  1. Except of course that you wouldn't coz that would be illegal and the Jokeshop do like their litigation. Regardless of the fact that its not possible to but the articles or magazines in a way which provides any money to the authors or IP holders scanning in is illegal in its own right ('No part of this publication may be copied or reporduced........ without the prior permission of the publisher') and owning digital copies of something to which you do not own the original DTF more so (since if you own the DTF you might get away with the defence that you bought and own it anyway and the electronic version is not commercially available)

You might of course think that thought very hard but I'm sure that you would not post the advice in a public forum and put yourself at risk.

Of course selling said magazines on eBay is technically illegal anyway ('shall not, by way of trade or otherwise, be lent, re-sold, hired out ...etc etc')

    Al

    Oooooh I'm so scared!

  2. I sold a load of gaming mags last year including over 50 White Dwarf's. If I were you I would sell the pre issue 100 seperately and any issues after that in bundles of 3. The binders should definately be sold seperately and should sell easily. You may not make a lot of money for your effort but it's better than nothing and it does free up space for more books :) The mags will go but you may have to relist some a couple of times to get rid of them all. If you have a scanner I would recomend scanning in any articles you like before you say goodbye to them forever!

  3. Sounds very cool, I was heavily into Deadlands when it first came out but I don't think those rules meshed with the setting at all. Also the setting was a bit silly in places rather than weird. I think a weird west setting would work really well with BRP and I would definately buy this.

  4. christopherhouse - welcome to the forums! You're a lucky guy to be married to a gamer. If only my Lovely Wife would game with me!

Bane Root - Very glad you've found the forums! The current BRP book is a compilation of all the optional / add-on rules you've ever heard of for the core system. It's a toolkit for building specific games you'd like to run.

I'm enjoying it (and these forums) quite a lot. Welcome, folks - here's to interesting conversations and fun games!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am really looking forward to getting BRP the only thing stopping me at the moment is a rather large and quite unexpected garage bill! :ohwell: On the positive side of things I am married to a gamer as well.

  5. What sort of RQ did you advertise to get them interested?

If it was old-time RQ and/or the world of Glorantha, the new Mongoose RQ might not be quite the thing.

For more traditional RQ2/3 type stuff, a quick google found this ready-to-run adventure (complete with pre-gen characters):

RQ Scenario: To Kill A Monster

Could be good (and the rest of that site looks useful too - more adventures &c).

I sold them on the BRP system not any particular setting.

  6. Ok so the deal is that my group have never played RQ or any Basic Roleplaying Game. An unexpected slot opened up in the GM'ing roster last night and quick as a flash I am in there "I will run Runequest". I explain the system and the players all want to play. Great, except I am a bit skint at the moment and can't really afford to buy any books. I also sold all my original RQ stuff years ago. I already had visited this site a couple of times and I knew about the Luxury SRD on the downloads page. It looks ok but it is not really RQ as I remember it, but I think it could be useful. I like the look of Warlords of Alexander (again on the downloads page) and I may decide to run with that. I suppose my question is, are there any free resources (rules, settings etc..) from other sites that I don't know about that could save my impetuous ass before my players arrive on Sunday

  7. Hello, I have just joined the site. My name is Jason Halton and I live in Chorley, England. I have been playing RPG's since 1979! I still cannot believe that . I started out at the age of 11 playing RQ at school during lunch breaks and started running games in about 1981 I think when I ran Golden Heroes and RQ2 for my school friends. I have played and run far too many games to list here! I have played or run games pretty consistently my whole life apart from a 3 year stint in the army. I found this site after a long hiatus between running RQ games, I last ran RQ3 Deluxe (the Avalon Hill one) back in the early 90's and I am very interested in the new Basic Roleplaying Game.
