. Im sure it's more effective with registers and rule of law. But in absence of that it still seems a convenient enough theft prevention method. Albeit one with countermeasures (I mean the Eurumali would mess with them just for the thrill). The Orlanthi are already adept at recognising clan/cult marks. And the clans do launch legal challanges against each other so there is some sort of recognised common law even in abscence of a high-king or other central authority. So you could probably get your cows back if you found them being sold at the nearby market town? 2. Good point I'd respect an Impala rider driving his herd of captured Bison downrange.
  2. What with Cattle raiding being the national sport of Dragon Pass. Do the Oralthi (Sartarites) mark their cattle to show ownership as many earth cultures do? Do they Brand their cattle cowboy style? (Hard to remove). Do they tatoo them? Is there a canon answer? Additional cattle query: Do the Praxians steal & trade each others iconic herd beasts? How mixed do their herds become? If i'm a bison tribesman herding a flock of Impalas, herd-men and Ostriches will the other Tribsmen look down on me?
  3. A lot of good answers here. This post was very helpful in connecting the mechanics to the lore, thanks! I think I was having a problem identifying the "Role" (Both societal and gameplay wise) of the Seven Mothers Initiate in comparison to worshippers of the other gods but I can sort of concive a upwardly moblie fledgling philosopher. Like a mix of a yuppie and a hippe. "If you don't accept that the self is an Illusion and that we-are-all-us this land is gonna stay stuck in the dawn times old man" (No wonder they annoy good godfearing people) So it's more like a cult of the state / a liberating philosophical movement? While other Gloranthan cults tend to have a more nieche role. (I think thats what throws me off.) Are the Lunars Brain-draining (POW drain?) their subject populations? Now i'm imagining things getting heated down at the cantina (I assume lunars don't drink at mead-halls) and the whole place suddenly being full of reflected mindblasts bouncing around. (And I though Orlanthi bar brawls were bad).
  4. So i've been to the Well of Daliath were I learned that the Cult of the Seven Mothers is the largest in the lunar hearthland with 850k worshippers. But I'm having a hard time understanding the utility of the Seven Mothers cult for the average lunar citizen. With most of the Orlanthi/Praxian cults you seem to get magic practical for everyday life. Your bless crops, control weather, butcher animals etc etc. Even war magic seems more useful to your average barbarian Orlanthi than a citizen in a resonably stable empire. But what am I regular Antipu antipus (Joe Schmoe) going to do with mindblast, madness, reflect and regrow limb. Is this a case of double worship where I go to the temple and try to achive Illumination every week (yeah right) to fit in and maintain status. And then I go home and learn useful spells for my actual job from Lash-Wash the god of street sweepers? Is this just a case of the game focusing on cool battle powers rather than the more mundanely useful stuff? Is there some tangible benefit to being 0,001% Illuminated? -Antipu Antipus. confused citizen
