Baldrick0712
How would you go about generating an NPC to represent a new player-knight's vassal knight parent? I'm thinking maybe generate a knight as normal and then do lots of winter phases for them, including solo-scenarios as if an absent player? However this seems very long winded. Maybe I should just generate a player-knight and decide on a number of extra points to add across skills, traits and passions for the years they are older than their heir? In general, there is absolutely no need to do them as a full PC-equivalent. I would just look at their history, look at the player character's main traits and passions, and then ask the player what kind of a person their parent was like and did they get along (probably sharing values in that case), and if not, why not? And then just freestyle from there as needed. If I need skills, I would just decide what they'd have. Having like 25 years or so more experience than the starting PKs, they would likely have weapon skills in the high teens, and their most often used non-weapon skills at 15. That is good enough for NPCs. If I really want to surprise myself, I'd go to one of the online knight generators (or Book of the Warlord) and roll up an older knight at random.
