An obvious but overlooked setting would be Renaissance Italy. The political and papal intrigue. The lntercity-state wars. The arts and learning. I think it's highly underused setting.
-
I would go with first five, then three.

How about something in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during the height or twilight of the golden age? Political Intrigue in the Sejm/parliament, numerous wars and freebooting in Zaporizhia. Mind you, I was working on this myself for a while, but got sidetracked plus I found enough military history but very little social history i.e. what daily like was like in the Commonwealth.

Happy to help
Now I'm intrigued as to what you're going to be running with it...
Something British between the Glorious Revolution and Seven Years War based mainly in London. Though I will most likely wait until "Mean Streets" is released and run that. In the meantime I collecting useful ideas and material for the period.

Yes, that certainly helps. I guess I failed my perception roll for finding that description.
Thanks again.

Hello,
Stupid question, the bayonet is listed on the close combat weapons chart on page 89/90 in the Deluxe addition, but it isn't listed in the description section. So would its use fall under the Close Combat skill or Close Combat (Polearms) skill?
Thanks!

Thanks, I'll look into those books. I'm waiting to finish each book before I watch the movie based on it. I've watched 1612 though.

I have started to read Sienkiewicz's trilogy and would like to, maybe, run a campaign in Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth using the Renaissance system. So, I was wondering if there was any rpg resources or books for the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in English?

IIRC there are some notes somewhere by Marcus Rowland on converting Space 1889 to Cthulhu By Gaslight... Last time I ran a game in the setting I used BRP, I'd do the same again in a heart beat.
Nick
There's Cthulhu 1889 chapters in Volume One and Four of the Transaction of the Royal Martian Geographical Society.

Here's more free modern floor plans, but not BRP ones:

Plus I do take requests.
Dohwar: Telepathic capitalistic space penguins.
Though they're most likely under copyright.

You would need to make them more likely to malfunction with "flash in the pan" type misfires then more modern guns. Maybe skill level could tie into ratio of fire in someway.

Cultural differences. Most Americans wont be offended by the phases like "sod off" or "bugger". Mostly because they don't know what they mean. If they were given a definition, they would probably be outraged.
A few years back I posted a message here as to how I had to act as interpreter for a friend and explain what the characters in a British TV show meant where they were using the word "shag". My friend was curious as to why the characters started talking about the rug, since in the US, "shag" is almost exclusively used to refer to a thick carpet that was popular in the 1970s.
Only if they're complete tossers.

If your looking for colonial usage you could see if your local library had "Colonial American English, a glossary : words and phrases found in colonial writing, now archaic, obscure, obsolete, or whose meanings have changed" by Richard M. Lederer, Jr.

The stats in the BRP book for musket rifle are are the same as the stats used for the .58 Springfield rifle musket in CoC book. The CoC book Fatal Experiments gives the stats of the Brown Bess as damage 1d8+4 and range of 40.

Excellent. :thumb:

I'll second Rust on the request.
I'm interested in porting the 18th-century setting to England for a Beggar's Opera/Moll Flanders/Tom Jones-style setting.
-
I would second the old ad&d 2e Viking source book for another reason as well. It's the only book that I've seen so far that builds a rune magic system based on their use in the sagas and not grafting runes onto a standard magic system.
-
Page 267 in the BRP book has a table of modern explosives.

"There should have been only one!"
--Vampire the Masquerade, First Edition, referring to Highlander in the "Sources and Inspiration" section. .
Truer words were never put into print. Plus soooo much of Vampire was based on Highlander.
As someone who only played a little of Vampire the Masquerade. What is the difference between the Masquerade and the Requiem? I only ask because the blurb for "Rome for Requiem" looks interesting and I want to know if it is worth getting and how easy it would be to convert it to BRP or if it's a waste of time.
-
I, also, have played and liked Ghostbusters International and would like to see this conversion. The only problem I had was that the system was too “cartoony”. I think it would work better if it was run semi-straight, which converting to BRP would allow it to be played.

Hello,
Edition Zero has stats flintlock musket and wheellock/flintlock
pistol. I was wondering if anyone had stats for other black powder
weapons (musketoon, blunderbuss, matchlock musket etc.) or had any
suggestions/ ideas for stats.
Seth
If you could choose a setting for a Flintlock & Steel adventure...?

I've found Norman Davies' "God's Playground, A History of Poland; Volume 1: The Origins to 1975" to be useful. I just don't have the time currently to work on it.
