John Hedge
The Miskatonic Playhouse presents a new investigation for Rivers of London, taking place in Edinburgh. Consisting of three case files, we follow the newly founded Special Circumstance Unit. Find it on Spotify, Youtube, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's the first day in the new job for DS Rhodri Cadwallador and DC Isabelle Wood. They've already fallen foul of Special Investigations and are racing against time to solve what seems like nothing more than a childish prank.Cadwallador begins making friends and Wood tries to wrap her head around her new, rather eccentric boss. https://www.miskatonicplayhouse.com/podcast/waters-of-leith Edited September 10 by John Hedge typo
John Hedge
And that's episode 2 out now, which wraps up the first Case File: Hot on the heels of the tat thief, the force make their way down into Leith, where Cadwallador makes 'friends' with the local river. Wood begins to unravel the case, but can she get there in time?
John Hedge
We released part 1 of our 2nd casefile today titled 'The Ghost Train' PC Lennox Gyle has a dead woman on an abandoned tracks and turns to the 'Magic Police' for help. Not quite believing in this 'magic' malarky, they approach the Manse with a feeling of trepidation. Cadwallador & Wood make their way to the crime scene and uncover more questions than answers. I didn't really feel needed in this episode as the three investigators seemed happy to spend most of it playing around in their new Headquarters. But it's a ton of fun to listen to. Runeslinger
I am curious how long each session was before editing, and if they were recorded separately over time or closer together. Were there discussions about how to speak to each other in play and how that might translate into the final edited form of the sessions? John Hedge
Hey, happy to explain! We recorded the entire campaign over about 6 weeks. Generally recording for about 2.5 hours at a time to produce two episodes of about 1 hour. There's one session that was a little short as Newman was a bit late and I was a bit unwell, so Ghost Train ran a little short. The Playhouse has been running a few years now and we'd all recorded together before, so while there wasn't much need for an in-depth chat on 'how to' play, but we did record a fairly long session 0, which we made available to our supporters as a bonus. In the Session 0, we talked about my vision for the arc, built out the kind of characters Lynne and Newman would play and began to get a feel for their relationship. I had initially envisioned Lynne as being the older, more experienced cop, but they decided to switch it up and give Rhodri that comical vibe that worked so well. We also talked a little about the kind of world we were creating and the 'feel' of the show kind of fell out of those chats.
