  1. We all seem to have differing needs, but IMHO, if RQG is not to suffer the “lack of playable content” trap which has killed RQ and over the past decades has seriously damaged other RPGs, the publishing schedule should be about 3 campaign/scenarios publications for every 1 cult/god/ rules addendum publications.

  2. First choice was campaign material, 2nd choice would be easy to insert scenarios.  If one does not want to/have time to write scenarios, all the cult books,  and rule addendums are useless, as there is nothing to use them on!  Lack of playable campaigns and scenarios was certainly why I and our RQ Group ceased playing RQ back in the RQ2/3 days.  Borderlands/ Griffin Mountain, Pavis etc were all excellent, just too few and far between to support a regular weekly RQ group.

i confess that I hope that any HeroQuest rules can operate as stand alone, as I was was not interested in that concept in RQ 2/3 days, and, subject to seeing how it is handled, may never happen in any of my games!

You're in a pretty unique situation, having already bought 2 copies. I imagine they'll try and help you if they can.  But imo it's a little harsh to start out expecting disappointment.  Why? Have they actually disappointed you already?

Sadly, they have.  I wish for them to succeed and I really want to give them my money.  I also don’t want them give me freebies to make me happy!  However, consider any other company that gives you product information which directs your product purchases, and then they say “oops, to bad so sad, we can’t do what we promised.  Oh well,  not our fault, it’s a contractor beyond our control.  If you give us a little more money we’re willing to give you something extra.”  So, yes, disappointed that they didn’t think this through, that they are behaving like a large monopolistic company, and seem to be ducking the issue, both in forums and personal contact.  So, while I have been a huge Chaosium fan/booster, they are leaving me feeling they are crossing a corporate line.  I have/had every expectation that we can work it out without it costing Chaosium, however, they are not getting back to me!

I am frankly pretty stoked that Chaosium will "double-apply" the coupons this way.

If anyone here feels like they are somehow being "cheated" by getting this extra copy of the rules, please let me know -- I am probably looking for an extra copy (or several) of the core book, and will likely offer you the full value of the core-book Coupon as buy-price...🤩

Who knows, maybe I will be able to do some deal with you.  I am presently trying to deal with Chaosium direct. I already have two full paid up hard copies, one being leatherette, so, as you may imagine, a third does me no favours.  There are other ways Chaosium can handle this hiccup, and I am waiting to see if they will resolve this like the upstanding people they are.  If not, maybe you can have all my RQ stuff😞

  5. If I understand this e-mail correctly, then I am very upset with Chaosium.  I feel I have been subject to a “bait and switch”.  I own a PDF rules, a leatherette rules and a regular hard copy rules.  i have PDF Bestiary and PDF GM Pack.

For this release I was going to add the hard copy Bestiary and GM pack and an empty slipcase to put my 3 hard copies in.  I feel that Chaosium has long stated that we could buy the empty slipcase later, and are now reneging on that deal.  Are we to be punished for trying to support Chaosium early, and purchasing items singly?  Too awkward to ship is a disgusting excuse!  You can put my two hard copies in the slipcase and pack the third spot with paper.  I was even considering purchasing another product which could have filled the void.

Come on Chaosium, you can be better than that.

  6. I seriously hope they are being e-mailed immediately.  Having waited sooooo long for the paper copy, I hope no one is saying I have to wait two more weeks for a coupon to arrive?

Coupons are being sent only when physical book is available on Chaosium site. So no issued yet. But "soon"!

  7. Must say, with the reports from a while ago that the US container ship is docked in LA....I am beginning to wonder if customs is dragging their heels due to Drumf’s trade war with China??

Buying the PDF is prepaying.  Or at least half pre-pay.  I dont like PDFs but this time I bought one

True:  I’d rather “fully” pay now and speed the process.

When the slipcase would be  realise?, because I gonna bay the RQG as soon as it   Becomes available, so that’s make me wander if the core book comes first, what’s up then? Would be available separately for the same price?

Just checking that you realize that the core rules are already available at the Chaosium site.  Only purchasable as a PDF at present, but it works fine and looks good.  Hard copy due in a few weeks with the PDF price deductible from the Hard Copy price.  No need to delay your fun!

Cool. Thanks for the info. The pack sounds like it will do the trick and give me somewhere to start. I’ve been a long term Glorantha fan - but only ever from afar. It’s pretty daunting when you have never run the setting before - hence the need for a leg up.

I await future releases and news with anticipation...

If I may be so bold as to offer an opinion:

if you have all new players and a new GM:  Roll up all starting Adventurers as 16 years old.  That way, the players can only expect world knowledge of about a 50 km radius.  By doing this, new players and GMs have a chance to move into the world slowly and learn about Glorantha together. If the “ripples”move out slowly, it should be easier for you to stay one week of background ahead of the players and hopefully it will be less daunting for all.

It would have gone into the core rules, but we chose to emphasize the "full" system as the default/preferred mode of play.

IMHO you made the correct choice.  Add to that the sidebars that suggest quicker/ less involved development, and its not rocket science to shorten the process

But the fact that, by a literal reading, a DEX 21 character casting a 1 point spell casts it on strike rank zero does not mean that the spell literally takes zero time to cast.

The “literal reading” is negated by the fact the rules state that if any combo of circumstances lead to a Srike Rank of zero, it is still treated as Strike Rank 1.  I am interested to see how this works out-I could argue both sides

Plusit was one of only a handful (three I think) of RQ adventures, available before RQ2 and the boxed sets, and this one wasn't just your standard dungeon crawl.

BTW, I guess they are going to release an updated version of this as one of the first RQG adventures!

If true- wish they’d hurry before we spend hours reinventing it🙄
