  1. Having received the french rulebook, I see no more words to change in our french googlesheet version, for the moment.

All is ok for the french version.

Next possible changes will arrise when the other books will be published

By the way, do we have to make any manipulation into the rule tab when changing for the french view?

Quick question, the Alternative Rules snapshot found here https://runequest-glorantha.fandom.com/wiki/Google_Sheets_Character_Creation_Workbook_by_Phil_Hibbs shows an alternate rule with "Use profession skill bonus values from the French edition"

What is different in the French edition?

It's probably too soon to answer precisely because french rules are still unpublished and under corrections, but to say it shortly, some more skills are added to the occupational skills in the character creation chapter and a few ones are slightly modified

What changes are needed to make the CharSheet printable? Just the HP and MP tracks down the sides? I can just add those to the CharSheet.

Yes, on the print setting page, you'll have to specify margins to 0.394" (1cm) and activate custom page breaks. this will fix printing scale (maybe you'll have to finish the printing process for these settings to be stored in the app).

I didn't found other way to maintain printing margins and scale in the file.

I'm on the spells translation process. I try, as much I can, to reuse the names applied in the french RQ3 version.

WIP is there (translations tab) : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_L7LmxTB-145W4H8NTkqKZdc9QCFkcTcdm3HD75sUW0

    • When do the spell selection lists fill up?

Because if I only fill the chargen/A column, spells lists are still blank to me on charsheet. Did I miss something ?

    • To translate the spell names, can you put each of them in the translation tab please (I guess you're better than me to filter multiple occurrences of the same spell) ?
    • I come again on the printer friendly charsheet. I still think it's useful. Not for you, not for most English user as there is already character sheets available. But, in the French case, it's, for the moment, the only existing French character sheet. And last but not least, we don't always play with electronic device at hand.

  4. it would be cool adding another tab containing the CharSheet formated for compatibility with A4 printer

I've toyed a little with the charsheet tab and I propose you the following layout :

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_L7LmxTB-145W4H8NTkqKZdc9QCFkcTcdm3HD75sUW0/edit?usp=sharing

It seems formulas and layout survive to the transfer from on spreadsheet to another one.

Édit: and the translate process seems to work fine on this new tab

  5. I've given a try with the compare function from adobe acrobat pro : It just highlights changes and often finds modifications that didn't occured. I didn't found a way to export the result.

I've tried diffoscope on linux : I get a 300 Mo text file with, also, a lot of false changes detected. Maybe some parameters in the app have to be ajusted...

I finally think a good diff would be more easily done if working on an export in text format of the two native files

  6. French translation for new terms :

    • Rule : Règle
    • Implement : Activer
    • Active : Actif
    • Description : Description

  7. Considering "Parler langue" a pleonasm and the fact that d' is in french only usable before a vowel,  I propose some changes for the languages names translation.

    • keep "Parler" for the speak skill and take for:
    • Darktongue Des Ténèbres
      Earthtongue De la Terre
      Spiritspeech Des Esprits
      Boatspeech Marin
    • Stormspeech Des tempête
      Firepeech Du Feu
      Beastspeech Des Bêtes
    • Why did you went back to "Conn. Pays natal" for "Homeland lore" ?        Previous correction was "Conn. région" and it was perfect.  Please, place "Conn. région" as the traslation of "Homeland lore".
    • "Cowbell" is intented to describe a bell around cow's neck ? if yes, "Sonnaille" is OK.

    • Fixed another French translation

@sireRage Can you check over the French instructions, please, I've attempted to update it to describe the new translation mechanism but I probably bungled something!

You're right, I forgot some old translation system on the wiki page. I reworked the translation chapter on the french page to give hints how to add a new language or modify an existing one (for example to be closer to the official french rules if they appear someday).

I realize just now the count column usage. It's there you see if there is two times the same expression in the column, right ?

If so, ther is still "(a) normal year" which give same french term "Une année calme" and "devoured/Fed to the Crimson Bat" giving "dévoré par la chauve souris pourpre"

  9. I've translated the wiki page.

here's the link to the french version

    https://runequest-glorantha.wikia.com/wiki/Création_de_personnage_avec_Google_Sheet_par_Phil_Hibbs

I let you juge the possibility to change the wiki adress during the translate process, or adding this link into your first post, with the sheet link.

    Good luck

  10. Nice job, thanks

I still prefer Actuel to Actu on charsheet, especially since the full version of current is no longer used anywhere in the sheet. So I propose to remove the "Current" word from the translations and only work with Curr./Actuel.

Oh, and you didn't took into account my other points : "Langue natale" instead of "Parler natale", Homeland lore must be translated to "Conn. région" instead of "Conn. pays natal"

my translation file, on google drive is roughly up to date

Charsheet/Ab57 isn't translated (spirit lore = "Conn. des esprits" or "Conn. (Esprits)", as you prefer)

By the way, is it possible, to simplify the translation process ? I though it was maybe possible to migrate the translate button to Chargen/somewhere under A13 and make the macro associated to copy/paste the right language col using the choice made in chargen/A13 ?

For example, the user choose "Français" on Chargen/A13 and click on translate (wich is placed near there, on the same sheet), and the translate macro makes a copy of the french column from translation and launch the translation process as usual.

By this way, non english users can use the sheet without having to dive into others
